Coyote, is absoutely right, a Horror MMO would never work, because of what TV, and Movies have done to the monsters of our nightmares and fears, even the lowely Boogie Man is nothing to cringe at anymore.

Even today, almost all MMOs cater to the easy format, and the quick buck of the companies that are trying hard to carve out an existance, gone are the days of an evolutionary mmo that will stay for a decade, let alone a century(maybe). There is no innovation, no imagination, no pride, no guts, no glory, that companies would want strive to for. Nope, its, all about getting that first 1 billion dollar MMO out there, and seeing who can get the richest first. They don't even care aboute the game community at all, most companies make half attempts to solve the problems that are found in games, but, in most cases, they either totally ignore them, and makeing the games quit the games out of frustration, or, makeing the games so easy, so, that gamers are running to the 'Next Big MMO' all the time, just for that small glimmer of hope that the game will be the one to keep gamers around for a longer duration.

I'm going very Dark with my sith Character, was a pansy in the beta just because it wasn't going to be my character at launch :)

Unfortunately, Eve already has missions that are Soloable, but, there is one hitch, with Eve's scanning systems in play, any player who is pvp mined, or, is a thief, has the ability to scan your ship in these missions and actually enter them at any time, without your permission, and do whatever they want.

I've had issues with AMD cards, a few times, when the GPU Controller Software said this version of drivers for a certain vid card, i would find that said driver would lock up my card, and send a 'no signal' to my monitor, where as, nvidia drivers are very good with whatever card they work for., only had one issue with nvidias drivers, and that was on a very old vid card.

I tried the Beta this past weekend, impressed with the game, but, OH, so tired of the Blasted "Chosen One", or, "Honoured One" cliche.

When are MMO's going to just, you start as a normal person/being, and, its up to you to make your own choices.

As much as everyone is pouncing on the Devs and GMs for all the changes and saying they are having really bad ideas coming to the fore, its not them pushing all these changes through, its the accounting, management and upper echelons of the companies, they see ways to expoit the player base out of hard earned money, and, no matter how many are crying "FOUL", they keep on dipping more and more into the pay to win, they are the ones pushing all the bad ideas, and, the Devs and GMs are forced to put those actions into the game.

Its a sad situation for the Devs and GMs to see something they created being expoited, but, its either do, or, walk in some cases for them.

The OP is correct in some instances, but, as a whole, saying people are morons and can't do pirating well, well, have to say he is way off the mark on that one. Its not that people can't do pirating, its because the ability of companies to "DRM" and use cloud type platforms to protect and service their games has actually gotten better. Sometimes, there is a between new tech and when people finally catch up to the ability to get around it. In most cases, people have finally realized that buying the game is way more fun then actual pirating the game, especially when features such as online play is unlocked compared to playing it in single player mode.

Personally, I don't care if I get a Beta Invite, after the huge debacle with SWG, I wasn't interested in another Force game, so far, I've stayed away from the regular Single Player variants.

true, stay within the first 4 tiers, and really have fun, goes the same when they bring out World Of Battleships, and, Warplanes, higher tiers really get nasty at times, and if your a 6th tier tank, you get tossed into the high tier battles 95% of the time and are usually very close to the bottom of the stack. which will mean your normally only a few seconds from the start of the game before you get popped, which then becomes no fun :(

Don't be so hurt, EA is notorious for treating everyone but the US as Third, Fourth, and even bootlicker trash :(

Heck, they state in thier games how they are innovative, and adding new stuff to thier games, but, its all hype in thier demo videos, and basicaly never in thier games. Good example, destructible buildings in thier latest Battlefield game, of course there isn't any destuctible buildings, except for the scripted buildings, but, they never tell you that all the demos are scripted, or, anything else. Heck, even thier sports games aren't even imaginative any more, after all, they've locked 95% of competion for games out of the sports genre now, and have exclusive control over specific games, and, they just release the same sport crap, year after year :(

I'm passing on SW:TOR, and BF3, anlong with other EA games, I've had it with EA, and, the bull*hit they call a game now :(

This is no surprise, way back in 06, I bought the Wookie extention for Star Wars Galaxies from Gamestop, and, it was suppose to have bonus codes and material with it, but, instead, I got just the vanilla game extention, and was told they don't sell games at all with the bonus content, of course, they kept ALL of the money I paid for the bonus content, then, less then 1 month after I bought the extention, Gamestop was selling the bonus codes through ebay, for nearly 20 bucks a pop.

Those coupons aren't going to the dumpster, Gamestop will just place them on ebay, and make extra money from those who will do anything to get the extra play time.

Gamestop should be ordered to stop all business. end of story. :(

Of course not, after all, it was Smedley and Lucas who doomed SWG in the first place with the inexcuseable CU, and, then NGE.

Of which the player population loud and clearly said no to, and, upwards of 400k cancelled thier subs to protest for, and, after all the server merges, after all the updates, and, the other promises that they never came through on. Now, Lucas has his next big thing, TOR, and, I know, at one point, both Smedley and Lucas had stated, that there will only be one fully endorsed MMO that Lucas Arts will have a hand in.

$1,000 for a pair of jeans, where the heck does that Dev/GM buy his clothes?

If i saw a pair of Jeans in a store for that much, I'd laugh at the jerk who'd buy them, because, I'd certainly walk around the corner and get a far better pair of jeans for $50 at a reputable clothing store.

Maybe a rich kid would buy that pair, but, for what reason, to wear them to one party, and, then toss them out into the garbage can next day?

the pricing in the NeX Store doesn't warrant that type of inflation, surely, a monocle, would be worth 100 mill, not 1.4 billion isk.

this just goes to show you what the Upper Management of CCP has come to when they believe the whole world will stop and throw $60 thier way, just for the pleasure of wearing a monocle on some dress up avatar doll. :(

All in all, the threat these actions are causing is getting very serious, but, its pretty obvious that, not only must the threat be dealt with seriously, and, must be done fast, but, on the other hand, these companies must take a serious stand over thier hardware, and, security also, ie, a new type of security system must be established so that security, even in icloud form can be established.

2 wrongs don't make a right, but, considering that ramifications of the entire hacking potentials that have happened, and, are likely to continue, there must be better security.

One thing I would love to see in any mmo, is actual experimentation on any craftable item, in Eve's case, a ships bpo, that has had a few "extra bonus items" added to the mix to get an experimental value added to it, say maybe an extra 1% speed boost, or, maybe an extra .5% to tracking speed.

it can work in nearly all mmo also, extra percentage of damage potential for a weapon, protection, or, anything else,  But, it has to be a bonus, and , it may also be a negative to a character also, or, the item in question can be sold to hapless ppl :)
