Regardless of whether or not a feature existed in the betas before release, it is still called an update when the feature is added after release. What else can you call it?  I am sure they have a ton of missions in the can ready to be added on a monthly basis.  They probably held off so they could concentrate on making the launch as smooth as possible.  If they hold true to their announcements about future updates, this game is going to ROCK!

Yes. Ragnar already said that they have been working on post-launch updates for more than a year and have at least 7 years of game content planned out.

Combat is fine, I honestly don't get what people complain about. I"ve played all the AAA MMO's and don't see why combat is such an issue for some.

It's a great game and I wish I wasn't working at the time to be part of this. Friday the 13th doesn't come around too often and fits so well with the theme of this game.

Combat is great. People complaining about it either expected a third person shooter or did not play past kingsmouth.

Its one of the best combat systems in mmorpg genre and I just LOVE the depth it adds to the game and ammount of thinking needed.

*Sees word: Ultima*

YAAAAAAAAAAAY!

NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE.

I haven't played this game, but it looks like a world Harry Dreseden fans would feel right at home in.

Its pretty much:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Harry Dresden meets H.P Lovecraft.

I hope they dont mean removing features because of this dominant beliefe that we all want WoW and they know whats best.

its most likely about references. There are certain things, sayings, etc, that are very common in their culture yet VERY alien to western ones. I doubt they will remove any features or change gameplay mechanics.

I find it interesting that game after game keeps talking about awesome lore, dungeons, graphics, abilities, etc, but none seem to highlight how they go about solving the nemesis of all MMO's, namely the end-game.

End-game killed SWTOR to just mention one game. No amount of coolness, graphics, lore will ever keep this game afloat if there is no longevity to the end-game. EQ1 and a few other games are examples where end-game has been able to keep players around for many years. What are Funcom doing to not relive SWTOR's fate?

they have years upon years of story advancement planned that is made by player community solving the harder puzzles meant to advance it all(like how ARG is handled), which encourages competitiveness between factions and apparantly will bring various advantages to factions or cabals who solve it.

Then you have persistent warzones that affect the stuff like game economy or influence of each faction.

Then you have cabal(guild) system and apparantly there's some stuff planned there too

the setting is  based upon the same novels, actually.

Jessie360, has a point the game does feel like it could be easily a stand alone product without the mmo feature tacked on.

Except, you know that TSW has this whole focus on community interaction in puzzle solving beneficial to the side that solves it, as well as this whole faction warfare system.

Game is mmo througha nd through. A good one at that.

Where was that when I was playing this last weekend?

Most of the community seemed to consists of elitist comments of 'go back to WoW', or 'you guys are idiots for asking for help' or 'nobody help him! let the noob figure it out on his own'.

Definitely seemed like players who wanted to figure things out by communicating with others were told to 'go back to WoW', while doing the quests in isolation were viewed as 'the right way to do it'.

I helped people all last weekend.  I did that most of my time actually.  I saw tons of people helping out.  I have no idea what you're talking about.  Unless it was questions that were being asked that people put no effort in trying to figure out for themselves.  Fans of TSW want you to atleast try and figure out the answers, so you'll experience some challenge.  Instead of people getting all the answers without thinking and blow through the content, then come to this site and post how boring and no challenge the game was.

PRETTY MUCH THIS.

Community can HELP you solve stuff or use some slight hints.

But no one is going to just give answers directly because half the fun is actually figuring stuff out.

In that way it really works better if you are playing with someone else who is just as clueless as you are and you figure out stuff in a group :)

Wow, 5K more on top of the 5K?

Server stress test?

Pretty much.

A lot of stuff has been overhauled and tweaked since previous test, so I guess they want to test out stability, considering the stuff that is available in this test :)

Tera version 2?

Entirelly different focus.

For one Raiderz has better implemented targeting system and more fluent combat.

For second, the focus on Tera is still traditional mmorpg grind and etc, while Raiderz focus is crafting(monsters do not drop "equipment, for example and the game runs on player based economy) and guild conflicts and politics.

Originally posted by Lawlmonster Really, NWN and Elder Scrolls? Two of the worst looking titles on the horizon, and one of them's made by Cryptic. You'd think the lesson would have already been learned after the likes of STO and DCUO.
With all the respect, we never got a real "Cryptic" mmo.    Both of their previous titles came out under Atari. And Atari is the main thing at fault for rushing Age of Conan too.    this is the first title that Cryptic is not releasing under Atari.  Its interesting on how differently gaming journalists and "average joes' view Neverwinter. Press seems to love it and I do love it too, but majority seem to be intent on outright despising it. Funny. AS for ESO. While its standard WOW clickfest, the brand-recognition alone DOES make it the most anticipated title. Out of all the games in the list, Elder Scrolls is the biggest  brand name, dwarfing everyone else by a mile
CoH/CoV ring a bell? STO is the same game with a different skin. NWN looks to be in the same style.

Yes its a new Publisher, but its still Cryptic and they are still following that "MMO in a Box" 2 years Dev cycle idea

Oh and Cryptic didnt make DCUO. They made Champions Online. Still a horrible game

Popular IP name to sell a game

And COH/COV is still one of THE BEST mmo titles in existence. your point being?

Also now Neverwinter has been in development for far longer than two years. Atari had a philosophy of "quick buck over quality" with EVERYTHING they did, hence why they ran themselves into the ground. Neverwinter the moment it left ATari's grasp instantly got one year more of development time. That alone proves a LOT on how much atari influenced and controlled cryptic

And yes. Popular IP tends to sell games. Thats why you get complete kitsch like star wars dance off and it still sells. Because of brand recognition. The quality level of ESO does not matter. The ammount of recognition it gets from the brand itself does.

TB's Official Planetside 2 stream ofE3 - Day three

Apparently Day Two won't be fully uploaded due to audio issues and we will get a shortened version latter on.

but i hope it;'s because either of the video quality or they just dumb down the graphics for Alpha

i hope they provide like really nice texture resolution at release date

Its because its an alpha. As TB says in second video they just added the lighting graphics engine just before E3, for example. :)

Part Two
Part Three

This might be the most Planetside 2 gameplay they have ever shown yet.

he already uploaded the first, one hour long stream part from the E3 event he hosted. More most likely will come over next days to his channel.
First Part

Really gives the feel of the scale of this game.

Sorry but no. Hard game difficulty, getting lost in dungeons and permadeath is what Wizardry franchise IS. They won't be getting rid of one of main features that attract people to Wizardry :)

Aw you didnt ask them why the animations are still terribad 2 years after they stated they are simply placeholder anims.

They are placeholders.

Most NPCs do not even have the actual faces yet. Character creation is a placeholder. Hell even the combat itself is not "complete" yet.  Its something that is getting fixed over the course of next week. Well not fixed, but patched.

Next beta weekends should reveal an entirelly different game :)

Is that correct? Sounds incredibly far-fetched to me. Before playing the BWE, i though the secret world is actually sort of a  parallel dimension (like in Longest Journey, Dreamfall, or the anime Gantz). I liked that idea much more, makes more sense to me and sounds more mysterious.

What i don't understand is:

1) How the heck is it possible to keep all of that a secret for such a long time? And why even bother to keep it a secret?

2) Why are the player's "magic" abilites so important, if normal persons can see and interact with those events as well?

Secret world IS different world from ours. The towns are different. Its a world VERY close to how ours is, but some things are different. Very different.

It has those shadowy organizations who do not want to just "Save" the world, but also to WIN. Gain power. Also there are more powers beyond the three blocks.
