Originally posted by Adelbern I can't wait till after two or three months ago, someone will post: "_____ effecting GW2?"
Seriously enough with pointless hype for that game. You people like GW2, we get it now please stop giving a bad name to an entire fanbase of GW2 by pushing offtopic comments about GW into news articles and threads that have NOTHING to do with GW2.
Tera is dying because its fundamentally flawed, bad game, which tries to hide trite mmo grid behind decently implemented "action combat"(that in itself hides the point-and-click style of play). Its not a horrible game, its just that about every other game of that style that came out last year over-shadows it. GW has nothing to do with it. |

[Editorial] The Secret World: Musing on Funcom
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 8/29/12 7:04:18 PM
this is why we can't have nice things.
I guess usual "economist" type of mmo gamer is just so in love with generic fantasy setting end-game-focused min-max algorhythms, that the idea of a mmo where immersion, roleplay and storyline is the content seems disgusting to them.
TSW is the freshiest mmo i have played in last 5 years. Freshier and more immersive than GW II, even. It succeeded at what TORtanic WANTED to do - create an immersive, alive, interesting world and tell the story in in.
I really hope it pulls through and survives. If there's one mmo I do not regret subbing to, its TSW. |

[Preview] Wizardry Online: Bringing Back the Classic
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 8/23/12 12:39:53 PM
Originally posted by Zylaxx IMO the trade-off in this one is great.
its the old good risk-and-reward - you want to use some better items you found instead of leaving them in warehouse? Be prepared to lose them on death. Of course you can put them into your stash and they will be safe for your next character, but you most likely will be weaker.
I like it, it adds tangibility to death. death is no longer something that is "meh oh well". Death is something you fear. and it adds upon the game's atmosphere as with the prospect that you might TRULY die, the tension in dungeons increases and the monsters seem a whole lot more threatening.
its no longer a min-maxing of economics-obsessed guy. Its now about survival :) |

ArcheAge: CBT5 Video Shows Off Character Customization
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 8/11/12 7:42:05 AM
Originally posted by Fusion It would be hilarious if Archeage's dwarves would be a stereotype-defying in a way that instaed of crafting and blacksmithing, they would be all about magic.
Seeing A dwarven race where dwarves are scholars and learners instead of "And My Axe!" Warriors would be a breath of fresh air. |

RaiderZ: The Game Cooler: Grakulen Blogs on RaiderZ
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 8/11/12 7:39:26 AM
Raiderz so far is everything TERA promised but never ever delivered. As long as they do not mess up cash shop, the game will be everything I want from action mmo.

Anyone who followed Secret World knows what single server technology means and why it is THE innovative way any mmo should handle itself.
Hatters gonna hate though. :) |

News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 7/17/12 2:29:18 PM
Originally posted by dotdotdash This is what happens when you take an awesome rpg franchise like KOTOR, alienate the fanbase, throw around ego-filled comments like "TOR will be KOTOR 3 4 5 6 and so on in one!" and decide its a great idea to bastardize one of your most succesful franchises into a cheap mmo, instead of delivering the most awaited third part of the franchise :) |

Originally posted by marz.at.play Combat is great. People complaining about it either expected a third person shooter or did not play past kingsmouth.
Its one of the best combat systems in mmorpg genre and I just LOVE the depth it adds to the game and ammount of thinking needed. |

its most likely about references. There are certain things, sayings, etc, that are very common in their culture yet VERY alien to western ones. I doubt they will remove any features or change gameplay mechanics. |

The Secret World: Dungeon Preview - Hell Fallen
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 6/23/12 4:38:00 AM
Originally posted by Markusan they have years upon years of story advancement planned that is made by player community solving the harder puzzles meant to advance it all(like how ARG is handled), which encourages competitiveness between factions and apparantly will bring various advantages to factions or cabals who solve it. Then you have persistent warzones that affect the stuff like game economy or influence of each faction. Then you have cabal(guild) system and apparantly there's some stuff planned there too |

Originally posted by jdnyc PRETTY MUCH THIS. Community can HELP you solve stuff or use some slight hints. But no one is going to just give answers directly because half the fun is actually figuring stuff out. In that way it really works better if you are playing with someone else who is just as clueless as you are and you figure out stuff in a group :) |
