different? certainly, since thats the only acapella metal band in existence.

Its easily in top 3 of the most epic things to happen in this universe:
1. Blind Guardian Song in Sacred Game and their ingame concert.
2. Van Canto Runes of Magic song video.
3. The Guild second music video with mmorpg as bollywood movie.

Surprised this is not yet posted.

This has to be the most awesome thing i saw, since the second The Guild Music Video :P

http://www.mmoculture.com/2010/09/world-of-immortals-new-trailer.html

New trailer revealed:
- Shows off three known classes - Swordmage, Archer and Dancer.
- Confirmed that the more traditional click-to-attack targetting has been replaced by actual arpg mechanics (like nontarrgetting spells, mouseoverhp bars, etc)
- 5 More classes are left to be revealed.

While I have a lot of problems (read: i hate cult-based corporations proffiting from masses), the Old Testament itself has to be one of the most epic works of ficiton ever written. I mean :

- You have angry overpowered terrific god that does all sort of cool stuff.

- You have this huge lore, cool powers and characters.

- YOu have those epic huge battles between countries/tribes/etc

- Terriffic creature designs and universe that fits dark fantasy genre so well...

- Endgame/Apocalypse/etc rivalled only my norse mythology.

Heck, if someone who is not religious would just create a kick-ass game out of the whole lore, you would have one of the most epic games ever. hell, it could be a franchise:

- It would work as RTS/TBS. Sort of AgeOfMythology/Civilization/AgeofWonders style. You sacrifice stuff, win victories for your God, you war other countries in epic massive battles and use various god-powers.

- IT would work as hack'n'slash action rpg and/or platformer. With you working as demon or angel with varous mission and all culminating into massive level of apocalypse.

- It would even work as society-managment game - imagine having to build up a society, collect animals and build noahs ark in defined period of days? How about eden simulator - grow your own paradise?

- It would even work as FPS.

The possibilities are ENDLESS with such lore, sadly everyone is too affraid of the big multinational corporation that is Church, to even do something more than "enlighten" people with that lore...

http://www.mmoculture.com/2010/09/battle-of-immortals-2-now-world-of.html

- Game will be separate from the normal BoI (at least in china).
- The new version in China will be titled World of Immortals
- Its not just "expansion" its a complete revamp of the game.
- Alongside the previously announced 3 God Classes(Archer, Sword Mage and Dancer), another FIVE new normal classes will be available, thus possibly the current boi classes won't.
[b]- World of Immortals server and client structure is already being built with consoles in mind. The PS3 and Xbox360 client version is already worked upon with the game sharing the same servers between PC and console versions.

Ah  they are using the Hero engine.

Hero engine?

For short - one of the most versatile engines ever seen.

TOR (sadly) is "using" it, sadly Bioware does not care for unique features available in it(scripted terrain changes? sandbox stuff? Randomly generated enemy models?  who neeeds that~) and frankly one of my main gripes with TOR is that Bioware has no plans to fully put the engine to use.

Anyway. Read more at the official engine page: http://www.heroengine.com/

And be surprised that not many mmorpg developers use it >_>

Claiming their game will have an amazing story is not a "Best game ever" remark, it is usually fact when it comes to a BioWare game.

As for the screenshots, what all did it tell you? I know for a fact you can't judge an entire game from  screenshots, I've seen them, and there was nothing in there to make me think it would be a good or bad experience.

Checking your recent posts has shown you're interested in a game called Battle of the Immortals. Should I come to the conclusion that this is just more F2P trash sporting a CS, no real content, being a mindless grind to cap based on a few screenshots?

If so, enjoy playing in trash.

- Apparantly you missed the " this will be KOTOR IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, bla bla bla in ONE!1!11" comments as well as the whole themepark space shooter minigame being hyped as best and most innovative thing evarrr!!!~

- What do I see in screenshots? I see cartoonified art style. I see blue aliens looking like WoW characters. I see npcs with comic sans character names and huge warcraft-y "!" above him. I see a simple point and click combat and generic-mmorpg-ui#45644.  I see HK47 getting turned into "that weird npc dude you teleport to instances from". I also see two best sw games, kotor and kotor II, going down the drain for money, I see possibility of kotor trilogy ending in epic third game going down the drain in favor of this money grab. I also see the future of Bioware going towards the dark side where Blizzard, Cryptic, SOE and Activision belong.  Give me back old SWG please and Bioware should focus on single player games.  Their mass effect franchise is turning into generic fps and loosing the story quality( II was already a whole lot weaker in story and characters when compared to I), their  dragon age team is ruining the awesomeness by taking away all that made Dragon Age Origins so Awesome and turning the series into yet another mainstreamified action-in-rpg-disguise game like so many others out there.  Oh and the endless possibilities of KOTOR III are gathering dust abandoned in favor of idea of having xxEdwardxx go with his epic party to take down Sith Lord McZedraxxax LVL99...

- Going by your post I can't help but thik thatyou are one of those mindless p2p-elitist-trolls that plague mmorpg.com so much. Ever wondered why people turn to F2P games? Becuse in last few years pretty much every p2p mmo generic more-of-the-same at best. The only difference is that while in f2p you pay as much as you want to, p2p games automatically assume that you are 24/7 no-lifer who has time to play all those cool p2p wow-clones 24/7 for entire month or loose money.

I guess even even people like him get fed up with all the fake hype and utopian and cynical "our game will be best evar!~" remarks from devs.

If leaked beta screenshots are any indication, I expect many devs from this game to leave before release as to not sully their own reputation.

Does this have any connection with discontinued hack n' slash Mythos?

This is that mythos from flagship resurrected by koreans....

So, don't hold your hopes up.

IMO Torchlight II and torchMMORPG will be million times better.

Official English trailer for this expansion.

Apparently the english servers will get it in spring of 2011, only 2 to 3 months after chinese release, which is damn impressive.

temporary alliance of some sort, mos tlikely, with story reason;.

It happened in canon a few times.

http://sgcq2.wanmei.com/

According to press release and official website:
- While game retains most of current features like soul gear, its built on entirelly new graphical engine with mor erealistic, diablo-like graphics.
- Travis Baldree and Eric Schaefer of Runic Games (torchlight, torchlight II, torchmmorpg) are part of boi II development team.
- Switch from zoned to persistent world.
- actual diablo-like combat.
- new classes..
- Player Run kingdoms - you can create a Family, a family can grow into a clan and into a state. then an rts-like building elements starts as these player run states build their own towns and realms, war with each other, form alliances, treaties, enslave other states, etc.
- cross server fortress wars between servers, for the sake of occupying the "capital cities" of the continent.
- new more realistic graphical look.
- Most of player complaints(like "how da hell can you breathe and walk underwater) about game design have been answered and thus everything will be redesigned to "make more sense".
- The game will contain quest lines akin to single player rpgs, explaining the story and lore of the game as well as progressing through storyline.

The official website also came online:
http://sgcq2.wanmei.com/

It has a timer when it runs out, we will most likely get some sort of trailer or something.

Oh and here are the screenshots from official press release:

What do you guys think?

by art direction it seems to imitate diablo III a lot, however Battle of immortals can only benefit from more realistic graphics.

Im more interested in the features tho. some of them (like nation system) sound awesome. way too awesome.

Aaaand with this im off the mmorpg.com.

Once a great realm, now only ruins remain with savage beasts baiting  you at every post, with evil wizards creating illusions of grandeur upon the new king's clothes, with the citiziens who enjoy tearing others to pieces.

Few years in the future this website will only list World of Warcraft, TOR and <insertthegamedevspaidtohypehere>

Hopefully by that time the remaining community will only be the hardcore snobs...oh wait...that already happened.

Obviously world of tanks, a game that will involve thousands of players warring for territories of europe, clans fighting between themselves and players going against each other in graphical enviroinment, is not a mmo game, because:
A) Devs did not pay the website to hype it like most likely happened with TOR/Tera/etc,etc,etc.
B) The Article Author did not like the game.
C) TPTB has a biased view upon this game and would like to write another article about TOR...

THIS torchlight - yes.

THE torchlight in gamelist - the TorchMMORPG which will come out after TorchlightII and yes TorchMMORPG is fullscale mmorpg expected to go into beta somewhere mid/end of 2011

TITLE SAYS IT ALL.

Watch it on official runicgames channel in youtube:

~50% of concept art and intro.
-50% of gameplay from Torchlight II, including co op.

They should have researched their history better.  London makes no sense.  The modern Templar base is well known to be Glasgow Scotland.

http://www.skt.org.uk/January.html

1Templars are different as was already said befor eme. They ar not "christians" in this  game.

2. The TSW!London is an alternate universe London. Its not identical to ours. its purposely different. its history, its secrets, its lore is different. There are many things identical to "our world", but for all purposes its an alternate universe london.

From the E3  trailer and the gameplay trailer shown on the perfect world website this game looks like it could be amazing and draw me in like many mmorpgs had in the past. But will it just feel like another F2P mmorpg or bring life back to the free games by making them fun again ?

From what I played in Chinese focus beta1 i can say this:

- NO it wont bring you uber duper action realtime DMC-like combat.
- No its not 20000% sandbox.
- Yes it has the standard mmo class setting, but with certain twists( I bet bards will be played by many more hardcore mmoorpg players just because of how different the playstyle is)
- PVP is very dynamic. Yes its still click-attack stuff, but just standing there and spamming stuff won't get you anywhere, no matter what gear you have. Why? For one, terrain affects the gameplay and the power of your skills. For two, SoulPK system, which changes the meaning of pvp/pk, every correct hit causes it to lose "soul" (think of what happens in Sonic games when you/Sonic gets hit). You will spend more time timing and catching the "soul" of the enemy than spamming the skills. For three - the target can be "disabled" in various ways, be it paralyzing body parts, damaging the sight and etc. Of course the overall system has a lot of room for improvement, but with the changes they are applying to it in Focus Beta 2, it certainly seems promising.
- Guilds....just the guilds....That's got to be one of the most sandbox-y approaches to the guilds possible. Think - Age of Empires meets Sim City meets MMORPG meets EVE. Everything from completely customizable rts-like fortress system, to the ability to actually MOVE your guild base from one place of the world to the other reeks of awesome. I spent most of time in FT1 growing the garden in one of the rooms for the purposes of my herbalism profession.
- Quest approach - Obviously it still has usual killing quests but some quests were....unique. "here I have this short cave tunnel form the forest to the desert area. There's this huge monster blocking my way. Should I try to kill it, search for clues how to defeat it without actual fight, go around looking for some sort of random secret passage or just talk to the bastard" style of quests were certainly interesting. From what I encountered there was also a hide-and-seek style of guest and npc challenging me to a race through a bobby-trapped forest. The usual killing-quests never had more than ~10-20 monsters to kill even at FT1 level cap. Some of them even had certain twists to it (like, "how the heck will i kill this thing that I can't reach or damage?")
- Professions although not all professions were available in FT1, they were different enough. You won't have the typical WoW/PW style professions where all it differs is what can you do with stuff you collect. From the available professions there were silkroad_online-like traders, rpg-long-dialogues-style diplomats/negotiators, more standard alchemists and blacksmiths, lore and exploration based Adventurers and strange-yet-unique information-collection/mapmaking based Collectors.
- Dungeons. Some dungeons play like your character dreams(as in everything that happens is inside your character's head), others are more like "oh here our group just happened to encounter this strange carnival and got stuck in a maze" stuff.
- Most of instance/dungeon/raid loot is handled through getting special tokens from kills that you can exchange for actual stuff. There are "oldschool loot" places and there are places where everyone who participated is equally rewarded.
- AI - well monsters certainly were not standing around and pretty much everything around me acted according to how "powerful" i was. For example: I attacked a certain monster. I was more powerful. He launched skills intended on slowing me down, increased his own speed, ran a bit, called for help. His help in form of 10+ other monsters decided to berserk-rush me, while my target continued to debuff me from out of my range.
- Server Mechanics - everything I wrote above actually affected the server itself. Think of server as of "player" and of actual players as of its braincells. Every decision, every choice was building up to something and I was pretty much surprised that every of Focus Beta1 servers played and LOOKED differently, depending on the choices of player base in them. As player-community progresses, Server according to variables changed by players, enters different "Ages" with various differences caused by players, both small and big.

Overall its not "omg next gen action cryengine innovation", but more like "taking the very best elements that are there and adding some very innovative and new twists to them".

if you want something Entirely different from everything you know, then FW won't be for you. You're better off to games like Secret World(or even the PWE-developed upcoming 100% sandbox, Swordsman) then.

However if you want to get back the fun you had in old-time RPG games or the fun you never actually got in mmorpg games, FW is for you.

Unless Torchlight the MMO is going to be a completely different setting then Torchlight the dungeon crawler, I don't consider the game to be a steampunk setting at all.

Although its unknown how much of it will be shown, pretty much everything that has to do with "magic" in Torchlight mixes steampunk into it.

Not to mention that the "outside" world outside of torchlight mine town(the world which will be featured in torchlight II) seems like industrial revolution times of our world (a huge continent with only railways connecting the towns, people spending their lives building new railways, ).

Everything points to torchlight universe being that of Steam and Sorcery.
