Eu server: same with me, I used my PWE acc and it downloaded the US client. But when I saw that in Eu it's Gameforge, I rather stayed on the US East servers :)

THIS. No matter what one thinks about PWE, gameforge is around ten times worse.

Also what I found surprising is that even though I am playing on US server, I am NOT experiencing any lag at all. Game is just as fluid as if I was playing on gameforge's servers, which is commendable.

Oh wow, cutscenes that drag unskippable... I was afraid to accept a quest, so I logged out.

same

Only the first tutorial custcenes are unskippable because most of that stuff actually explains you how to survive - and those cutscenes ONLY happen on the first character of your soul

wasnt there a Lineage 3 coming up ?

I was thinking the same thing. It was like Lineage Eternal or some such title wasn't it?

No, Lineage Eternal is a somewhat forced perpective game, sort of looks like a more "epic" diablo" of sorts.

Lineage 3 was scrapped and restarted.

Wait are they still working on an official Lineage 3? I thought Eternal was what L3 became.

Interesting if they are.

No that's just internet rumor and from what I can see it only exists because someone said it and then other repeated it.

http://news.mmosite.com/content/q/2012-03-08/lineage_3_is_being_developed_different_from_lineage_eternal.shtml

A wikipedia article indicates that lineage eternal is a sequel to the original lineage. Given the fixed camera that makes some sense.

Lineage 3 development has been pretty much stopped. Give it up already Its quite obvious why it was scrapped too. most of whatever they planned was just repurposed and added as Goddess of Destruction.

LE is pretty much new L3.

And yes its a sequel to Lineage 1 since, surprise surprise, Lineage 1 storyline comes AFTER Lineage 2 and unless they do another prequel, next game in the series HAS to be after L1.

To those whining on how this should have been implemented earlier - that was not exactly the priority.

They did listen to people and they have been patching the game and changing stuff with every update, so its only normal that they first got game stable, then fixed out the most glaring bugs in already existing content, added mroe content and then focused on revamping on what did not work in the original content. They still listened.

Any player feedback as to what this game is like and if it's any good?

Think of Terra, but fun.

Terra had a good idea, but somehow managed to make the combat incredibly dull.

RaiderZ on other hand meshes the Terra style of stuff with Monster Hunter style of encounters and some unique combat mechanics. The game is filled with gigantic boss encounters from the first levels.

Freeform-class system also helps(bassically you can learn any skills from the trees of the classes and you can equip two weapons at once, which you can switch in the middle of combat, going from close-tank to ranged caster, for example, within miliseconds of one button push).

There are no item drops - monsters only drop crafting materials and stuff like that, which you then use to create the items you want.(which IMO is not only nice for immersion, but also solves the problems of set-hunting other games would suffer from).

There ARE some problems like abit slower pacing in levels 30 to 40, but for me at least, RaiderZ is bassically what I expected of Terra before I found out what Terra is actually like.

What will the PvP ruleset be?
Will there at least be a server option for open world PvP?

Pretty sure they said PVP will be come after the release.

That was before the previous delay, which was to work on PVP so it would be in release.

I'm a long-time PnP DnD player and DM, and I'm interested in what they're doing, but....

I can't tell you how much it concerns me to see characters hitting for over 1,000 dmg in that video. I mean really... c'mon... that is NOT DnD.

They just inflated the numbers by simple multiplication to make it:

  1. more impressive
  2. more accurate in terms of calculations(since your pc does not roll a dice and instead indulges into math calculations)
Its the same as them having more levels per tier - the difference seems to be there, but the difference is not there.

Doing 12 damage to a monster who has 40 hitpoints is no different than doing 1200 damage to a monster who has 4000 hitpoints.

Can we create and design our own little miniworlds with our own rules and the ability to moderate it like we could in the NWN multiplayer games?

If we can then im gonna get excited.

You can freely set the rulesets, design the maps.

You can create an entire branching bioware-rpg dialogue system if you want - anything and everything you place in the world can have a custom ruleset, can be a trap, can be an objective, etc. The basis is pretty much similar with how you create a tabletop campaign. Hell you can even make monsters and npcs dress and act like you want them to.

You can't be an actual dungeon master within a game nor create pvp-based competitive dungeons,  but they are looking at adding some sort of DM and pvp-dungeon systems post-launch.

Sandbox is the next big thing for the MMO industry.

Now that a big gun like SoE jumped on the wagon, I expect some smaller fish to do the same (who knows, maybe even Blizzard with Titan).

Anyway the EQ IP is my favourite and this is the news I was expecting for almost 10 years.

The only negative is that the game won't release before the end of 2014

I think Funcom already tried to set the tone with The Secret World.

Eventho that game isn't everyone's cup of tea and the setting serves a niche.

They still did something radical different and it's good to see that another studio (SOE in this case) is following suit.

how? the secret world is just as much a themepark as wow is one, it even has end gaming raiding .

You....have not even touched that game, have you?

TSW is neither themepark nor sandbox, but does have slight elements of both.

What changed? GW2 came out.

Which does not matter in any way since GW2:

  1. Is not sandbox.
  2. came out AFTER SOE started reworkign EQN
  3. certainly is NOT a paragon of "innovation" nor "breaking the mold" .

My interest is going to hinge around the permadeath feature I guess.  In the original classics, a character could be resurrected provided either a living party member could resurrect them, or the party could drag their body back to a temple (ie. main town), and pay for fix-me-ups.

If my memory still serves, a character would only be permanently dead if the entire party wiped (and their status went from DEAD to LOST), or if they had an irreversible condition, such as ERADICATED.  [caps because thats how the original game displayed conditions.]

Flat-out perma-death might be desirable to some, but it doesn't seem to capture the spirit of the original classics.

Unless I'm wrong about the new games policies .. my info on what they're doing is from news over the past year about this MMO - maybe it has changed.

When you die in Wizardry Online you become a ghost - then its all about racing towards resurrection point in limited time, while avoiding reapers and all other horrible stuff that is after you and can perma-kill you.

When you reach the point you can resurrect - it can fail however and you can still permadie, however you can sacriffice some of your loot to increase the chance of you returning to life.

In case you actually get dead, everything in your warehouse, your achievements, etc is "inherited" by your next character, while everything that is on your body becomes lootable(so in a way its also a risk-reward kind of thing - do you keep your best equips hidden or do you put them on risking to loose them).

This, ladies and gentlemen, is a prime example of LOLROFLCOPTERLMFAO.

realistic combat for wuxia genre? Yes.

Realistic does not always mean "as in real life".

"Realistic combat in wuxia genre" pretty much means being able to replicate the insane moves and floaty combat of those wuxia movies. Its 100% faithful to the genre, so you won't spend time running into invisible walls, stabbing a player a few times and seeing words "Miss" float above him or breaking your immersion in various other possible ways.

The value on this game is pretty good but the limited longevity hurts it.

You have no idea what you are talking about, do you?

- Loot variety.

- New Game Plus.

- Fully randomized game world and dungeons.

- FULLY modable game with mod tools AND integration of steam workshop.

That's like saying Elder scrolls franchise has no longevity.

Cons

Almost too much loot - - - So if it's ALMOST too much, then it's nearly just enough.

Art style not for everyone --- Thanks for pointing out the obvious with EVERY game.

Some bugs in coop -- At least one of these isn't opinion and obvious one that everyone knows.

In all honestly, with your struggle to find any cons, those bugs in co-op must be a big deal to bring the game down 1.4 points from 10, 'cause that's the only REAL con I see here.

The way it reads, I would expect a 9.5 or something.

THIS ^

2/3rds of the cons frankly sound like nitpicking at subjective matter of taste.

You know, this is incredibly funny to me.

Considering Nexon is developing Counter Strike 2 for asian countries right now

I've heard the idea of being able to make your own PvP dungeons being thrown around (not by devs).. It would be amazing if they could get that in at some point. Would be a game changer for sure.

Pvp is not part of D&D, at least it never has been to this point.  Hopefully they will not include it in the game, if they do, I really hope they don't allow the foundry to create pvp scenarios.  That is not what Neverwinter has ever been about.

Looks like the Foundry will be an amazing tool.  Let's hope they can include all the features listed here.

PVP will be there from day one. That's part of the reason of the most recent delay.

Oh and please there's nothing wrong with having competitive PVP-based team-objective-style dungeons designed by players.

In before doomsayers and usual pointless mess of people speculating about things they have no idea about.

Anyway, as long as Ragnar remains, there won't be any no big problems with game's direction and game won't be affected that much.

Now THIS is innovation.

Guild Wars 2? WvWvW? Dynamic Events? Please.

Good job Cryptic. This is really bringing the traditional DnD experience to the MMO genre. Be a Dungeon Master! Its a fantastic idea.

Correct me if I'm wrong..............Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 has done this before.

Though this is good news.

NWN1 and 2 was NOT a persistent open-world mmo though.

Not sure this is either.  Pretty sure is more lobby based.

no its not.

Its a set of non-instanced persistent (possibly zoned by districts of the city) areas and instanced dungeons.

And does all this foundry stuff helps, when all those level hungry players reach endlevel? It is just letting the community make the content for what they even have to pay. It's not innovative, it's greedy and totally uninspired. And it is soo Cryptic too

Then maybe you should just go and study economics instead of playing games, then? There IS such a thing as playing FOR the content, you see.
