You hear that sound?

Thats the sound of Blizzard's coffin lid being closed slowly before burrial.

Anyway, If anyone had any doubts on how bad Diablocraft III will be this pretty much proves it :)

I'll wait for Torchlight II, aka the real Diablo franchise successor with actual diablo developers and music composer.

With the closing of megaupload, and 50 sites that connect to it, I dont see why they dont just pass SOPA/PIPA, I say its worse they can take down individual sites without a second glance from the millions of people that use it every day including me.
Maybee they can make a few hundread thousand more jobs for people that all they do all day is watch the interent for online piracy, thats money well spent, lmao.

Thats because with SOPA/PIPA it would be easier to do that. They would not need to involve FBI or anyone. They would just flip the switch without unneeded publicity for themselves. Poof. Site disappears.

Some MMO's that are up and coming ask for ideas on what the players would like to see in their games in the way of clothes and tattoo's etc.Of course the easiest way for any user to show what they like is to post a link or picture thats already on the net. SOAPA and PIPA would kill this interaction. What amazed me all about this is that I was speaking to an American the other day and he had never heard of this SOAPA or PIPA. When I told him about it he asked what dumb country thought of that law..........

Thats because the USA media and news services intentionally black out any sort of information on those bills.

Actually... Terrorist: Someone who uses terror as a mean to achive their goal. Sounds a awful lot like Anonymus to me... And before anyone actually hail them as "heroes" i like to point out  that they do infact use the exact same tactics to get what they want as every other terrorist group from ETA to IRA to Al'Qaeda... With the sole difference of doing it on-line. This is ofc good since it keeps the bodycount down but it is still pretty much the same thing.

Oh I guess those who paint signs and stuff with airbrushes on the walls in the streets illegally are ALSO terrorists then and should all be sent to some secret version of Guantanamo bay to be interrogated, and spied upon then?
SOPA is pretty much online version of Patriot Act - an authoritarian anti-constitutional idea that some mega-corporations or organizations found "useful".

No... Unless they actually state that "Yeah... unless you do as we say, we will repaint your entire building/(insert thing here) with defamation test and images." If they do... Yes.. then you should most likley take them in to at least police custody. If they just do it... Then i just think they should be fined and forced to clean it up... preferably with a toothbursh...

And those street painters are doing it to either promote their art or promote their ideals too and quite a lot of those things have ideological meanings and messages.

Or hell, people doing flashmobs are also terrorists.
Or people going out to the streets to protest and saying they won't stop till they are heard are ALSO terrorists and should be tortured for information then?

People go around with the words "hacking", but what the so called anonymous(i refuse to call them that since anonymous is a virtual public unconsciousness and not some sort of organized or real group) did this time IS pretty much virtual equivalent of coming to some government building and painting a message on it. Not even that. Its more like painting some mesasge on A government POSTER(since thats exactly what those websites are).

Sure in some totalitarian state that is punishable in the same vein as terrorism, but in normal democratic society, thats the same as unsanctioned protest and is in no way same as terrorism.

Its funny that its already what, ten years since USA started using that as excuse for everything and some people STILL do it? I guess term "terrorist" is a new bogeyman that has replaced cold war period's "communist" bogeyman.

Tin foil hats off please. It is about piracy, and it's about MONEY and the corporations and entities losing it due to piracy. So they pad a few congressional pockets, help write up a really, really poorly written bill or two - internet backlashes, victory for internet right? They will pass something, something to help curb piracy.Constructive criticism and fact based arguments to support a new version of the bill that doesn't place the burden of truth on the accused.Poorly written bill, but something needs to be done.Piracy IS illegal. Here's a grown up, adult solution to the problem -PAY for material from artists, corporations, companies, and other such groups that you like and want to support. Vote with your wallet.Capitalism."There is NO such thing as a free lunch."YOU, the movie/game/music illegal downloader brought this on us.The entitlement this generation feels... that they "deserve" to steal is just laughable. Not being able to afford something you want to have is no justification for stealing it. That is called "life" and "reality."

I'd better hold on to the tinfoil hat if I were you.

Nothing in this bill is about Piracy. Majority of the bill supporters are lobbied by entertainment industry(ESA, MPAA, etc) to do so. Its the usual try to protect their gigantic market share. They did it when VHS recorders were invented, they did it when DVR concept appeared, they did it when mp3 players started to gain foothold. Most of times unsuccessfully but now they have grown in power enough to actually push bills like that into congress.

The goal of SOPA and PIPA is simple - to stop potential future innovative companies from competing with the "big guys".

Piracy is not something that can be stopped by authoritarian censorship. It can only be lessened by actually providing a better support and service than pirates.

TB's video about SOPA pretty much explains it in simplified terms better than I could.

err. no. Mozart guy sounds like a loony. The last thing the legitimate part of anti-SOPA opposition needs is to be viewed as wingnut nutjobs.

If you don't understand why SOPA was written the way it is take a quick look at any torrent search engine. What they're doing is perfectly legal, for now. Don't download anything that is illegal.  It's the government using broadly written poorly crafted legislation to try and kill the unkillable. This is all about the horrendously stupid idea that you can legislate file sharing out of existance. They might as well try to make it illegal to borrow a book from your neighbor by banning paper.

If you think ANYTHING in SOPA, PIPA, ACTA, etc is about actual piracy then you are either naive, misinformed or very unobservant.

Its not about piracy. Its about corporate censorship.  Draconic-sized megacorporatios under ESA baner and etc, retaining their market share.

Its not about politics.
its not bout beliefs.
its not about piracy.
its about power. Power and censorship

In all honesty.. I am one freak-out over SOPA from actually becomming a supporter, just for the living heck of it.Yes it is a pile of horse droppings that is and will be about as effective as hunting mosquitos with a howitser, but i fail to see how it is the end of the free world as we know it... If the free world as we know it endured christianity i am very much sure it will endure this too... Not saying people should not oppose it, it is after all a free "world" and you guys pay salary for your senators for a reason... primarly for them to rule as they see fit and listen to your complaints.. from time to time these will intersect. (look up the term "repsrentative democracy" but since there are free elections it does not matter all that much. And even if it shoudl pass actually using it will be a great deal more hairy. In fact the only ones who reeeeeaaaally loose on this is Google (and similar companies) who will have to hire a boat laod of people extra to handle the added amount of administration, and ofc your ISP, for pretty much the same reason. But i wish you good luck... Were i live we have similar laws and the free world have yet to crumble in to a pile and burn.

The country you are in most likely does not own the majority of the internet, nor has Google abide by its laws, nor paypal, nor has majority of internet's dns servers being physically there.

You are looking at the situation in way too shallow way. I suggest you to research a bit on the actual possible damage of this bill globally. :)

Oh well, not like I would ever try this anyway, whats with world of warcrafty art style and always-online drm and incredibly stupidly streamlined features (no statpoints? no skillpoints? what the holy gods?)

I guess I'll wait for Torchlight II.

Any proof to back up such claims, big guy?

"imho" this is quite important piece of gaming news and it "imho" fits under General news and it "imho" is relevant and important.

Being in business that requires me to travel a LOT and fast, being able to access windows 7 in the middle of hallway or in train-station or hell, anywhere, is VERY relevant.  Ipad is more compac than most netbooks an with this, a wholly lot more useful.

meh, I'll just get Torchlight II instead.

NOt interest in Diablocraft 3 and its RMT trading and DRM.

3 of us turned out as Illuminati.

3 as Templars and 1 as Dragon.

I like how this game tells you a little about your friends like this. Well but it's not really as if I was surprised about the outcome lol

LOL do you have a token asian friend?

Personally, I got illuminati which totally figures given the other two options of either being a religious zealot or of east asian descent of which I am neither.  But I'm cool with that :D

Then you  have no idea what templars or dragon are.

Templars have nothing to do with religion. They are bassically conservatives/republicans of the world, based around authoritarian order, laws and traditions of the old.

Dragon  have nothing to do with "asia" in particular. They are pretty much Anonymous with magic powers for the lack of better description. Embodiment of chaos. No real order or governing structure. No clearly defined philosophy or doctrine, just a mass of entirelly independent different individuals under a common goal.

Worst news of the week.

Current Bethesda is as bad as EAware an Actiblizzard.

I don't want Oblivion/Skyrim:Postapocalyptic Version MMO.  Fallout Three was as far away from fallout feel as possible...

fnny, I tried to watch some yogcast videos but that one guy is so fucking annoying I can't stand it

TB is that you? lol

Assuming a fullgrown mature male journalist and british person would get into an argument with a simple user in a mmorpg forum.

{mod edit}  The man is known to NOT visit any kinds of forums, except for having frequented RPS for a few years and ocassionally showing up on reddit.

I just love people's tendencies to group a serious coherect objective internet journalists to whom it is a JOB, with some occasional simple bloggers. :)

What's that? What was said about it?

The truth about Wow being a dead horse(paraphrasing it)?. Don't remember exactly, but he talked quite a lot about the flaws of expansion and game itself, as well as community and had quite good arguments on why he will never ever ever ever return to wow again.

@op
man does make quite good points on just why exactly games like torcraft should NOT exist.

raging at him just because you have different opinion, while at the same time NOT argumenting yours is immature.

That said, "Age of Wushu" is bassically are-titled USA version of Age of Wulin :)

That looks neat.  Interesting that such a sandbox decided to include so much naval gameplay...  How did they fit all this into one game??
They have balls to make it so that players have to man cannons instead of everyone getting their own ship.  I really like that!!

Actually naval gameplay does have quite a big purpose, namely exploration.

Since game allows to BUILD anywhere on ocean islands. ALSO you need to transport resources to the third continent if you want to colonize there. Also trading will most likely happen through naval stuff too. Also you can steal the stuff that is being transported. Also being a pirate/criminal is a feasible way of playing.

Add that all up.

Considering player-created factions and nations on third continent and the need for some resources to be transfered via ships, the opposing player countries and factions might want to cut off your supply line for example to win the war.
Or some smart guild sets up a base in some island and starts attacking player ships to get the stuff and sell it to other players.

ANd so on. Potential is huge and the whole naval system is NOT just "tacked on" or added. Its quite integral part of gameplay.

I honestly didn't even know there was a Buffy MMO in the works. I think that franchise's time has long-since passed, this is probably for the best. Yes, I am aware the comics still exist, but the comic industry in itself isn't exactly a thing to base 'success' odds on these days.

considering buffyverse comics are pretty much the most succesful ones out of entire Dark Horse's catalog, I'd beg to differ. :)

Also Buffy will never ever ever be "past its time" :)

(as if retconing KOTOR II in tor is not infuriating enough)

Oh fuck no, they didn't....?

Not sure if sarcasm, but yes. TOR retcons a lot of stuff, like Rakatan language shown in KOTOR I  and Revan Novel + current torcraft plot retcons a lot of Exile's story and significance.

Should I also speak about the now already famous Emperor Of Retcons that pretty much destroyed Revan's character of the KOTOR games?

This is said with due respect to the author of the column: this really feels like a "Have to say something bad about SWTOR" article to me. Especially considering so many dancing around with their death masks on proclaiming the game does not have enough content to keep people interested.

Frankly game DOES NOT have enough content.

Bioware was better off:

1) making it within the timespan of KOTOR.

2) making it singleplayer.

3) making it closer to KOTOR story-style and play style and art style.

The "mmo" just does not stick to this title. If you take out voiced quests its bassically TORCRAFT, the wow in space.

KOTOR should have never become mmo and eveyrone should have gotten a perfect third part of the game closing the series for good instead of this(as if retconing KOTOR II in tor is not infuriating enough)

Sad sad news.

I would take a good quality S8-S9-comics Buffy mmorpg over 99% of mmos out there right now.

Hell the transition from S8 to S9 could begranded and more realistic than WoW:Cataclysm was considering the scale, not to mention gameplay changes and alterations that would happen(case in point: magic, vampires, etc)

Buffyverse has a HUGE amount of lore to incorporate and work upon and it would be a hell of amazing mmo or rpg, although Whedon should be involved in dialogue.

Firefly on other hand would make an awesome sandbox.

Not surprising, considering TORcraft offers nothing new.

I guess it will be the same story as with Dragon age II. People will buy buy buy. Then they will see what they bought and hype will slowly die.
