do you think there is any chance AoC will look as good as crysis
General Discussion « Age of Conan 12/05/07 2:26:08 AM
At least in screenshots and videos AoC looks pretty damn good to me - and I'm pretty sure that's going to be the reason I have to upgrade my computer in near future. Now I just need to come up with a perfect explanation for my girlfriend, why I must spend around 2000€ in an "already working computer." (If I upgrade something, I gotta upgrade almost everything.) |

How many have you killed in PVP (at once)?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/05/07 2:09:26 AM
In EVE I pretty much suck in PvP and I'm only good in one on one. In Vanguard I managed to kill 3 players with my Varanjar rogue, all around my level. (But in Vanguard rogues can blind with smoking powder, kick kneecaps and poison healers etc. They are a really nice class compared to WoW's rogues.) Oh, and my latest success was in POTBS where I managed to kill 3 spanish players who jumped on me with loops. Guess they thought they could surround me and nuke from close range. Lucky that my Agamemnon's Reaper fit was packing raider cannons and got huge bonuses on close range. One full load of cannons from short range trashed their armors fully and structure in half. |

The game was just clumsy to play. Moving around and the UI felt really strange. The overall experience was, that Lineage II was like a body without limbs. I really don't know how to explain it. After two days I decided to give myself a break. Some might say I quit too early and I should have given the game more time to prove itself being better... Oh well. |

Guess they thought TR would have been more popular and now they just need to get at least something while it's still possible. |

Resubscribed after 4 months - REVIEW
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 12/04/07 5:27:43 PM
Funny thing in Vanguard was the phrase "seamless world" where you were supposed to be able to walk around freely with now loading areas. Once you actually hit the seam, your game froze for a moment while it loaded the new area. Meanwhile you character kept running forwards and once the loading was complete suddenly you were back in the same spot and pulled mobs from miles away. Don't even remember how many times I died because of that. That and the overall feel of the game being unfinished made the game really frustrating to play. Like you said Morgaur, it was like playing the beta. No matter how much I wanted to like the game, I gave up and stept to the background to watch the game slowly pass away. Oh, forgot to mention: a really good review Morgaur. That's the way I feel about Vanguard too. |

Are *YOU* Pessimistic or Optimistic About Future MMORPGs? [Poll]
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/03/07 7:21:47 PM
I really don't know what to expect from up coming MMORPG's. So far the ones just recently finished have many good ideas and the first two weeks the game feels like "This is the one!" but none of them seem to keep my attention very long after that. I guess I've become pretty picky. Right now I have high hopes on AOC. It's the only one visually appealing me and all I hear is good things about it. I feel so lost without a game that keeps my up all night and screws up my real life. I'm stuck on spending my time on reality. |

You know what would make this game a great success?
General Discussion « Age of Conan 12/03/07 7:01:50 PM
Being able to loot someone you kill in PvP would bring corpsecamping into new level. How annoying would the game get in short period? Of course some of you guys think it's "against the policy" but there are still those asshats in every game who like to do it. Dying in PvP because of lag or getting gangbanged by a group of veteran players in noob area would surely leave all the casual players pretty cold. I vote no for hardcore looting if it's not restricted in any way. For example in EVE Online, it's your own fault if you go to lowsec alone and get your ass kicked by a pirate player, and that seems to work out pretty well. Maybe something like that would work in AOC too. |

The best part in POTBS is when you enter in the battle with some npc or another player. From open sea to instanced battle. The graphics are really neat, all the sea and island around you looks very realistic - and I love it how I can see the whole crew doing their things, some loading cannons and others climbing up the mast to scout around etc. The ambient sounds, weather effects, ocean waves and ship's hull creak are very realistic and thats sailing at it's best. If you ask me, they should have ditched the whole open sea concept and keep sailing in instanced view. Would make it much more realistic and fun... Though traveling around might take years.. |

When is this game coming out? It looks pretty neat. WoW and it's upcoming clone WAR is going to eat dirt once this babe pops out. |

***WARNING***Game is complete trash~~~
General Discussion « Hellgate: London 12/02/07 9:05:55 AM
I couldn't even play the HGL tutorial through. It was such a torturing experience. It really wasn't a game for me but I'm glad theres people who actually enjoy from it. We'll see how long it lasts. |

After playing almost 3 years I quit EVE since I got bored of the constant isk sellers, and devs who can't or wont do anything to stop it - and the fact that after couple years the game don't have much to offer anymore. I just gets boring. Also half of the pilots you encounter in game are just mindless macrominers and other half tries to do everything to exploit the game mechanics like highsec kamikaze gatecamps etc. Still, Eve was a good game. The first game that kept me hooked for so long and I'm sure it only gets better with Trinity. Maybe they even try to make the eve-store working. So far I've ordered two times there, first time I got only half of my shipments and second time I got nothing. And the sucky part is that you get no refund "since I have to blame finnish post-office from losing my shipment". Yeah right. Be careful if you ever order anything from there. |

isnt this the same as voyage century online?
General Discussion « Bounty Bay Online 11/27/07 3:55:18 PM
This is like exact copy from Voyage century. Even the game UI is the same. What the hell is this? |

Answer to your question Shard: No matter how I look, WAR does seem like a WoW's brother. The game mechanics itself might be different in many ways, but the tilesets and skins are cartoonish in very similar way and from the same era. Not saying it's a bad thing, at least it looks like you don't need a state of art computer to run it. Maybe that's a good way to lure more subscribers. |

All I can say you is "It's just awesome in every possible way and it keeps getting better and better the more you play. " There, I didn't brake the NDA either did I? |

Why do MMO companies think they can charge monthly for a beta game?

Good thing nowadays is that when you get hooked with beta account, you can actually help the game devs with their works with hammering out bugs etc. - AND try the game before you buy it. If you manage to get into late beta, it's pretty easy to see if the game is actually ever going the be The Game it advertises to be. Now I got few more betas to do and after that I'll be able to choose which game is the next mmorpg i'll throw my pennies in. My word to you gamers: If possible try getting accepted in beta phase or wait at least for a trial account and avoid being f*cked by the greedy gaming companies with their loose promises. Whev what a rant. |

All servers in Age of Conan have OPEN PvP in them.
General Discussion « Age of Conan 11/15/07 4:17:47 AM
Open PvP sounds like a really nice feature, even though I've never been that addicted on it. After playing so many crippled MMORPGs AoC just looks and feels too damn good in every possible way to be true. Well, finally I have a game to wait. Right now I just gotta roll my thumbs and make up something to make the time pass. There should be a thread how to kill time, if you'r not into any MMORPGs currently on the market. |
