Since when has a single raider used text chat :/
Voice recognition software just isn't good enough right now for all the interactions required in an mmo. The simple commands wouldn't feel natural at all. |

Boulders, Trees, Bushes, Mounds... All useless because of Enemy Name Tags.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/27/13 10:34:22 AM
I've not played an mmo that has enemies on radar, but in gw2 and planetside 2 you can't see healthbars, and in gw2 no names until they are close.
Being occluded in any way really should remove the interface stuff for them though. Or just give everyone stealth like in aoc / teso etc |

Still love it, though TSW is a nice companion game to it, with its more oldschool mechanics and dark theme.
Since GW2 is b2p you can put it in the same section as any other b2p games and it stands up very well in my opinion. |

Good news :) It was a bit easy. Hope they do the same to CoF :p
And the colour coding is much appreciated. I wish all posts were as concise as this one. |

GW2: So We Are 80 What Now? Where do we go from here?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 2/27/13 10:20:41 AM
Just keep doing what you were doing for fun before you reached 80. The level cap isn't some magical number that changes the game.

Originally posted by patlefort and many people play an mmo for the combat system. It goes both ways. I'm an artist and I think censorship is pointless in something that's already M, regardless of what it is. It's just insulting to the legitimate players.
Either way they could at least have censored it in an artistic way, like with tera they don't look completely out of place. |

This Game Looks Like WoW But Has Better Gameplay?
General Discussion « WildStar 2/24/13 8:45:13 AM
The art style is like Pixar not WoW. Better is something only you can say after playing since it's subjective.

hmm I thought the settler path was all open world stuff. If that's not the case I am now sad.

Is Wildstar headed to be one of the biggest mmo flops? Or a success?
General Discussion « WildStar 2/22/13 9:49:53 PM
I'm not going to get my hopes up, so i'll enjoy it a lot more when it comes out :)
It will definitely get enough people to make a worthy community, I don't care for millions+

What will the combat be like?
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn 2/22/13 8:39:12 AM
Since I'm currently playing gw2 this does interest me, the community is really nice in my experience (visiting a friend and watching while she played :p) Probably because it's a forced grouping game, so you have to be nice or be exiled. |

Is this MMO concept viable for todays RPGrs?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/21/13 9:32:08 PM
If you're going to have that many factions may as well just have purely player created factions like in EVE.
And having the ability to vote "no pvp" would end up like EVE china, where everyone allied into one super alliance to grind pve. |

What can developers do when making a MMO to improve the community?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/21/13 9:26:54 PM
Originally posted by Rthuth434 mmos used to be a lot smaller, it's much harder to police these days.
The main policing is done by players, ostracisizing antisocial people. Alas many mmos these days don't have the power in the player's hands. |

Deep character build systems Poll included
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/20/13 8:31:39 AM
I just wish all the numbers could be taken out sometimes, or more vague (like many of the traits in gw2 - chance to cause burning on hit, but not telling you what that % is). min-maxers ruin games for me sometimes.

PvPers: Which MMO are you currently playing?

I don't pvp much but when I do it's in GW2 (spvp) and league of legends.

Open sourced content is the definition of a sandbox. If you can't make things in the game that weren't there before you joined, then it's not a sandbox is it :p

After GW2 do you want the holy trio back?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/20/13 6:20:26 AM
tbh the gw2 system just needs a couple of tweaks, you can already spec towards tankyness and healing, but the coefficients for toughness (threat) and healing are a bit low, if they were higher the roles you can already spec into would be more visible.
My support characters do make dungeons go more smoothly, I love how you can tank things for a short time and then have to get out. I just loved the Age of Conan system back when I played it, where cc and protecting yourself (And your party!) was important, since healing was limited like in gw2.
I love pulling mobs off my squishy party members, all tanky setups allow you to repeatedly disable enemies just like tanks do in trinity games. Support spec allows you to save people's lives, just like in trinity games.
The main issue in gw2 is that there isn't much difficult content once you understand the mechanics and conditions.
tl;dr It's not the system that's broken, it's the implementation - most games are not trinity and they work fine. |
