I just want to point out bioware has the right to do whatever with their game.. BUT over half on many polls on TOR forums after being explained as well as in beta forums showed that people would rather have FPS style space. Yes they designed it the way they wanted but we are here to talk about what we wanted!

This is like asking "why didn't they go with Perma death?" 

Its not in their design choices.  They didn't want to make a game where you could just level to 16, get in a space ship and then spend the rest of the game in a ship.  The type of game they make is a story RPG with characters and dialogue choices and such.  The game they made is exactly like what they make. 

It would make no logical sense to do what you wanted them to do.  Flying around in a space ship does not make for good story telling, going places WITH that ship on part of a long branching story arc (which is what occurs in the movies and books) DOES make for good story telling and is entirely within the realm of Star Wars.

You guys don't want a star wars game, you want a space shooter like Wing commander.

Star Wars the only game that does not have proper space LOL... If this was 1993 and a cheap knock off of some scene from the movies id understand...

They just wanted to go with the Rail Shooter, regardless of feedback.   It is likely they see it as a mini-game, and do not consider it an important element of the game -- thus not being concerned with the criticism of it.    My guess is that they feel those that like it will play the space, and those that dont, will simply play the ground game more.

I'm just frustrated I guess.

I never wanted an exact replica of what SWG did, just something a little more open and less on rails.

I guess we'll see what they come up with in their improvements.

I don't comment on youtube so I'll comment on them here but I found myself watching the videos and thinking that you sound like me talking to myself in my head.  Not sure if that makes sense or not. lol  Good vids and shows a lot of the elements of the game for folks who maybe didn't get to test out the game.  +1 for you!

Over the years I have noticed MMORPG going down hill none stop. This has pretty much and this my personal opinion turned into 4chan MMORPG edition. Instead of actually checking out news and reading comments on and about the new great content you get an argument how it's good or bad not actually on how it works or where to go or anything like that just pure total drama. Then I check the forums on the latest MMORPG and people take their sad time trolling and dishing out insults about other games.. BUT WAIT if you make a valid argument like this game blows crap because I played THEN hey it's totally allowed!

I mean what happen? Trolling has gotten bad and I mean really bad over the years on the internet. But damn you think some of the major sites would actually try to have some last respect for yourself. Well I guess money does not grow on respect it grows on numbers.

My site suggestion? Hire more mods and prevent all this hate and like on the forums period unless it's only if people ask for feedback or it's a VS thread. If someone posting sharing their experince there should be no comments like meh this game sucks or this game could done better or ohh I hate the music. Who cares what you think we are here for the people who enjoy that game.

What I have noticed overtime is that the people hate the game or dislike it love talking about it and disliking it. I assume people who dislike olives go to their local olive factories and bash them out too. I must give credit to bioware for doing a good job at pretty much telling these people off.

Rather then ignore these people who complain or demand a full redone of the game they pretty much said go eff off this is how our game is made and this is how were doing it.

Thanks Bioware for not ruining the game like Blizzard did for casual wannabe hardcore players.

I will not lie I said the game starts at level 10 where all the things start showing up. 1-10 is pretty much the old fashion just learn how to play the game etc... Makes sense since clearly MMORPG's have now been created for casual gamers... From there... Yeah not so casual haha. It gets fun and confusing for a bit and its pretty enjoyable. I can't wait. Now I will admit I downgraded from collectors to standard but not because I feel the game fails just I felt why spend $100 more when I can just buy a year of playtime well not quite but you get the pont...

TBH Would I change the start? No WHY? Because this is what other MMORPG's have done mainly Age of Conan is an amazing example. They did it to fracking good from the start and was unable to do something as good as that again.

I see 1+ as a warm-up for what's to come - and really, it's more of a tutorial and display of new features than anything else. I did't expect the starter zones to absolutely blow me away, but they pleased me well enough. What can one expect from a starting area? It's certainly better than WoW or LOTRO's boring sprawl.

Yeah exactly. Bioware did not try to sell their game with the first 10 levels like Funcom did with theirs and then scammed everyone.
