Most amazing MMORPG on the planet.
Beta Reviews & Impressions [ARCHIVED] « The Secret World 5/11/12 12:15:58 PM

Guild Wars 2: Open Beta and Release This Year - Year of the Dragon

Originally posted by Master10K Yes defying everything but time. They said closed betas for 2011 and started them in December. I don't really see them releasing the game within a month or two of large open beta testing (we assume large, we don't really know how big or at what level they will increase over time). I say not even September, these guys are going to try and get this game as "polished" as Rift *he said choking on his words*. |

Guild Wars 2: Open Beta and Release This Year - Year of the Dragon

Originally posted by Leucent Well server statuses don't really show the actual population just what SWTOR decided was the server limit. The question is, how much interaction do you see while you're playing on the servers, how many times do you play non-huttball games, and how long is the wait to get into 4-man heroics.
Isn't that what SWTOR has now for their endgame. It's hard to say what will happen with GW2, there's still a lot of info that hasn't been released. But we shall see at release I guess. |

SWTOR's endgame is an absolute disaster.

Guild Wars 2: The RPG Element
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/17/12 9:19:40 AM
You're kidding right? SWTOR just offers you different scenes within a main story, that's not RPG. Just hit eescape and do almost any conversation over, you may get a different reaction to your response but the next scene is always identical with the same choices. When you can actually change the shape of a place then it's different. SWTOR employs nothing more than a bunch of smoke and mirrors and people have eaten it up. |

I completely understand the idea that artistic qualities are combined with the rating, but I question the use of the term "Graphics" to describe the category in that case. I think for the majority of the gaming world the term graphics refers to graphic quality, not the artistic design or leanings. For the current technology the graphical textures and everything else having to do with the quality of the designs are horrible. I might as well be wearing paper mache than steel. I remember when they put out their "graphics/texture improvements" in what like '08? I downloaded it and was all excited, and was completely let down. It still looked like a game from the 90's in my opinion, and that was supposed to be some sort of amazing upgrade. Even with all my setting turned to 11 I was just completely amazed how everyone was praising the improvment. BILLIONS of dollars and that's what we have. The most successful MMO EVER, and the graphics still look like I'm playing a game from the turn of the century. On top of this, are people really going to sit here and defend the art? Everyone running around in the same thing? Same colors? I think maybe one outfit and one weapon tops was ever even close to something that made me say "Eh, that looks cool" Most of it had shoulder pads that, if I actually wore them, would send sharp spike into my brain had my head been moved to the left or right a half an inch, and some even disappeared into my head when I put them on. If the artistic is being counted in a category labelled as "Graphics" the number still shouldn't be 8.6. the Artistic is only half of the rating so at most, if some people thought the art was something special it should be rated somewhere above a low 5, because the other part of it is the actually graphics quality which is pretty terribly low. I know the rating system is all based on individual judgment, but I think it's time for this 8 year old game to be re-rated or something. It's pretty ridiculous. |

Yeah I serioulsy have no doubt on that. I mean there really needs to be some sort of degrading system. When you score something higher your other scores go down or something, or a User rating wipe every so often or something, because it's pretty ridiculous that on one of the largest MMO sites WOW has a 8.6 graphics rating. |

I'm just wondering why the visuals on World of Warcraft are the second highest number on their rating. Should there be an annual wipe of a games ratings to reset it's true numbers? I know a lot of people enjoy the graphics of the game, for some reason, but I mean, come on, 9,000 people voted and it's graphics are at 8.6? The graphics on WOW are less than sub par compared to almost any other AAA MMORPG on the market, it's ranked higher than Star Wars. I know SWTOR is a new game so it should have way better graphics than they allow, but still they are better than WOW's. |

Rift: Server Merges Incoming
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/12/12 11:14:18 AM
Anti-rifters: "OMG it's a sign that RIFT is failing a horrible flamming death of epic proportions." Pro-rifters: "I still see a ton of people while I'm running around. Obviously it's just a wise decision to bring more players together from the almighty Trion"
Can we just be real? The subscriptions have dropped so they have to bring servers together instead of spending money to keep extra machinery running for servers that were designed to hold many more players. The game is not going to shut down anytime soon, but it is a sign of it's popularity declining. |

Originally posted by Azorith I guess you could say 8 classes with a month worth of content, but honeslty you can cut that in half because the majority of the content overlaps for at least two classes on each side. So yeah you may be able to play for a month to get to fifty but I think you'll be tired of a lot of thecontent before you make it to level 20. |

Originally posted by Gylfi All entertainment, yes that includes mainstream gaming simulations, are nothing more than ways to feed your laziness. I mean geez man I landed a spaceship at NASA my first try when I was 11 years old. And seriously if you've never played EVE then I don't even know why you said anything to begin with, looks to me like you're just a troll looking for attention by posting nonsensical jargon that you read in some book made by other people who are just like you. You're worse than the guys you're pratteling on about because you're telling them how sad they are for playing an entertaining game by giving them, what you think is intelligent, information about how they should be playing EVE because of it's real world applications and yet you've never even played the game to know how it actually works, making your entire comment a complete waste of your time because instead of posting comments about things you know nothing about, you could be reading a book to learn something that could help the real world. So we'll stick to our entertaining and exciting games we play and I guess you can stick to telling us how we're wasting our lives while you spend yours doing even less. |

Originally posted by Gylfi So EVE isn't an online simulation? It really sounds like you've been playing EVE waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long, dude. You should get up and answer that door because you need to see the real world. And no, waiting for the fabled "walk around the space dock" patch is not what I'm talking about. |

Question about release state.
Questions & Answers « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/09/12 3:37:49 PM
Please no flaming, I'm just asking a question I legitimately want to know the answer to. I played beta from September to Novemeber, but lost interest, mostly because with my schedule and life I found it hard to play any game for long periods of time. I'm sure it improved a little. I found the game fun, but not much different than anything else out. Had plenty of interaction with Voice overs in DCOnline. Here's my main question: During Beta there were a large amount of bugs that would keep characters from progressing in the story for specific classes, and so I found myself switching and creating alts. When I did this I discovered that, for Sith you were playing every single quest over, same places, same quests, same choices, for both the inquisitor and warrior. Same for bounty hunter and for imperial agent. I stayed away from the Jedi until the last release I played and then gave in and made a Smuggler. I lost interest because of life somewhere around level 29. Has this changed at all? I found it extremely irritating that it seemed alts were pretty much useless in Beta. Did they expand at all, or are you pretty much replaying everything for the two similar classes on each side? Up until I hit the glitch with my Sith Warrior and had to make an alt, I absolutely had a blast for the most part. It was slightly repetitive in a WOWish way (Lord and don't flame that I'm a hater from that comment because really the game is very similar to WOW, which I enjoyed for many years) and many times I simply skipped the voice overs and cut scenes for the side quests the higher up I got, but having to hear the exact same thing on my alt was ridiculous to me. |
