Why are you so hostile towards crafters?
How did we ruin the SWG experience for you?
Will someone in this forum community please explain to me why there is so much subtle(and not so subtle) hostility towards crafting and crafters? (in general, irregardless of a particular game)
I really am at a loss?
No I don't think you are at loss here.
I've seen players like these all to often before and I think they just need someone to blame for their own shortcomings. Needless to say, dedicated MMO crafters are often an easy target for these short minded people.
I mean again just look at the SWG fiasco, they got their wishes through in SWG when crafting was made useless and un-needed (and with it the rest of the game overall simplified). However after all crafters, their supporters and a whole community left, they were still not happy and left soon after or stayed on and kept on wondering where everyone went.
I apologize. My hostility is not aimed towards the crafters themselves. In hindsight, I think my comments were perhaps a bit harsh. The reason for my frustration is that I have personally found some elements of crafting in certain other games to be very tedious and unenjoyable. I know that many others do not share my opinions in this regard, and I don't really mean to say that I hope Bioware does not make the game enjoyable for those individuals as well...
I guess my only goal is to say that I hope Bioware's approach to the crafting system does not force players such as myself (who don't really enjoy crafting) to craft in order to stay competitive. Personally, I am looking forward to the action and immersive RPG storyline most of all. I just don't want to be forced into crafting in any way.
As long as they can do that AND throw in the crafting element you guys are looking for, I'm all for it...
I wish developers would stop forcing me to do combat. It doesnt need to be the sole focus of a game. And no I dont want to play Second Life either.
I like the combat environment and to occasionally dabble in it but Id prefer to have the option to not do it. I'd rather craft and run a virtual business but be a part of a combat community that needs my effort (and appreciates it).
Thats why we crafters loved SWG so very much. For once an MMO gave us social people a playable option that was worth something.
Exactly, I had an established weaponsmith and was part smuggler so I was able to jump in with a group that were doing the Geo cave or Corvette or defend a faction base or just to pvp. Player level didn't exist and didn't matter back then, now a crafter even at 90 can't do much in combat other than auto shoot.
