You guys are to blame (and only you), not SOE.
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 3/16/08 12:44:04 PM
Yup, what do you think happened to Matrix Online after SOE picked it up? A week later hordes of players complained and cancelled.

On server merges and the inevitiable...

Planetside isn't an RPG, it's a straight up FPS with MMO capacity. Look at Tabula Rasa for more of a FPS/RPG combination, they did it better than SOE did with the NGE, the "sticky" target lock is a great feature. When the NGE first came out (and it still occurs today sometimes) was when you held the mouse button down to attack someone you'd get a text spam across your screen "sending trade request" over and over and over, it got VERY annoying, and you couldn't attack something through a crowd of friendlies nor specifically target 1 thing out of a mob. TR's "sticky" feature works past those. |

What do you think is going to happen here?

It'll be VERY hard to believe or predict when the plug will be pulled (if ever), look at PlanetSide and Matrix Online, their plugs should have been pulled years ago. |

Heh, like I said before, probably never played another MMO and tunnel visioned on this NGE. |

SWG was ALOT of fun without Jedi up until around March 2004 when Guardians started showing up, but even then when you first saw a player Jedi you would go "OH WOW!". There were tons of things to do without being a Jedi back then, the economy was probably the best thing and I loved going to other player cities and shopping for bargains. |

His apology was referring to the timing of the NGE release, not the NGE itself- they would have still released it at a later date regardless of community protest. |

Skipping all this yaddayaddayadda, let me tell you there were *NO SUCH THREADS* that existed complaining about server population before the NGE or CU. Why are they constantly popping up now? People from Bria, Chilastra, Bloodfin and StarSider need to look at the 21 other servers. |

I've seen EVE in EB Games, hell even Ultima Online and Lineage. I rarely ever see any SOE titles anymore, maybe an Everquest (Online Adventure) box here and there for like $4 CDN. During the Christmas season I did come across a Station access box for $9 CDN. |

Nah, nothing has sunk as fast as SWG did after the NGE, there's some old games that are still going strong: the Everquest 2, Lineage, Final Fantasy, heck even City of Heroes. But none of the games the past has lost so many subscribers in such a short time like SWG did, plus pretty much all the other SOE titles has dropped drastically in mid-2006. |

Weapons crafters, "Can we have a useful place in the game again?" SOE, "no."
SWG Veteran Refuge « Star Wars Galaxies 3/11/08 9:17:10 AM
The Everquest series are the only ones SOE has ever done any good with, but even recently they changed crafting in EQ2 and people are leaving. RMT is definately looking like a future part of SOE products, only a small minority of current MMO gamers out there pays for in game money from farmers, and in game items (you find them on ebay) for SWG or CoH/V and WoW but a mass majority are against it, I'd say about 85%+. |

I think its time to Redo the game Completely. SWG 2
General Discussion « Star Wars Galaxies 3/11/08 9:10:29 AM
Well from my observation at the official SWG forums, crafting is no longer an interest in the near future for the game, devs are increasingly pushing it aside, as for open worlds- it's more like instanced worlds.

That's part of the reason why I stopped playing MMOs altogether, they're all the same now, even City of Heroes/Villains slowly crept towards the typical MMO theme with "purple" enhancements and the auction house and even the character stats sheet. Tabula Rasa was my last MMO, it wore me out fairly quicky, not sure if I'm going to boter with anymore MMOs until I find out what Bioware is working on. |

There's 168 hours in a week, and his Xfire sig shows 115 hours this past week, holy christ. Seriously Obraik, consider another MMO and maybe, just maybe you'll then see just how bad SWG is compared to some of the other titles. |

Why dont they just let it die already...don't bother with Vanguard.
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 3/09/08 11:25:50 AM
This is true, you can find the station package for $9 (Canadian $ even) then pay the $30/mo, and most of the games on the pass are "dead" or not doing very well, Planetside, MxO, EQ, SWG, while VG and PoTBS are slowly sliding on a downwards hill.

I think TR is a cool game, great change from the hundreds of fantasy clone games out there right now, but TR is a bit too shallow- got 2 chars up to 30 and cloned 4 different classes and made some hybrids and it went downhill from there, much like my 4 months of WoW when I got my shaman up into the 50's I lost interest (also got a priest to 46, hunter to 42, warrior to 36).

RG's demo at E3 in 2004 or 2005 had fantasy characters, it was very very different than what it is now. There should be a video of it on youtube. |

Hey do remember or know how we first heard about the NGE? It was also a "friend of a friend" type thing, it started in August-Sept 2005 and none of us took it seriously, things like "Jedi as a starting profession" with reference "from an inside source" and such, I still remember the very first post on the official SWG forums referring to it, "I just came back from Austin, we tested this new star wars game and I think it's awesome". And this was just 4 months into the combat upgrade, who was to take THAT seriously? It wasn't until the end of Octobor (a few days after publish 24) a dev stepped in and announced that it was going on testcenter, that's when servers like Bria were littered with protesters that forced CSRs to spawn Jedi sentinals and SBDs.
