Yes they do. But I suspect NCsoft has even more.  I was sad to see Warhammer go, but it was all too predictable.  I hope the tech staff all manage to find new jobs.
Lets count NC Soft: AutoAssault, Dungeon runners, Dragonica, Tabula Rasa EA: E&B, WAR But EA dont kill games it kills developers here the list is quite long, to mention only the better: Orgin, Bullfrog, Maxis, Westwood, Mythic, Dice, Pandemic. On life support  Bioware.
Your post was perfect, up until DICE being dead and Bioware on life support...
Actually, you forgot NC Soft's killing of City of Heroes, arguably part of the reason superhero stuff is so popular nowadays. And yes, I do agree that Bioware is on life support.  Clearly, from the last few games they've released, their quality control and attention to detail have suffered at the hands of their new EA overlords.  I think Dragon Age Origins was the last title that Bioware did without much interference.
Mass Effect 2&3 were both under their watch. Mass Effect 3 was the best in the series up until the ending. If you think EA had anything to do with the actual story ending of the game, your EA hate is blinding you :P

And Again, DICE has never made a terrible game yet, and has been under EA since 2004. BF4 was buggy as shit at launch, but every previous BF game was awsome, as is BF4 since the patches went in.

EA killed many studios, but lets not exaderate just to be cool ;)

I was a big fan of Battlefield games up until BF4, their way of trying to follow CoD gameplay with BF3 and now BF4 turned me off. BF4 is an absolute mess in many ways, BF3 wasn't as buggy nor unstable as BF4 has ever been but with Back to Karkand DLC BF3 just turned into a Call of Duty clone with the stupid gameplay (get 50 kills with a rocket launcher for a weapon unlock which made maps like Metro unbearable, should have been something like 25 vehicle kills- just one example). Bad Company 1 & 2 weren't really traditional Battlefield games, yet they were among the most fun, besides BF1942's Desert Combat mod.

So yes, DICE is well on its way down, I'm not going to even bother with their Battlefront game, and I heard rumors that DCG are going to do BF5 anyways.

Wow that was a short life for such a game, Tabula Rasa was shut down faster (~2 years) but that was due to NCSoft's actions considering their fued with Richard Garriot, not the devs' decision.

I played the trial years ago and it felt a lot like Vanguard, it didn't interest me.

EDIT- oops forgot about Earthrise, 1 year for that game... LMAO.

Here is the solution to not have to deal with the greed in SWToR if you really wanna play SWToR. Buy a subscription. Really subs only cost you what 15 dollars a month? (13 euro's for me at least). I took a break from SWToR. Came back after two months and tried the F2P part. I was shocked by the price of just about everything. Not able to even buy extra inventory space with ingame money, nope had to pay for real. At the costs half the price of a sub. Just for one extra row of inventory. No thanks. I subbed again and with a sub you have access to all the game mechanics without having to pay any extra real money. I will never understand why people think F2P is the best model. Its way more expensive then subs if you want to experience all the game content.

People also need to start thinking. All those who shout F2P is a better business model then B2P or Subs should notice that EA is a huge fan of F2P. Start think why. EA is the most greedy company out there (well shared first place with Activision). Why would they be a fan of F2P...o thats right, cause F2P means way more income then subs or B2P. That is the only reason why they implanted it, cause it makes them very rich. Not only in MMO's, they also want to insert it in other games. C&C recently got canceled but the idea was to provide you with a F2P model too, where you could buy modules to expand the game with a singleplayer, better units, etc. And they shouted very hard F2P is the future. They only do that if it makes them really rich. So start thinking about it people, F2P isn't free at all. Subs and B2P are waaaaaaaay cheaper.

John Riccitiello wanted to add microtransactions to Battlefield 4, thank God he stepped down, now you only get battlepacks per rank (battlepacks were going to be part of the RMT model). I'll stab my eyes if FPS games ever get that shit, they already have "season pass" for add-ons and DLC's.

Same thing happened on Star Trek Online forums, anytime you said something negative about the game the thread would get deleted and you'd get an infraction or warning. Communism on the internet now?

SWTOR's graphics don't look all that dated, just that HeroEngine wasn't even finished when Bioware picked it up hence it's not able to be used to its potential. And after seeing Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online, I don't have any hopes for that one, Ghost Recon online is waaaaaaaaay too console-ish for my liking... and I'm pretty much a Ghost Recon vet (except I hated RAW and RAW 2).

The more advanced game graphics becomes, the more problems games arrives with. Take a good hard look at Battlefield 4 and Total War: Rome 2 for example. Even PlanetSide 2 still has optimization issues, SOE really needs to iron those out with the Forgelight engine before Everquest: Next is ready.

Surely it's greedy to expect someone to create and maintain something and expect everything for free?

P2P that's the way, however, as many people do not like that and would rather a 'free' option this is what we must all put up with now.
F2P games with a cash shop generates way more money than a monthly sub game does, people can play as often ore as little as they please without being forced to play when paying a monthly sub, and then shell out tons of cash to buy items in the shop.

Hmmm 20 years of MMORPG ? In 2013 ? Curious sig !

What kind of massively multiplayer did u play in 1993 when there wasn't even Internet in 99.9% of the world ? Not to mention that UO wasn't even a project back then.

I'm just curious, cuz, i started when it started and, in 1993, i was still playing street fighter 2 on Super Nintendo. Waaayyyy before anything like, Internet, Smartphones, Email, tweets, facebook, and all that shit happened. Hell, mobiles phones (that didn't fit in a suitcase) didn't even exist ! Those were good days tho, Wu-Tang Clan on the radio and people actually had physical contact with each other.

MUD games on BB's maybe? And yes brick phones existed back then, I had one and was able to shove it in a briefcase and flip phones followed suit in 94-95. :P

I can guess that you weren't born before the year 2000.

lol SWTOR 2 will never happen, most of Bioware disolved anyways. There will be other SW based games, Battlefront will be one of them, but I have no faith in EA, they continue to go in a bad direction no matter what. I'm disappointed in this because I'm a long time SW fan and EA is one of the worst gaming companies so this paints a sour image for the future of Star Wars.

Now I only hope JJ Abrams does a good job with the next Star Wars movie, that's all that matters to me, screw SW based games.

You didn't actually think that camo actually worked as "camo" in this game did you?  It's just for looks.

Camo is very useful, pick the right one for the environment you're in and you're going to be hard to spot.

However changing the way camo works on vehicles is pretty stupid, Magrider and Scythe show a lot of purple no matter what camo you put on them.

Oh yes, I have to chime in and say I've been noticing some rather weird stuff lately, last night and today I'm coming across ADAD macro'ers, but some of them has something else ontop of the ADAD macro- there was this medic moving at normal speed (sprinting) and I started shooting at his back then suddenly he was strafing left and right at ridiculous speeds turns around and manages to kill me, like going left then going right about 20 feet in 0.5 seconds and then back. There's hacks where you can bind to a hotkey and toggle it on and off so it doesn't seem obvious, but it's still obvious when you see a player that seems to be normal then suddenly is superhuman and close quarter fights are getting worse with these ADAD macro'ing and warping and when I encounter close fights I've been resorting to just swinging the knife instead of trying to line up the shot since the knife usually seems to do the trick.

I recently got back into this because I wanted some single player mmo action. Returning to the game first time since 2 months after launch I got to see all the awful F2P limits. It's like they actually spent development time creating ways to punish you for not paying. I'm not one to shy away from paying for subscriptions as I current have 3 active ones, but this was downright shameful. 1 profession allowed unless you're subbed? Why even have professions at all? 1 hotbar? WTF?

I bought CE the first day of pre-order and I don't even get the "preferred" account (just like silver on SOE games)

You're kidding, you didn't get preferred status??? They originally were going to make us pay for extra hotbars but decided to allow us to use 4-6 hotbars as preferred, but the rest you have to shell cash out for (hide helmet, show title, 2nd and higher tier pvp gear, blahblahblah). I still have about 10Kish cartel coins waiting for me but they want me to sub to redeem it all... ha not happening.

Originally posted by Anthur I maybe wrong, but looking at the post history of OP, the number of posts and the content, something is fishy about this post. Just my oppinion.
Well, you can't subsribe and already have 1000 posts written. The OP's question is also positive, so why would you call that post fishy? :) You kind of sound paranoid lol.
Becouse there are people employed by corporations whos work is to mislead people and convince them to buy some product? Fanboys arent exactly trustworthy either and they are plenty. Just saying
The game can be tried without spending a dime. So you don't have to buy something. This all sounds too paranoid lol. Or maybe you think I am paid too :p
The game can be tried, yet not experienced,   Without spending a dime.   If someone wants a great game, this model EA has implemented is not very good.  Too many restrictions.  Everything walled off.  Barebones is how I would classify it for a new player.   EA should have just given the whole game away for free, with a cash-shop.  That would make this game popular.   Limiting credits (currency), and making people pay to wear "epic" gear is back-ass backwards.  Limiting how much they can do, like Flashpoints (dungeons) is also stupid.   EA could have done so much right with SWTOR, but they just wanted $$ ... on a F2P model .. disgusting!
Come on, the worth while parts of the game are completely free. The class stories.

Yes, the "single player" aspect of the game. Could've been KOTOR 3 instead.

I'm not an endgame kinda guy, never really liked the concept of max level is were the real game start, most dumb thing ever created, maby thats why I enjoy this game so much, I can play and have fun, no rush, no need of X or Y item just play as intended.

That's the thing about GW2, no need to get to the endgame to actually start playing the game, you basically start right away- especially if you're into pvp, you're at almost the same level as everyone else when it comes to pvp and there's plenty to do in pve though that's not GW2's strong point (nor was GW1's).

The problem with SWTOR is the treadmill method of leveling and pvp sucks until you hit the last bracket... and even then in the last bracket, it still sucks. And apparently SWTOR's endgame is doing dailies on Belsavis and Coruscant since Illum was done away with (good!).

I remember that EALouse bit, nobody believed him and responded with "source" "screenshot or it didn't happen" "troll" "fake and gay", etc. lol. But what EALouse said became true in many ways, Bioware was once a fantastic company only destroyed by EA, EA has destroyed quite a few companies besides Bioware.

I also remember midway through the CU in SWG I saw articles about SWG's "New Gaming Enhacement" tested by the writer and raving about how good it is, we ALL thought that was a joke article because there was NO way SOE would shove the NGE 5 months through the CU, but it happened and man did it ever suck.

Someone mentioned previously about the player limit per instance, it's 250 right now, I remember it used to be 350 and in the first couple months back in 2011-2012 the fleets easily had 2-3 instances.

But ever since then the fleet hasn't looked anything like this (Dec 28, 2011):

Mesmer which I haven't really done anything with since last Octoboer, I should've rolled a Necromancer to begin with but that's the class I've been loving even when it's broken.

Wow... I've played so many MMORPG's since the 90's, GW2 is easily one of the top. Now that they've gotten rid of culling, it's actually shocking to how many people are around you!

So nice to see this done away with, culling is super annoying in many cases. Since it went away in GW2, it seemed to have been intodruced in Planetside 2 now, omg TK'ing friendlies that are in front of you yet aren't on your screen.

Runs great on my Intel system so far, puts a bit of a strain on the AMD system though and there aren't that many people in LA yet.

they should make a sitcom about this

The Big Bang Theory did an episode of everyone playing SWTOR back in winter 2012, a bland episode but it was almost all about that game as if EA paid them to write that particular epsiode.

Here it is:

I felt this game was one of the most polished at launch than almost all games before it. I must have some sort of magical computer, or some of you need to upgrade your stinky computers to something within the last 4-5 years.....or have one with a video card that is actually made for gaming. Get a Solid State Drive and stop being cheap if loading screens bother you.

It ran like SHIT at launch, had to turn down some graphics settings to not get constant stuttering but a couple months later they improved performance that you could crank up the graphics settings. However they couldn't fix Ilum which was a constant lagfest and arena pvp matches were often very laggy, and you couldn't be around anymore than 25 people if you were doing Belsavis dailies or on Tattooine fighting a world boss.

GW2 is more of a pvp focused game, pve is just an afterthought, everytime I log on GW2 I go to the WvWvW or the structure pvp zone. We sometimes do those cave instances on weekends.

But I treat GW2 like an FPS game, it's all about the pvp. :P
