If they had titled it with WoW in the title, I would not have been able to tell that it wasn't WoW and it was actually WAR.

Crysis has an Ultra high settings thats above High and Very high, currently no hardware on the market can even begin to handle it, so it's currently unavailable until a few years in the future, go figure.

But.. No, Conan won't look as good as crysis,

That is wrong.

AoC will not look as good as Crysis, I think it will be quite some time before a game is released with graphics even on par with Crysis. AoC still looks great though, watch some videos, www.stage6.com has alot of decent quality AoC videos to watch.

I'd give my left nut for a beta invite! :p

That's all? I'd give both of mine...

An AoC beta key Christmas giveaway thing would be awesome, I wouldn't mind my chances of getting into beta being risen for a small amount of time.

Wait for AoC, it's coming out in March 2008 but the wait will be well worth it. The graphics are awesome and when released it will make use of your DX10 video card, if you have one. The dev's have said that there will be no grinding to reach the level cap (80) and you will always have a quest to get you there, on top of the fact that soloing all the way to level 80, if you choose to do so, shouldn't be difficult at all.

Perfect World gets to be a complete grindfest after level 35 or so.

I am VERY excited about AoC and I'll definitely get it when it comes out. But I need something to do in the meantime. Also, will AoC work with DirectX9? My graphics cards (I'm using SLI) support DX10 but I don't have Windows Vista and I don't want to get it (not only is it really expensive but it also sucks).

Yes it will work with your DX9 setup, you don't need DX10, but it's there if you choose to use it.

I'm not quite sure I'm glad to hear this about AOC.... I was sort of hoping for a greater challenge in AOC than WOW.... or they'd better have a terrific end game planned....

And I find quest based games, while great for solo play, don't do a lot to foster the community..... (at least in WOW/LoTRO they seemed to hinder it quite a bit)

Sorry, that must have come out a bit wrong, it will be just as easy to solo as it is to group all the way to level 80, I don't know the actual difficulty of leveling to 80.

yeah, there really isnt such a thing as a waste of time.

They shouldn't be paying $1 an hour if they are gonna play 12 hours or something, that seems like a waste.  If they played that long every day for 3 months, they'd have enough to buy a good gaming PC.

It is funny though, they say his family goes to visit him in the gaming cafe (like he lives there).

I'd say those people are getting a deal, they don't have to pay for a PC, monitor, speakers, mice, keyboard, high speed internet, electricity, etc, 1$ an hour isn't bad at all.

Well having played both I'm going to predict that hellgate buries TR :(

Unfortunately both games are similar but HG does most everything better except maybe providing a real live world at war feel.  I still give TR high marks for their environment and npcs interaction.

But for Fun - HG wins

Strategy variations - HG wins

Flexibility group vs solo - HG wins

Item collection and upgrade fun - HG wins

Character development - HG wins

Monthly cost - HG wins

So I don't know TR wins with world environment and maybe for being more MMORPG like...

But I think both games are very similar in terms of who they appeal too.  Sci-Fi, MMORPG, FPS lite, action, casual play.  HG might even appeal to harder core players...

I was enjoying TR but having seen HG I've decided to cancel my preorder and I was enjoying TR but I think HG is better and I don't need two games both launching at the same time.

What's the monthly fee for both of them? I can't find it anywhere.

Tabula Rasa, Age of Conan, Warhammer try them all.

Tabula Rasa is a joke.

Somebody had to tell him.

This post is mearly venting my frustration at being in a beta 'waiting' list for 2 years then seeing people that registerd on the forums in september/october get beta invites.....  i guess i should not have made the post but tbh i'm getting a bit pissed off with it all.

You obviously didn't show what they wanted in a beta tester, get over it.

Miss. By a longshot.

In such awe of this game... single best looking MMO on the horizon... WAR is supposed to be a big deal but it's a cartoon piece of childsplay **** compared to this... as is every other MMO currently out.  Watched this vid and just.. wow I envy those in beta!  This game looks like it can bring some true adventure and a really immersive feel...

I can't agree with you more. AoC is going to be ridiculously awesome. And yes, WAR is crap compared to, well, pretty much everything, especially this. I just pray they don't push back the release date again.

Im 42 yrs young and would like to try one of these, but im not into fantasy or fps's really soo.. im not sure what im looking for, something like undercover spy stuff, or ?? more of a modern setting

i could do some sci-fi if its like "real" sci-fi and not to wierd with aliens and stuff.

anything like that?

thanks

bs

Check out Tabula Rasa, it's coming out pretty soon and seems kind of like something you might be interested in. Maybe Anarchy Online, but that's a little old. Maybe even the Matrix Online.

I'm personally looking forward to Age of Conan, it doesn't really have anything to do with sci-fi. I don't know of any undercover spy type MMORPG's really.

I would recommend looking into Tabula Rasa or Age of Conan(even though it's not your type).

I bought the game a while back, my free month is up and I never really gave the game a try. How is the end game aspect of the game? Is there any PvP in it yet? Etc.?

There isn't much endgame. Overall it's pretty cool if you find a cool guild to run with, but without one it would be dull. There is a type of PvP called PvMP(player versus monster player) but it seems like Turbine is having a bit of trouble balancing this and making it fun for both sides, on top of the constant zerg from either side. There is currently one moderatly hard raid, but once you know what to do it's pretty much cake provided you have the right people. At the end of this month another patch will be released including a new 12 man raid, and player housing, which I have tried on Roheryn(the public test server) and it is all pretty good stuff. There's little to no diversity in builds because each class is only good at one thing, no matter what stats you build up or gear you have. A Minstrel will always be a healer, a Guardian will always be a tank, a Lore-Master will always be crowd control, along with the fact that there seems to be only one good set of gear per class at this point.

It's overall a really fun game. There's alot of diversity in weapons, and build styles which is nice. Instances are pretty dull it seems until the last boss which is exciting and the loot is pretty good. The quests are repetitive "go kill x amount of y," but that doesn't make this game bad by far. The map is fairly large. There's alot of different mounts which is also cool. Open world PvP starts at level 30, and you can just go PK someone out of a safe zone (towns, etc). The English translation at this point in time isn't great, but Cubizone does have English speaking people (people that speak English as their first language)editing out the rough translation. It is pretty bug free, and is overall worth the download by far, this game will keep you occupied for awhile.
