I have yet to steal 1 isk from a corp. So far i have always played in a tight knit group of people. Egos get hurt, people talk crap back and forth, take bpo's ships items etc..no matter under what conditions i have left any corp I never take stuff. Word of advice, do that enough times, and people will put out a word of mouth against you. Pirate corp or not you would be surprised how many smart CEO's will check your employment history and convo the last corp's ceo to ask why and under what conditions you left. Pretty soon you'll be staring at a corp channel of 2000k+ players since you will belong to an NPC corp and no one will take you. But hey thats just my two cents.

Congrats on a first ransom. Although in game I do not approve of pirating, on occasion it is a welcome distraction for our corp when the lull in the front lines (Im in GBC...pew pewing in Delve atm vs the goonies) starts eating away at me.

I been playing the trial and Werner is dead all the time and Gemini is untill peak US time where there are some good sized battles going on. However the problem with the game is that there will only be one medium sized battle going on and then a smaller battle in a cavern or something. There arn't any HUGE battles like the old days and half the time Planetside is empty. If you plan to play the game during peak hours only, then it is worth it but just a shame the game doesn't have the giant battles of what it used to.

The graphics havn't aged well and the game hasn't really changed much apart from the stupid BFRs are still there and the game seems to be really unbalanced, more so that it used to be. There arn't many patches and I saw a gap from like August to december at one time between patches.......

I'm having abit of fun during peak times because of Nostalgia and the fact theres nothing else like Planetside. New people or people who arn't fond of the game just can't justify paying a monthly sub for a game that is dated and isn't that great because SOE have failed to make the fixed the game needs.

What Planetside really needs is to be made Free 2 Play and for SOE to put microtransactions in the game to support it like buying things to make your XP go up or buying BFR access without having to do the Cavern thing etc etc.

It's just a shame the game doesn't look like this anymore....

LOL omg...amerish, i remember the NC zerg on that bad boy when i played as VS,  the non stop globals DEFEND THE HOMELAND! sigh....i miss those days and the icons on the map actually ment something like holy crap..its gonna rain or..crap its a sandstorm.

I had originally played Eve for a short time (about 1 and a half months.), and I left due to money restraints.

But now, I am making enough money, and I have tried a lot of F2P MMO's and none of them have captured me at all. I'm still trying to get Perfect World off my computer.

Anyway, I remember Eve, and I remember how fun it was, so can anyone tell me if this game is worth coming back to?

no, it's really hard and stuff.

What he is really trying to say that eve isn't "Hello Kitty" online. Fun factor....oh yeah its there. It took me almost a year to get into a good groove with eve, sadly some peeps burn out early before they appreciate the depth of the game. Like everyone has been saying its the interactions with other players that really make or break the game for most people. Ive been in an excellent corp for over 6months now, i dont have to go out on pew pew and or missions every day to enjoy the game, its the people that make it fun....

Meh..depends since the server merge in may its not been to bad i just resubbed last week and have been playing PS on and off since 2003.

For the most part it seems like cyssor and ceryshen get the most pew pew on a daily basis, but dont expect anything epic like it used to be a few years back with huge 3 way fights and actually coordinated infantry, air and MAX assaults. Sadly unless you run around in a good tight knit outfit this game gets boring fast if you try to go the solo route. My old outfit Prox-12 stopped playing it when i re-subbed so Im trying to find a good outfit to run with myself.

Worst case scenario that gives us (GBC) the chance to pew pew in delve. Still gotta give it to the goons for sticking to their guns they are still actively camping and making travel difficult in Delve. But i highly doubt NC will be able to establish themselves in the delve region. If Goonswarm started fielding experienced pilots and T2 fitted ships and HAC's they would do a lot more damage. Alas they are still sticking to their zerg tactics.

Well crap....ive been emoraging in eve about being anti-pirate now this just might tide me over and make me go over-board...this is indeed a pirates wet dream...

Can we please get back on topic?

I don't think CCP will do a rollback besides its announced ingame news. Plus, many internet websites have caught onto the news and reported it as well.

BoB just got ganked; something they had coming to them for a long time now

The only way this get's rolled back is if the account used to disassemble BoB turns out to have been hacked. Last I heard, BoB was under the impression the owner of that account was away on military training. Has anyone heard the end of that part of the story?

Well that fellow "haagorth" was in local in F-T yesterday and was acting like the rest of the goons in Local chat, so the short anwser is no. Looks like he was either a well emplaced mole in BoB or a disgruntled director. So far BoB has not added anything to the possibility that the account was hacked and it looks more and more likely each day that the 1st two mentioned scenarios is what happened.

what an epic situation, I am looking forward to the fallout from this, a shake up at the top is always good, but goonswarm said this was there goal... mission complete, whats next???

As for the whole 'eve online is a gank fest' I disagree, I have never been 'ganked' I been blown up sure, but thats eve, let me provide some tips for you, seeing as you are getting eve very very wrong...

1) EvE is a game that requires you to think... yeah you know use your brain, if you just sit in high sec mining or running lvl4 missions afk, then no wonder you are bored, this isnt even half of the game, its not always about the best isk per hour, its a game, have fun, screw the wallet..

2) Ganking, it does happen, but for a reason your either flying a valauble ship and someone does it fro lulz, or to get the loot and salvage, but golden rule of EVE is, if you undock, be prepared to lose the ship, infact I accept that when I undock I take that risk, but as I said I have never been 'ganked'

3) 'the never catch up' thing, well its untrue to an extent, yes you will be behind on skill points, but thats not always important, even a vet can only use a percentage of those point at anyone time, and even then 'bigger isnt always better' example, I had a fast cruiser, about 5-6mil SP and took out a well fitted BATTLESHIP owned by a player who had played the game atleast a year and I had only done a few months, and that was solo...

4) everything is better in groups, thats life, in and out of game, if you wanted to do something, and had friends who would help, you'd get them to help, you would always try and do things to make the odds in you favour...

As for the gate camp thing, if you bother to even just go to the forums and get a map, you could find an alternate route, and it IS possible to break through some camps, again you have to use your brain and go do some research...

I think though EVE is not for you, judging on the amount of, or lack of intelligence I have seen from you, and tbh I am not the smartess guy yet I can play eve the right way... whats your excuse?

You sir have nailed in on the head. To add in a little more, EvE is for more of a how should i say "mature" audience. It is one of the very few games where if you loose a ship or an item you feel the impact especially after having to work long and hard to get the isk, items, loot standings and etc...

Anyhow back to the topic of BoB and delve, yesterday proved to be quite exciting, lots of targets for us in GBC to pew pew in Delve, as usuall goonies resorted to the local emo rage smack..life is good...

I sense much emorage and darkside in you.

Were ignoring the big white elephant in the room..which is CCP has left the alliance management borked.

Cheating back stabbing scheming BPO copying t20 incident happening aside, thats what this boils down to.

Just like the fallout from that incident we now have representatives from the gamer base so im pretty sure CCP will address this sometime as well.

This is probably a dumb quetion but I haven't been playing EVE that long so here goes.

I assume that the former BOB players are all currently engaged in attempting to escape their former holdings or forming a defense of them. If these guys have been in 0.0 for years... would they have up-to-date clones in safe Empire space? In other words... if they lose whatever clone resources they had in 0.0 space are they in danger of losing skillpoints when they die?

Delve has plenty of NPC stations which are not conquerable therefore cannot be taken over which contain clone vats. BoB has many many alt's in empire and 0.0 space.  BoB will most likely ask for GBC (us) support for defense and will attempt to consolidate their assets, but they will fight, they have waaaaaay to much to loose by simply packing up and leaving, besides its gonna be f-ing nuts in Delve once everyone and their mother comes in to carve out a piece of the ex-bob territory pie.

Me thinks they just might change the way things work for the next expansion in regards to Alliance management.

It's Ironic how the goons have now become the Alliance that they had so despised with the take over.

As for me in GBC....to summarize best how i feel about delve invasion is "its a big S**t sandwhich and were all gonna have to take a bite"

Im still curious to know BoB's side of the story.

Dear sir my standards are set by the following which can be found here ------> Women of healthy breeding age, Fine wine, snacking on endangered owl's and hearing goonie's go trolling on eve forums.. that is all.

To sum it up from CAOD

It takes 24 hours to quit a corp....1 second to disband an alliance...?????

I've read the whole situation and it seems like dodgey game mechanics to me that this has shown everyone that the whole Alliance system needs a revamp because no way should one guy be able to shut down a whole Alliance. In real life you have investors who all have a say and this is what Alliances are like.

Seems to me like exploiting bad gameplay mechanics and BoB has been unfairly been taken out of the game because of some prick who has nothing better to do than be a dickhead.

Kinda just shows me that the EVE community is one of the worst out there.

ok.

why is it ok for all the other times things like this happened?

exploiting game mechanics?  someone did something that is ALLOWED... versus bob doing things like blobbing out systems in order to win, BEFORE there was a goonswarm?

the story told involves no exploit and bob very much got what they deserved -- karma isn't nice.

I agree with you to an extent, but at the same time this has pointed out a big flaw in the Alliance management aspect of the game. I can undertstand somewhat if this were to happen at a corp level, but for an alliance thats pretty damn crazy. No checks in balances in place, im all for corporate espionage and the whole 9 yards but getting the rug pulled out from under your feet like that is kinda puts a dampner on things

As for blobing, ive done it, ive seen it done, ive been blobbled. Is it annoying? yes, is it effective? yes. Is there ever a fair 1v1 fight in eve?...Hardly. Overwhelming force is what is needed, but thats a whole other thread and topic up for game.

I'm at work so can't listen to an mp3 posted, if it was even discussed there, so does anyone know what the argument between BoB directors was?

No one in GBC has yet really stepped forward and gave an explanation, so far its all hearsay from the forums and whatever goons have posted which needs to be taken with a large dose of salt.  I do hope a BoB rep gives some sort of rundown of wtf happened. With all the hearsay this has turned into a MMO version of a media circus.

To give my personall persepctive as part of GBC, BoB has on occassion made themselves look like asshats, recently there were even threats of BoB kicking GBC members if they did not participate on enough ops (more childish then anything if you ask me, still sent a wrong tone to us since we are their allies), let alone their interaction with their allies has been strained on occassion.  Just gonna have to do the wait and see approach.

I agree with the corp espionage and everything else what puts the brakes on for me is the fact An alliance can be disbanded that fast, there is not a checks and balance issue to the fact where corps need to have a vote with a majority aggreeing to the split, in addition to the fact that yes BoB is at fault for not vetting/auditing their directors and entrusting Roles like that to peeps. I guarantee you that every big alliance in game and leadership have now realized just how vulnerable they are to this sort of thing. CCP will not hear the end of this for a while...All this emo rage is crazy.

As a member of one of the GBC Alliances (cant tell ya which one...we wouldnt want a **** storm on me now)I will break it down for you peeps.

Basically a director from Black Nova Corp and Tin Foil Haargoth Agamar (the executor corp) who has not been on in ages but when came back still had all director roles for forum and alliance got into an argument with one of the other BoB leaders/directors (this is all speculation at this point gotta wait and see what BoB reps post on CAOD), heated words went back and forth. Not in the best state of mind he started talking to the goonies. THey of course asked for proof that he was a director so he gave them his login and pswd for BoBs forums which proved he was a director and more importantly allowed the Goons to autoarchive the forums and post them on eve forums (specifically on CAOD). Going a step further he decided an excellent backstab would involve stripping all directors of their roles and kicking corps from Alliance, and also looting the corp hangers of BoB's capitol fleets and supplies (extent of which we shall yet to see of just how much they ended up with) Goons epeen begins to get hard and they realize they not only neutralized BoB but can now head into Delve and start grabbin their assets along with every kid on the block and their mom who wants a piece of BoB's territory in Delve.

What does this mean for you.. Well for the next week or so expect lots of pew pew pew in Delve. I Dont think BoB and GBC will "pack up" and leave. For one GBC is well entrenched in Delve, BoB may not exist as an Alliance per say but their pilots are still around, and I am pretty sure they would like to stay around and send a few of the invaders back to the clone vats.

On one hand as low as what Goons did it just shows how crazy this game can be and yes...indeed this is omfgwtfbbqsauce moment but it makes things a lot more interesting and throws a nice spin to everything. On another hand i feel bad for BoB it took years for them to get where they are, I personally never hated them and never liked them at the same time..I just flew with them as part of GBC (Greater BoB Coalition or as pets...mmm we love that name)

Im sure Goons are having an orgy right now in Delve, for the time being at least. Next comes the part of trying to establish their Sov in Delve and logistics..Lemme tell ya it wont be pretty, took BoB a while to entrench there, with Goons I doubt they will hold it out there long enough to stay. I for one see this as an opprotunity for pew pew.

But thats just my two cents. Who knows maybe Goonies will keep steam rolling on through or BoB will come back. Either way, this is one of the biggest events in Eve ever.

Frankly, a new continent with more dungeons, only 1 new BG, 1 new Profession, and 1 Hero Class, in this WotLK expansion... seems to be only half of the content potential that was released in Burning Crusade. Burning Crusade had 2 new regions (Draenei/Blood Elf), 2 new races (already mentioned), new continent (Outland), 1 new BG, 1 new profession, and your standard extra raids.

If you compare WotLK and BC, your content for WotLK is gimped compared to BC. And I'm sure people enjoy getting ripped by Blizzard's wizening idea of how to effectively milk people for their money. I think CCP does a more effective job at deserving peoples' money without paying for expansion packs like Blizzard does.

I mean, look at Starcraft 2. Their reason for splitting it into 3 games was supposedly for "more content". I smell bullcr*p. Sure they can do it, but what is stopping them from packing it into 1 game? Instead of paying for 3 of them!

---

I posted this from another thread, but the point is relevant to this one.

What does CCP do to deserve money. Please list examples, so this can properly be debated.

What proof do you have to offer that supports your position that Blizzard is lying about their reasons for creating two seperate Starcraft 2 games? If a game is actually as large as two games, why not create two seperate games? The only crap I smell is that of your empty accusations.

Sorry i had to reply to the last sentence and paragraph.

A. Eve Online has never charged for an expansion..period, I have yet to see a game that cranks out expansions and new content at such a consistent level while keeping them free.

B. Knowing full well what a cash cow Starcaft initially was, Blizzard knew they could milk it till the cows come home (literally) After initially announcing it as a single game which now gets broken down into 3. Its way besides blatently obvious they did that for profit reasons...I mean c'mon...seriously...the only thing that would beat SC2 is Jesus's 2nd coming..but he will be busy waiting for the other 2 expansions...sigh.

CCP doesn't charge for every expac because the demand is not there.  When there is so little demand for content that you have to GIVE it all away, its pretty obvious the game isn't anything special.

People will pay for quality.  I'd rather pay for 3 seperate Blizzard campaigns in SC2 than 30 full games from CCP at the same price.  If Blizzard doesn't deliver the goods, I won't pay for them.  Simple as that.

And how exactly is that you quantified "demand" for an expansion? The devs for eve are pretty good at listening to player feedback and things that they would like to see in game (besides the obvious patches to fix in game bugs) This ranges from T2 equipment, factional warfare, speed rebalancing. The devs dont just go "here ya go.we think you the player base will need this and want it"..Far from it. Ive been playing Eve for over 4 years now, and the demand is constant from the player base for newer and better things.

I agree with you partially on the fact that perhaps splitting the game into 3 campaigns will make for a more detailed product but at the same time its very obvious its a marketing ploy to keep people coming back and buy more instead of getting one game, after initially stating it would be one game and not three.
