This game is very very cool. They just beefed up the mobs too. As far as PvP, I like the idea of controlled arenas and CLan wars.

Those Arenas in City of Heroes sure worked out well.

Heck they worked out so well that they are, always, utterly empty of players !

And the PvP zones are almost completely empty too.

If Tabula Rasa didn't have a back story that precludes human vs human pvp on a large scale it might be fun.

To me, it's utterly immersion breaking imaging smacktards running zone to zone trying to find other smacktards wanting PvP duels, especially since the zones will be instanced.

I can also imagine those same smacktards duel invite spamming because they are bored and cannot find anyone to duel with, so I have to either add them to my limited ignore list or put up with their duel request popping up over and over.

I will venture that griefplay will be a factor in this game as soon as the paid player base starts getting bored.

What was the 7/24 patch exactly and what was the major change? If anyone has a link to the patch notes it would be greatly appreciated.

Major changes to the way XP and kill credit on named mobs was earned.  In a nutshell:  Prior to the 7/24 patch, it was us against the Bane--When you exited the safety of a base and wandered into the middle of a fire fight it felt like I was auto-grouped with all the players and NPC (good guys) around me as we battled together against the Bane.  You earned full XP for every mob you hit so you didn't have to worry about focusing all your attacks on single mobs to guarantee you did the most damage to get XP.

After the 7/24 patch it became us against each other as kill steeling and named mob camping became a cold hard reality.  The Bane stopped being my enemy since I was now in competition with my fellow players for XP and kill credit.

Players started spreading out to hunt mobs on their own.  The camaraderie with my fellow players that I felt prior to the 7/24 patch was gone and TR just became another grind.

Interesting. I can definatelly see how that would kill comradery.

It really did, it changed the game dynamic from lightweight fun to worrying about if you were kill stealing .

The mob situation with the named and quest mobs was pretty ridiculous, I tried to get those overseers about 20 times until I just leveled past the quest and was able to come back and out damage the other people squatting on the spawns.

I think we all know having to OD to get quest mobs and spawns is a great way to make friends and influence people...

There wasn't a huge group dynamic to begin with, but the changes in XP as of 7/24 made it so that players were actively avoiding each other so they could keep full XP on all kills.

The end result is that the game is much more of a single player type environment with little or no reason for pick up type group play.

I felt like I was playing Unreal "The Awakening" with the big difference being that I had to take careful aim in that game and in TR it was just tab target hold down mouse button.

I'm glad some folks like it, I wanted to like it a lot and I'm pretty angry that NCsoft has allowed Richard Garriott to take them for a great big ride only to end up with a game that really feels like Auto Assault on foot.

Just my opinion.

Too many uneducated people raging on a game far before the beta is even complete. Last patch says everything, the game has completely changed over night.

As far as promises prior to beta... The only thing they are promising is an army surplus (Auction house). Other then that, it's just balance changes and bug fixes.

Button smashing NO... If you play past lvl 15 then you will encounter many enemy's that require you to switch weapons, drop bombs, throw nades or use logos.

Play past lvl 20 if you are going to post about this game please.....................

Played to 24, bored to tears, uninstalled.

Didn't require any strategy, just hold down the mouse button.

I used a couple shotguns and a couple rocket launchers to mitigate damage types.

Only bothered with a couple logos, rage was really all that was needed.

Rerolled a few times, even more boring than the soldier class.

If one desperately needs an excuse to play an online video game then I guess Tabula Rasa fills that need but to me it just feels like an Unreal Tournament mod for kids that cannot aim.

mileage varies

I'm certainly not a fanboi, never will be, and do not believe this POS to be worth 45 bucks for the box and then 15 buck a month afterwards

you think it does

at the end of november I'll be 60 bucks better of than either of you, satisfied in the knowledge that I haven't wasted my money or my time

you'll still be waitingfor the Miracle Patch(tm)

This review is so on the money...it is pitiful...

Sorry TR....should have went straight to console, and been a single player Sci-Fi RPG!!!

I think Richard Garriott will need an inflatable doughnut to sit on after he watches that vid.

Right on the money and nicely done.

Yes he was the father with UO, however, everything he has worked on since then hasnt been revolutionary and to me hasnt been very successful.

Lineage and Lineage2 are successful in asia not here.

COH/COV while maybe profitable is not in my opinion a success

LOL, that list is wrong.

He had absolutely nothing to do with Lineage and only a tiny bit to do with one of the chronicle updates in Lineage II North America.

Those games were both developed in Korea.

And he had very little to do with CoH/CoV.

If any of those games were his to claim then his name would be all over them.

His only real claim to fame is Ultima and that candle burnt out a while ago.

but it is still beta and they do need to work out those lag issues!

The beta closes in 10 days.

What are they going to fix in 10 days that they haven't been able to fix in all the months it has been in beta ?

Answer: not much.

I'm guessing he's hoping Richard Garriott will sweep him off his feet and marry him if he says a bunch of idiotically positive stuff about the crappy game.

Call the little lady a Waaaahhhhmbulance.

Too bad if you don't like it.

Crapula Crasha sucks no matter how much you cry.

Hmmmm...I just stopped in to get some buzz about the game after noticing the open beta, but dude you are kind of a turd.  If you are seriously 40+ you should re-evaluate.

LOL, fanboy takes the cheap shot because he's got nothing better.

You worry about your little failure of a life, I'll worry about mine. :)

And the buzz about the game is that it is crap with three or four rabid fans clinging to it as it descends into the toilet.

Your post makes no sense.  But I will retort with.....you are living in Oklahoma.  Which, by all accounts, means you are a failure and by proxy automatically lose any bitch-fights your start on the internets.

You automatically lose, and not by proxy.

"Alphaville" is a fictional place.

No, I do not live in Oklahoma... :D :D

But hey, there's some rice-a-roni for you backstage, thanks for playing !!!

Can anyone who beta tested the game comment on any or all of the following:

(1) How solo-able is this game (including instances, quests, etc.)?

(2) How strong is the mechanism for finding groups?

(3) How good is the story?

I'm really curious about this title and comments like "this game sucks" or "it's boring" aren't all that helpful.

Basically, my MMO experience is pretty limited, but I have enjoyed WoW and Guild Wars very much and CoH. How does TR stack up against those games?

Thanks very much.

(Never could get into TR's beta, though I wanted to.)

Do yourself a favor buy a good single player game.

If you are good at video games, at all, you will get bored with Crapula Crasha in about a week and it has about ZERO replayability.

Group mechanisms in the game are almost nonexistent.

It's so weak that in an interview they said that teleporters and a chat system were some of the main features of the game that made it fun.

What interview was that btw?

The quote comes from one of the interviews with "Cuppa Jo", go look it up yourself there aren't that many articles about the game.

Heaven forbid we make up our own minds nowadays.

I highly encourage people to try the game so that more can realize what a piece of garbage it is before they waste any money on it.

The overwhelming opinion in the majority of gamer forums is that Crapula Crasha is not worth anything more than a quick $5.00 playthough with the preorder.

I hope all 150 subscribers have a wonderful time before the game is flushed like Auto Assault.

I got to level 25 in just a few hours of play and it was exactly the same at level 25 as it was at level 10.

Kill the same mobs at level 25 as level 5.

Collect the same crap in quests.

Boring half finished single player game with no substance and no reason to build a community.

After reading some of the reports on here I thought this game was going to be horrible. But im not want to turn down a chance to see for myself. After playing for a couple of days now I dont see where all the complaints are coming from. The game does seem kind of easy but Im not sure if im out of the newb area yet. The cloning thing is cool. For those that dont know you can creat a copy of your current character and put it in your character select screen. This character is renamed and redesigned even. The only thing that stays the same as far as I can tell is your level at that point.  I need to play a little more to see if all the complaints are warranted in my oppinion, but it seems decent so far.

That's the thing about the game, it's alright for first ten hours or so.  Much after that and you'll have trouble finding the motivation to launch the client, let alone actually play.

That's the exact truth.

Kinda fun for the first few hours but I couldn't find enough in the game to make me actually want to log in after that.

I encourage people to save their money because the game is just not worth paying for.

It will be in the bargain bin not too long after launch.

It's not NcSoft that wants this game released in October, it's Lord British himself. He needs money for his space ticket. NcSoft will have invested nearly $100M and nearly eight years in the Garriott brothers and this game. I don't think you can call that stingy and impatient--but likely the NcSoft was foolish and will take a disastrous hit while RG is joyriding in low earth orbit.

Where do you get the $100Million figure from? If they actually HAD spent that much it would show it, and not be the gilded turd that's about to get flushed down the pan

I would link you to the article in the Korean times, but they have taken down the link because it is badly embarrassing NCsoft that they spent such an unbelievable amount of money on such a smelly piece of poo.

You can still find the 404 link to the article here:

http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/biz/2007/09/123_10317.html

It was stated in the article that "NCsoft had spent Hundreds of Billions of won over the last 6 years and were desperate for the game to be a big success"

100 billion Korean won = over 100 million US dollars.

The game is a piece of crap moneypit that Richard Garriott has used to ripoff NCsoft Korea.

NCsoft will be swallowed by SoE in less than 2 years, Crapula Crasha is going to ruin them.

Don't waste your time it's 3gb download just to play a half finished game.

By level 15, which you can do easily in one night if you are a decent gamer, the game totally craps out and all you do is wash rinse repeat killing the same mobs over and over and over and there isn't even an end game.

It's a piece of poo.

 [Mod Edit]

Place holder text all over the game and there is 10 days until they shut down the beta.

It's a pitiful unfinished single player shoot em up that looks like it was put together by some amateurs and it sure as hell is not worth a subscription.

Too many good games coming out to waste any money on Crapula Crasha.

In light of the amazing amount of quality games coming out in the next couple months Crapula Crasha is not worth wasting any money on.

It's like a cheesy single player game you buy in the bargain bin because the box looked cool and you only had $4.99 in your pocket.
Then you get it home and discover why it was in the bargain bin.

My eyes popped out of my head when I read that Richard Garriott had milked NCsoft  for over 100 million dollars to make it.

The article has been taken offline because it's embarrassing the Koreans that they got ripped off so badly.
