That and the exploiting of the Rank system so one side is making an army of seige engines as soon as the battle starts.

The fact that Mortal Online is more FAIL than Darkfail shows what a sad state the MMORPG genre currently is in.

Aren't we still waiting for the original game to launch? LOL

DRAGON AGE IS NOT AN MMORPG.

www.mmorpg.com is becomming less and less about mmorpg's and more and more about advertising for any video game with a sword and a dragon in their theme. It underscores a poor journalistic/editorial focus IMHO. MMORPG used to be specialists on MMORPG's and used to be the go-to place for MMORPG info. Now they are starting to muddy the waters and in turn muddy their own specialization...

Thats not to say that Dragon Age is a bad game because it isn't. After all it was given great reviews at a real multiplatform site www.gametrailers.com who specialize in cross platform gaming.

And yes I do realize that one of the reason for interest in Dragon Age by www.mmorpg.com is because Dragon Age uses what some call traditional MMORPG combat mechanics. Fine and well... but so does Fable, Gothic, Witcher etc... what we are actually talking about here is RPG mechanics not mmorpg mechanics. The MMORPG industry learned ALL of their tricks from the standard RPG platform games (not as if its a big head to head face off or anything). Its just a historical trajectory. Games with an RPG element will inspire each other...golly go figure. Hardly news...and definitively not explicitly mmorpg news.

QFT

Great summary of the whole issue at hand.

Need to change the site from MMORPG.com to RANDOMRPG.com.

While I do like Rogue classes I am honestly not that impressed with the reveal of the Imperial Agent.

Pretty sad they lack the ability to transfer a character's items over. Then again the game is pretty sad overall.

As long as they are only peddling cosmetic items/changes/etc then who cares? It doesn't effect gameplay or "balance".

"All players starting in Empire / Chaos starting areas"

For real? This is dumb. Might as well do away with ever race in the game besides Empire and Chaos while they are at it.

Happy 10th Birthday to my first (and I still think most fun) MMORPG!

Now pull the plug and bring forth Asheron's Call 3.

Somehow I feel even less respect for you guys now. I guess you can never win on the internet.

My feelings as well.

FE does not deserve about a 6.9 rating no matter who is doing the review.

I think Mediocre sums FE quite good.

Turbine really needs to do a REAL sequel to Asheron's Call. AC2 was not worthy of the Asheron's Call name. I still feel it was just a tech demo for Turbine that helped them procure rights to DnD and LOTR.

I also think it is fair to call Champions Online a sequel to City of Heroes/Villians...because that is what it is. Same goes for WAR and DAOC.

I am surprised SW:TOR wasn't discussed because it really is a done-right-this-time sequel (prequel acutally) to SWG.

*sniffle*  Oh AC... you were my first and I'll never forget you.

Man I had some great times in Asheron's Call.  As I'm sure most of you can relate to no game ever feels quite the same as your first MMORPG.

AC1 was still the most fun I ever had in an MMORPG. Which is partly do to the fact it was my first one.

Open RVR game world. No safe zones. Able to level through PvE and/or PvP. A new interesting theme. I am tired of the same old fantasy setting.

Too be honest I really am still holding out for a well-done Deadlands or Weird West MMORPG. After the let downs AoC and WAR were I have not cared about a single new MMORPG coming out.

Champions Online? I played and liked it the first time around when it was called City of Heroes.

Aion? EQ with Asian graphics and flair? No, thanks.

Fallen Earth? Good premise but terrible implementation.

Mortal Online? I sadly think this is going to turn out to be the next Darkfall.

That was my thought as well. I wish it wasn't the case but all I saw was a WoW Warrior with a Lightsaber...which even that isn't all that special seeing you can make your sword glow red in WoW too.

It's not hard at all to side with Turbine on this one. I am pretty sure Atari is guilty as charged.

Just like the others are saying Blizzard will release it just prior or a week or so after SW:TOR is launched.

While AC2 was one of the biggest disappointments to me ever in gaming history, AC1 is still the most fun MMORPG I've played. And while DDO wasn't/isn't for me, LOTRO was/is a solid MMORPG and one I chose not to play only because it lacked "real" PvP.  I am glad to see Turbine is still doing well and working on new projects. Though please don't let it be a freakin' Harry Potter game.

MO is just going to be a more expensive Darkfail. A shame too.
