I think Danny's review is the most honest of the group. I am still having fun playing SWTOR despite it failing to live up to the hype.

(you guessed it. I'm an x DAOC player). How close are we to being SURE this game approaches DAOC faction conflict  with objectives(and rewards for taking those objectives)....in a huge  faction conflict area ?

Did a dev said it would be like that?

Or are you just pulling something here?  You loved DAOC so you PRESUME by asking how close it is to this AS IF they ever had any intent to make it like DAOC.  Show me proof they had such an intention.

I'm not going to do the research for you, its out there, but it has been stated by the devs that a portion of Ilium will have a base for each faction.  The opposing faction can take control of the area by destroying the opposing base.  They have this information on the official site.

Cheers!

I know about that.  SWTOR is not DAOC 2.  That is the point.

No one can tell you the exact details without breaking NDA, but SWToR will have open world pvp past the starter worlds. Ilum in particular has been designed from the ground up for open world pvp. Having different rulesets allows for much greater freedom in open world pvp design.

Yes I wish the NDA was lifted so the replies to this topic could actually be more accurate then the information that has be given so far.

This is disappointing news that the only PvP in TSW will be instanced battlegrounds. Shame there will be no RvR since there will be 3 factions. This is actually a big turn-off for me as I was really looking forward to TSW with it's modern horror setting, skill system, and 3 different factions.

They really shouldn't have allowed preorders with a shaky release date. If this wasn't Bioware, people would be raging and saying it's vaporware and a scam.

I feel the same way and it is the reason I have yet to pre-order. I don't want to pre-order a game that isn't going ot be out until 6 months from now...especially with GW2 and TSW on the horizion.

rofl ..... Tier 13! .....

That was my thought too. I can't believe they are up to Tier 13...

WoW just needs to be put to rest already...

One possible subtext for this announcement would be:

"We've given them a tiny nibble at the carrot. Now that they are frenzied with desire, it's time we moved the carrot further away again. We might also stimulate more pre-order sales this way, because some people might think that pre-ordering now will still give them a better chance in the now delayed beta-testing schedule.

Either way, suspending beta-testing at this stage will cause alot of forum discussion and game site news reports, so it keeps the hype going nicely."

This might not be too far from the truth. I received ANOTHER email yesterday around the same time as the beta delay announcement urging me to pre-order SWTOR if I hadn't already.

Voted Not in Favor...

One more absurd feature. Who cares anymore.

I agree. Huttball is almost as absurd as the 2-headed Pod Racing announcer that was in Episode 1. The announcer was more annoying to me than Jar Jar was.

I am glad to know there will be no same-sex relationships in SWTOR even though BioWare has included them in their previous RPGs...many of which I have played. They may have actually planned on including them in SWTOR initially but after advice/pressure/what-ever-you-want-to-call-it from LucasArts and/or Electronic Arts chose not to. With that said I don't think this is an issue about sexuality at all but strictly about money. While the LGBT community is a very vocal group they are also a very small minority population-wise. BioWare/EA/LA would face a much bigger controversy including same-sex relationships then by not including them. There are many more individuals who would not buy or not allow their children to play SWTOR knowing there were same-sex relationships in-game then there would be (will be) among those upset that SWTOR will not have same-sex relationships.

Like every other corporation these days the decision is/was motivated by money...and money alone.

Kinda stupid. Honorable Jedi in a huttball league fighting for sport? Sith lords reduced to a TV sport? Seems a bit of a immersion breaker to me.

Using your saber to score a goal in a TV game? Maybe if the game gave you a team uniform, and you used some sport weapon.

Seems like PVP is a joke to these guys. Disappointing

My thoughts too. Huttball is a "really, really terrible" ideal.

Wish I could be playtesting the game already.

I was looking forward to hearing more about RvR.

While the best overall produced movie in the series is easily The Empire Strikes Back, my favorite of the series is A New Hope.

Add it because there are plenty of other games on here that aren't MMORPGs so what's one more.

On a side note: I loved D1/D2 and logged way too many hours on Battle.net playing but I have no interest at all in D3.
Those of us who were in the testing phase of LEGO Universe said the game should have been F2P at launch because of a severe lack of areas and content.
Despite its flaws DCUO has a good combat system that would be fitting for SW.

I tried it out over the weekend as well for the first time. I have mixed feelings about the game and am on the fence about purchasing it or not. But I do feel Rift borrows much more from WAR than it does WoW.

The more I read about the game the more it seems like it will just be World of Warcraft in the Star Wars Universe.

(Oh and that is a big turn off to me.)

Asheron's Call 1 is the best MMORPG ever made.

I really enjoyed Diablo 2 when it was released. Up until WoW (and my on again-off again relationship with it) I had spent more time playing Diablo 2 then any other previous games.

Last year I enjoyed playing through Torchlight and found myself wishing it had mutliplayer. I am actually more looking forward to Torchlight 2 then I am Diablo 3. From what I have read and the few videos I have watched I have almost 0 interest in Diablo 3 right now.
