you know I'm not really a fan of Jagex, or runescape, but i hand it to them. This sounds like an amazing iddea and if they only fixed there combat i might actually play it. I would definitly hope more games adopt this style of play -- "player generated content" ftw! |

There are four classes The Medic, Assualt, recon, and robotics The medic can be either poison or healer The assualt can be either tank or AoE bomber The recon can be either sniper, melee, or bomber (CC) The robotics can be either use pets or turrets Thats basically how all the classes break down w/ some variety depending on playstyle of course Edit: It just recently went f2p I encourage you to check it if you are interested (be warned about community i recommend changing your chat options to ignore city chat....) I can even give you a code to get 50% of elite status if you would like |

DDO maybe? I heard (havn't played it personally) its has an interesting combat system and i have not heard complaints about grinding, and its f2p. If you wanted the shortest grind however and thats all you cared about...... DCUO would be it.... you max out in 3 days of Casual play. |

Have you considered UO? (Ultima Online) It's one of the oldest mmo's out there but If you can get past the graphics (I enjoy them personally) then with a group you guys could have a lot of fun. There are lots to do and many active guild doing events multiple times a week (on Atlantic at least) |

Most players who have played UO at one time before the 3d update or the enhanced client seem to prefer the classic client. If you have never played UO before though I recommend you start with the enhanced client and if you for whatever reason absolutly hate it then go classic.
Another reason that enhanced client may not work for you is the long extra dll time/space, and the ability of your comp to actually run the client smoothly. Anything other than that I say choose the enhanced.
p.s. I played UO for 3years and I prefered the Enhanced client myself over the classic. It just took some time to get used to it.

idk much about Aion, but I was looking for some pvp and i think I might sub to WAR as it may very well be the only PvP intense game aside from Darkfall (I cant play bec my gfx card) / DAoC |

Fury Online for me. It was the greatest PvP I have had since then and now I am as of this day looking for another mmo to match it's same kinda of awestrickingly-skill based PvP |

Random Map Generator in MMORPG's? Possible? Useful? Why arn't they Used?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/17/11 10:22:43 PM
Why has no mmorpg company of game designer (that I can think of) created a random map generator? Imagine going into a BG or Arena or even dungeons/World PvP Areas and knowing everytime that you go in there would be a different map. A different setup each time. No more "Crap I got the gay map and I cant do anything because I am being pillar humped" .... Or no more "...ugh... I hate BG's all its is, is alliance favored altervalley/[insertname of bg/Dungeon] that I have done over and over and over again and again." End Game content would create itself and aside from major raid encounters and some basics set in place (must have 3 towers / 2flags / Team-DM type game mode) it would in essence diversify itself. Even, to take it a step farthur, You could have entire open world pvp zones that would deterriorate over time and creat new maps for themselves as [insert outisde force] or npc's shift "tides of battles". You would log in one day and be fighting over a factory needed to bulster npc/player resource and then a week later be in the same "zone" yet now be defending against a keep that had been created after having had the resources [from the factory] to create it, then another week goes by your fighting on the rumble of the once great keep, and a new thing the next week so on and so forth. This doesn't necesarrily have to be for MMO's either..... Even fps/stratgy could implememnt them. Halo Reach maps that create themselves and sc2 maps that are used to spice up custom games. Idk, Just a thought I had. I am not saying it would be easy to create, in fact it may very well be impossible. I am not a developer/programmer nor do I know anything about being one but the capabilities of having one of these systems I think would help keep the "same ol' Content" new and exciting, while lessening the work load of developers to focus on other more import things. Anyone have any input or thoughts? Is it possible? would it really help? |
