I think i just threw up a little bit, if Blizzard's next MMO going to be more casual then WoW....................................... yea i threw up.

War 40k > SC anyways, hopefully THQ doesn't screw up with the 40k mmo, but they more then likely will. I like to see a Diablo MMORPG, with all out action combat, but that will never happen.

Is this any surprise??? I mean seriously, Bioware is working under EA and EA itself is a video game publisher.... 1 + 1 = 2 if ya know what I mean.

^ This

Yea, that certainly brings it back.. to when i played PSO on the Dreamcast. It was the very first online game i ever played, and while it was basic as dungeon crawlers could get. I still had load's of fun with it, up to Episode 1 and 2 for the gamecube.. which is still my favorite (except the double save bullshit ughh).

PSU was ok.. but i have to agree with club.. it was a kick in the ball's. Hopefully they can go back to the golden day's with PSO 2, its on my radar.... but I'm not going to get my hopes up though.

Funny thing is if SE was releasing FFXI day one right now... people would be saying the same damn thing right now. How flawed the combat, mechanics, and general fun of the game is. People in the western markets were spoiled with the release of FFXI, as that game was worthless as worthless when it came out in Japan.

People expect way to much now a day's, when not to long ago... most of everyone was lot more forgiving, and willing to give it time. It's sad, MMORPG's have grown to big for their own good. Media outlets that surround them, and the bigger spoiled brats the MMO consumer base has now... don't help matters at all. Cause if people think this supposed train wreck of bad MMO's is going to stop some day... they will be sadly dissapointed time and time again.

I played UO on luanch - it was FANTASTIC!

I played WoW on launch and aside from some server stability and lag issues - it was FANTASTIC!

I played some EQ2 whilst on a vacation from WoW at EQ2's launach and  it was.... um, you guessed it - FANTASTIC!

Those are exceptions - AOC, AION, WAR they had issues but seem to be returning better - becuase the devs listened to a a large degree and were invested in giving a good experience.

BUT - with the exception of AOC - they weren't bad to the same degree FFXIV is. FFXIV epitomizes lazy, cheap programming - I think that each zone - Sand, Forest, Snow and Plains ahve about 40 panels TOPS which are reused and reorganized. Granted they are pretty copy/paste  panels, but the whole game is so boring and repetitive.

3 things keep me playing FFXIV -

1. Player graphics and animations are great - including armor/weapons. They are... um FANTASTIC!

2. Mob graphics are badass - i took a risky trip to the extremes of some high level corners of the map, and there is a giant salamander looking thing that is so cool in it's glistening texture, that I will keep playing to be able to kill it one day (sorry pretty bad guy).

3. I REALLY DO hold out some hope that they will do something dynamic and players will hit a switch that allows for airships and chocobos, etc. That it is not lazy, shitty, cheap programming at work - but actually a reward system for servers to get access to special content.

 [Mod Edit]

____ epitomizes lazy, cheap programming.

A. Age of Conan

B. Warhammer Online

C. Aion

D. Champions Online

E. Star Trek Online

F. Vanguard

G. Everquest 2

H. SWG

I. World of Warcraft

J. Lord of the Rings (I could keep going on but im just going to stop here.)

K. All the Above

If you have selected all above, you won a stuffed PANDA!!!!

Some way to bigger degrees then otheres, each one of those games and many otheres... and it's dev's have shown great deals of lazy, cheap programming.

Some of those games only got better, because they were given time to get better...... hard concept to follow i know.

I think your dead wrong on this idea. I know a lot of folks who loved ffxi,  and FF10.  I still play ff10 with my oldest daughter as she loves that game.  She remarked to me how bad FF13 was and how it was not even holding a candle to FF10.  She says it seams they gotten away from the lore and the game and just turned out trash with FF13,  now they did the same with FF14.  Hoping that folks would be happy just to have a new FF name.

Name along does not guarantee your going to have a good game, and when you ignore you current player base you get what we have with FF13 and FF14 and that word is trash.

AWESOME, i know plenty of people who loved FF13, and hated FFX...... so????????????????????? Thanks for sharing that with me, and telling me how wrong i am like a drone.

Wait so people expecting a somewhat complete and decent launch from a AAA developer with unlimited resources who also already has one major MMO under their belts a bad thing?  Hell guess I am silly for going into a steakhouse and expecting them to serve steak is equally as silly.

Did you play FFXI??? It took them atleast 1 one year to get that game going in a solid direction. 2 years to really take it places, and have it hailed as one of everyones favorite MMO's. I don't care what the reason's are, and what SE is thinking. Given how they handled FFXI, FFXIV is looking like its being handled the same way. Was that a good thing now a day's.. no but im not about piss moan and bitch about... till i see SE actual takes the step of NOT making a effort.

Then laugh my ass off when the drones here, piss moan and bitch... because they forgot how it use to be like.

SE has run FFXI 8 damn years. If they didn't learn anything in all that time (and FFXIV proves they didn't), that's not our problem, it's theirs.

Nice try counselor, but your defense failed.

The first few years of FFXI was not pretty, it took them two years.. to really get the game as good as it got. How people expect everything should be handed to them right away with a fucking MMORPG is absurb. If  people don't have time to wait around anymore... they honestly should find a new goddamn hobby. Blame does go to SE, but honestly expecting everything should be a-ok and fine at launch is a load of bs..... and is our goddamn problem.

And saying we have no blame in any of this, is a wuss ass cop out.

I just find it a bit amusing, FFXI went through the same bs when it first came out in Japan. Game was actually worthless, with not much to do. Then after time it got a lot better, it came out to the western market with Rise of the Zilart and lot more polish. Which l kinda wish they pulled the same stunt with FFXIV. But that was then, and this is now... with a consumer base that's a lot less forgiving, and a lot more fucking spoiled.

I'm not taking SE's side at all, they knew damn well they shouldn't have released a 2nd MMO... in the state it was. Though i will give them the benefit of the doubt they will indeed get things back in order with FFXIV, just because how FFXI was handled. Now there is a chance they won't, but for me until i see they won't make the effort to advance.. then thats when I'll say this game is a sinking ship. However for now,  i still think SE will get things turned around with time.

Good points but when SE devoloped FFXIV there focus was to have game that has subscribers base around 2 million not another FFXI. Sure they can fix it and retain a niche subscriber base around 50-100k like FF XI but thats not their goal. For example, they already lowered their revenue projections for next quarter by 10% which goes to show they expect around 1 million+ player base in Q4,

Back in FFXI's prime they saw nomore then 500K. If it was indeed their goal for 2mill with FFXIV a game that doesn't hold your hand like its elder brother. Then SE just need to hang their head in shame for a very long time. Setting goal's that high in the MMO world now a day's is just as bad as punching yourself in the family jewels for the hell of it. Especially releasing the current state piece of worthlessness, known as FFXIV.

Oh god, back in my days with FFXI. I was part of a good guild, got to know them quite well. Then apparently one of the guy's wife in the guild decided to take a liking to me. Then talk to me about a bunch of random shit, then she went off about how her husband beats the crap out of her, and chokes her... just straight out treats her like crap. I said ummm maybe you should leave him???????!:????????????!??????????? EH????????!????????

She told me she couldn't because, he said he would kill himself (who cares???)... if she did. And she couldn't live with her self.. if he actually did.

I was like okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk you have fun with that... BYE!!!

lmao, oh my.. i don't get that, but that creeped me the f out.

I like titems too :D ............ oh wait, what was this about?

They totally screwed the pooch with TR. For me anyway's it never felt epic, it ended up feeling pretty much any other game out there... with a lot less to do. Was it so hard, or wrong... to actually put raid's in the game, that are not your typical raid bs. I thought it would been so fricken cool, if a truck ton of AFS vs truck ton of Banes....in a huge battle raid on a huge map... to battle for bases, resources (which could've helped in many ways.. ammo, stuff for a better crafting system, actually supply bases with materials could've needed made better or repaired, weapons, armor... or load of other shit they could've added), and strategic battle locations. Totally dynamic random.... PEW PEW WAR fest..... nope all we got is hardly ever seeing a another player, scripted short lived battles, and asshats... that were more busy making TR's chat channel look worse then WoW's trade chat, then actually play the game.

Game felt all to small and linear, crafting was craptastic, and the game offered no fricken content.... it's deserves what it got. I actually loved the idea of the game, had a decent time with it for a lil bit, but Richard Garriott proved... he's just a one trick pony that couldn't pull it off and TR was one of the biggest slap's in the face... in MMO history in my eyes, because it could've been epic.

Looks kind of bland, just a lot of pretty colors added and very generic.. it looks like a typical Asian F2P game imo. I thought this was supposed to be a payment model?

If this looks "generic " what the hell looks good to you????

The caster actually had to run right up to those mobs in their face to cast a lot of the spells. What's up with that? I saw a few where he got to 5m THEN casted but the mobs didn't notice him til then. Must be non-aggressive mobs although they didn't have the type of names (or looks) that would make you think that. Wonder what it would do vs aggressive mobs whacking on it while he was in their mugs like that...

I love it when people confuse how your actually supposed to play the game or what you can do to what they see an inexperienced player do while playing the game. Hell if thats the case all you can do in Street Fighter is low kick

What was the HP's on this caster class? He sure wasn't taking a lot of normal caster damage according to the chatbox while doing all these nukes. I thought that was very strange.

Normal caster damage? So every game is supposed to do the same damage.

So either these mobs are super low level and they are just showing off the "pretties" of what the spells LOOK like or they are artifically boosting up a caster's HPs. Is this a 'melee caster' or what?

Or its a demo , ors its in beta , or he was being healed .....

The way this character runs. I'm sorry but the movement on the toon kind of hurts my eyes with the bopping/running style. It looks like a F2P made graphic and not first quality. It's not motion capture or smooth in ANY way and makes the game look cheap.

I guess thats a opinion.. weak one but an opinion

If a game can't manage to make the character movements look fluid, how are they going to make the rest of the game appear so?

Characters look very fluid.. not to yourlikeing but very fluid for the character types and models

+1 for DocZ

I swear the vast majority of you are purely guilible idiots. And I'm leaving it at that.......... god fucking damnit i hate massively.

You have a better chance of seeing a pig fly, then get a apology from Hickman. As someone else said, it's time to get over it. He was simply doing something he loved, and was in it to make money. You think he was going to say "Well see thing is.. the game is nowhere near being done. It's a complete utter turd, that need's a couple more years in the oven. But we wasted all our money.., and need to release this piece of shit w/ half ass game mechanics soon as possible, so we don't piss off our overlords EA.  So if its a piece of shit MMORPG that you want, WE GOT IT!"

Man i wish they made some kind of Goblin Assassin. Come out of stealth jumping through the air... saying "DIE GIT FACE!!!" STAB STAB STAB STAB.

Hello, chums.

I've gotta tell you, being a WoW player I have to admit that the single most... Unintelligent class the less-than-capable players pick has to be Hunter.

Replace, hunter in that, and you can pretty get every single class in the game. My main is a Hunter, and I act respectfully, know my class, and don't act dumb. Have I meant some bad Hunters in the game? Yes, I have.. and gives the rest of us Hunters that are actually good human beings, and players.... a bad name. But I've also met plenty of bad Paladins, Druids, Priests, Warriors, Death Knights, Rogues, Mages, Warlocks, Shamans...... who all acted like douchebags. I've come across a lot of asshole Warriors more then anything, but I'm not gonna say..... Warriors are loldumblol. Because theres no dumb class, just dumb people.

Well, sure, but my point is the bulk of less than stellar players I've come across have been Hunters.

I just want to know which class you think generally garners the not so proficient players. Or classes. Whichever you prefer.

From any game, for that matter.

Any class in any goddamn mmorpg.

So you don't really have anything to bring into the discussion besides a general answer that doesn't really add to the conversation much?

Okay, cool, works for me.

I gave a general answer... to a pretty general question. It really doesn't matter what class it really is, if it looks intresting enough to someone. It will bring in all walk's of life... to the really good, to the decent, and to the right down terrible. Just because you had a bad time with Hunters. Doesn't mean everyone else is, and like i said I've met plenty more dumb people.. who want to play Warriors, and BROSTORM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it up.

You can't simply just point the finger, at one type of class, and say they bring in the biggest group of idiots.

When i played Warhammer for example, some of  the best players i knew where Squig Herders, or Shadow Warriors... that are the Hunter/Ranger classes. Some of the worst players I've come across that game, were Chosen/Knights, Witch Hunters/Witch Elfs, Choppas/Slayers. Same time I also knew plenty of good Chosen/Knights etc etc, and came across bad Squig's, and Shadow Warriors.
