I've gotten one, thanks all. |

Fine, the use of SecuRom is often banned, and is, generally, frowned upon. Is that better than "More or less illegal"? Stopping piratsy is all well and good, but using a program that often damages systems for little reason is not the way to do it. That is like destroying a food market just because someone shoplifted from there. The whole point of this was, with EA's bad history, along with their shady ethics and business practices, one may just worry about the state of the game. Also, it would be lovely if people could speak of their opinions and debate them with some level of basic decorum, not people endlessly tossing the words "Kid", or some such, trying to belittle people that hold a different view from your own. And, mostly, the elitists that toss around the word "Troll"...yes, because everyone that gains any negative view of anything most be a bloody troll, correct? This is my honest opinion, and I'd damn-well like a civil sharing of ideas of it...forgive me if I -honestly- believe that EA could pull off something under-handed. MMO or not, it is my opinion, I've shared it, and would just like feed-back from people along the lines of "Yes, I agree, because.." or "No, I disagree because.." Most people have remained polite with their opinions, and I thank them, but it is when people decide an opinion has earned a personal attack that I get so very twitchy. But, anyway....That has been very little of that, and even anything viewed as an "attacK" is on the very mild, at best, so that is good. It was lovely to read most of the opinions, here, and it has even given me a spark of hope for the game. |

Zanetanos, no worries...the George Bush comment was a joke, I was not really comparing the two. Just a bit of humor to lighten the mood. But, you're right, I suppose. Even EA would not do something major to damage the reputation of an MMO under their name. |
|
|
Yes, I do believe that, JMD, because EA is about as corrupt as they come...hell, they make George Bush seem like a saint. They -do- use SecuRom, and it has been proven. That is not the issue, the issue is whether their practices will ruin WAR, at all. |
|
|
Well, the only reason I even think of it as a problem is because EA has even been known to send such programs through their emails and even game patches, so a disc does not seem to be the major issue, and thus what is making me worry, since MMOs require so many patches, regardless. |

I am not, exactly, looking forward to WAR, but I've always liked Warhammer, mostly 40k, so I am hoping that WAR does do well, and happens to be a decent game. However, seeing that EA has a foot in the game worries me, greatly. I know that EA only bought the company, so it may not be utterly corrupted, but as they do, so often, they may still pump WAR full of SecuRom. For those that are not yet aware, SecuRom is a nasty security program that is meant to prevent pirating music, games, and such. That is fine, but the program works more like a virus, and often attacks a person's system for little reason. This program is, more or less, illegal to use, but EA still fills their programs with it. Hell, even emails from EA can have it. Now, although the recent threat of lawsuits may be toning the use of this program down, given EA's history, does anyone else worry about the future of WAR? |

A few questions before I try the game...
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 5/08/08 2:49:17 AM
I'd have to agree. It's really not a deep game, at all. In fact, when I played, the only class I could stand was the minstrel...and, really, all I did was spent all of my day growing and smoking pipe weed, and playing my lute/harp/flute/drum/et cetera, all of the rest of the time. The game is not too deep or difficult. Crafting takes no real skill. Farming was rather fun, and being able to play songs was a lovely feature, mainly when others would show up and join in...and -not- simply try to ruin my fun. But, other than that, I found it all rather boring. I say, check it out, though. It is free, after all. Nothing to lose. Good luck. |

Trust me, Soul. Role Players do it, all of the time. I lost count of the vampires, half-vampires, half-dragons, half-demons, et cetera, that I'd find on WoW...and seeing as the Lore does not even support the typical vampire, that, along, just makes me scowl. That, and very few can pull off a decent vampire, within RP. But, that aside...I still think an Underground-set MMO might be interesting. It would help fill out the genre. I mean, we're starting to see more space mmos, Fallen Earth, and such, for that "End of the World" feel, and we have the fantasy setting beaten to death. A change may be nice...as long as it lacks elves, of any kind. |
|

I could see good things with that, when I think about it. Say, the surface is too harsh to survive on. There are plenty of directions to take that, as well, which could add plenty of flavor, and light, as well. I was rather afraid this -was- about that movie series...I'd hate for an MMO about vampires, and the like. Hell, we've already enough people RPing vampire and werewolves in just about every MMO, anyway, heh. |

I do agree with Greek, other than foul language being "Anti-social", unless I misunderstood that part, though the way the young crowd uses it, it often can be such, I suppose, and hardly leads them to productive lines of actions...it is Disney's right to do this, and all, no matter how wrong it can be viewed as. I still dislike how Disney is being painted as some clean, moral source, though, as I've said, which is why I agree with Greek as much as I do. Really, this seems more about business than keeping things clean...unhappy parents leads to a loss in sales, after all. It still seems like something to frown upon, though. |

Why you won't being playing Warhammer?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 5/06/08 4:15:53 AM
I do not plan to play for many reasons, most of which have already been listed. I mean, an RP flag? Yes, that would go well...Maybe if it were based off of 40K, I'd try it. Mix some sci-fi with the fantasy. |

...Disney is not family-friendly. They simply wrap themselves in programing that seems geared more towards children. But a lot of their movies, shows, et cetera, have been very...non-child. I mean, PoTC, for one...many people took their children to the first movie, thinking "It's Disney, it will be fine." And then, the skeletons came about. Now, I'd think most could handle dead folks, but I've heard from more than a few people that the younger crowd was a bit taken aback by the scene. That, and it is not like Disney is teaching children any morals or anything. A lot of mindless fluff, that lacks a message or real content. Clean fluff is no better for a child than foul language and violence, and the like. Also, their movies have always had a subtext for an older crowd, something to pass just over the heads of the young, and get a chuckle from the old. So, really, a ban for private chat that passed unreported by either party is just...wrong. Use filters, and moniter reports, not -every- single word passed between two people. |

I play WoW. Actively, as well. I'll agree, it is a poor game when you compare it to, say...Pre-NGE SWG...as so many of us do. But I've never found a match...ever. Not within RP standards, or gameplay standards. I joined WoW in hopes of finding a replacement for the previously stated game.. And even though I did not, I still stay. Why? Even with all of the idiots, the spam that, suddenly, became an issue, all of the dying RP giving way to PvP and raiding, and all of that, I've still yet to play a game where it was as enjoyable. In WoW, I can spend every single questing moment alone, and still do well. I can only quest, never speak to another person, and still have fun. I can raid, if I so wish, if I'd like to stay up to gear standards. And, mostly, I still find active RP, something which I've looked for in Lotr, CoX, even EvE, and did not find nearly as easily..or, really, at all. I get to play and level, my way, I still can RP, fairly actively, and I can enjoy the Warcraft world, even if there is not much room for true..choice, as far as the gameplay and game world goes. So...I've settled, let's say. I've taken the Club-Footed Duck over the Beautiful Swan, of gaming, basically, because that Swan is long dead. I'll never have my Zabrak Swordmaster back, and I've accepted that. Really, when you think about, it is not that WoW is bad...it's just not what you really want to play. All we can do is -hope- the next great "SWG" comes out; That fabled sandbox...and pray Sony stays the hell away from it... |

What do u guys think about the new i11 update
Paragon City Hall (General) « City of Heroes 11/11/07 3:12:15 PM
Eh...just as long as we might have pistols as a set, at some point. I enjoy my melee types as much as anyone, but nothing can beat a fine Gunslinger. |

What do u guys think about the new i11 update
Paragon City Hall (General) « City of Heroes 11/11/07 12:37:35 PM
So...just the two new power sets that I've read about, or might they be adding more? Because I know that, myself, and a few others, have been hoping for a pistol powerset. As of now, the only other option would be playing Villains, and being /thug, and, really...not a huge minion fan. And we all know how people dislike minionless Masterminds. Correct me if I am wrong, though, because I've not played since July or so, and am not sure if things have changed, since then. |

I would pick CoX any day. In fact, I would rather sell my computer than ever play WoW, again. It's just become far too filled with people I'd rather keep away from, but that are more than able to begin to stalk me and try to steal my kills, or to beg for me to group with them, et cetera. In CoX, I've hardly ever had a random group invite, and, most importantly, there is no Goldshire. |

Well, then seems there is a mail issue. At least that is what support said. So, I may as well post, here. Kyvia666@netscape.net. And thank you. |
|

Are there any left that I may have? Poleshift still has not sent one, as they said. PM me if my e-mail is needed...though, I believe I may be having an issue, since my inbox did show a message, but when I checked it, suddenly it said "downloading message" or something along those lines, and then said I had no messages, so that was....odd. Either way, thank you, once again. |
|
|
Perhaps I may have one, as well? I was promised one, but never delivered. I've heard much has changed, and i wanted to check the game out. PM if anyone has one, so that I may send my e-mail, if need be. |

Does non-Jedi melee belong in a SW MMO?
SWG Veteran Refuge « Star Wars Galaxies 11/03/07 1:53:50 AM
A sword was an example, but I meant something hand-to-hand, in general. Knife, club, piano wire; I really do not care. If I have someone in my home, and I see a gun, I would prefer to use something that will involve me, quickly, going to them and causing them large amounts of pain, and disabling them as a threat. That's my opinion, so no "bubble" to burst. That's one, two is the fact that this thread is about Star Wars melee, so...focus on the Star Wars part of the conversation? |
