On the other half of the coin, if they're not letting some reviewers in for a good early preview then that should be telling. If only there was a recent precedent from Ubisoft to justify the skepticism we could agree in Unity that they should be more open.

Ubisoft did put themselves in this situation and regardless of the studio, Ubi's name is all over it and that is enough for people to be skeptical.

I doubt Ubi has much to be concerned about though, gamers are notoriously weak i then "wallet willpower" department and tend to to buy anything that moves.

There's nothing stopping reviewers from getting an early preview right now. There's an open beta running from today to the 27th. That's why Ubisoft is warning against the day one reviews, they're going to be based off of a whole three days worth of playing an open beta (or worse, the previous closed betas) where less than 10% of the content available.

I don't agree that having Ubisoft as a publisher is enough to be skeptical either. Ubisoft has allowed the game to be delayed multiple times now, for a total combined time of over a year. In that time they've held two PC closed betas, two console closed betas and are now having a console open beta. Personally I think that Ubi and Ivory are doing everything they can to make this game the best that it can be.

But, to be fair, I've been following this game since it's announcement and because of that I'm aware of these things. People who didn't care enough to follow the development are just going to see Ubisoft and, unfairly, assume the game is a rushed out piece of garbage.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with being skeptical. Even I'm skeptical about the content that we haven't seen. But, for those who are at least slightly interested in this game, they've had plenty of chances to see what this game is about. The devs have been pretty open about this game, responding on the forums, holding Q&A sessions and so on. Even the game's beta bugs and glitches have been widely and openly talked about.

It's just not fair to compare this game with AC: Unity or Watch Dogs. This isn't like Ubisoft's self developed single player titles, where we don't really know a thing about them until the day of release. We know tons about this game. Honestly, unless reviewers are really going to take the time to play through a good portion of the game before reviewing, there's not a whole lot of stuff they can tell us that isn't already out there.

Ubisoft is doing some damage control here, but they aren't wrong. Any review going up before the servers are live isn't really a trustworthy review as they aren't reviewing the full game. We've barely had any access to the game's content during the testing sessions. We've only had access to two regions (and only the missions in one), and a small amount of the cars. We've been stuck at level 10 out of 100. I would say that's not near enough to make a full review.

But, that won't stop some reviewers from reviewing that limited amount of content, and judging the entire game based on the first 10 levels. Ubisoft wouldn't have to make a statement like this, but right now everyone is so ready to believe anything negative about Ubisoft or it's games that they wouldn't even bat an eye at unfair reviews based on playing a very small part of an absolutely massive game.

It's Ubisoft's fault that they're in that situation. It's just a damn shame that The Crew, which is only published and not developed by Ubisoft, has to have it's reputation already ruined by Ubisoft's own terribly developed games.

There are plenty of websites that cover the console games.  MMORPG should not lower itself discussing these games and stick to the PC platform.  Consoles are just so limiting.

With all the new games coming out, the Destiny servers are emptying out already anyways.

Man, some of you people are so full of yourselves. Congratulations, you can stick rectangular pegs into rectangular holes and assemble a PC! Truly, those of us who possess this knowledge must be godlike.

How about "lowers" themselves to covering whatever games they feel like covering? No one forces you to read articles about games or platforms you care nothing about. You guys can take all this platform superiority B.S. over to r/pcmasterrace.

I played WoW for 3 month after launch for 2 years solidly and on and off for the next 2 years. I soloed my first character and duo'd my second (3rd and 4th were also solo). You only need to group for dungeons the rest you can do on your own. The only things that have changed is it's easier now, mounts you get lower and are a lot cheaper. A level 60 mount used to be almost impossible to afford. Anyone who thinks it was infinitely better back in the day should take off the rose tinted spectacles.

Tell me about it.  While I was was rolling in the gold Pre-BC due to Skinning and Enchanting; coming up with the 400g train, and then 60g mount (I think those were the original prices) was tough without a tradeskill.  I had enough gold to afford the riding epic riding skill and the mount, and still had enough gold to help pay for the skill/mount for some friends.

It was a 1000g for the epic mount and training before any reputation discounts. Not an easy thing to come by, but not near as difficult as some people like to remember it being.

WoW catered to solo players from day one. To pretend that it didnt' is just revisionist history. Yes it caters to solo players more now than it did on launch, but it was still very very solo friendly.

I never bought WoW but did trial as long as 8 years ago and it was pretty solo play friendly back then too. The trial has a level 20 cap and I was there in less than a week without even as much as talking to anyone.

No, it was infinitely better, to quite a few people that is. I would know, as I'm still playing Vanilla, along with a crap load of other people. No rose tinted glasses needed, just the fortitude to accept something that takes more time and more effort.

How to watch the video in full-screen without logging to Google:

1. Right-click the video

2. Choose "Get embed code"

3. Copy-paste the text that appears somewhere where it's easier to view

4. Copy the web address from text and surf to that web address.

Has anyone found any easier ways to view the videos here full-screen without logging on to Google?

I'm not logged in and I can just click "Full screen" on the bottom right of the controls.

Still patiently waiting on The Crew, it's the best arcade racing game I've played since NFSU2. Currently putting as much time as I can into the PS4 beta, it's too bad it has to end tomorrow. December can't come fast enough.
So, one game goes unfunded and they simply start another. If they can't stick to one vision, then I'd be wary of anything they hope to produce. I'm not trying to be pessimistic here, but they either want to finish Gorgon or they don't. I'm already wary of giving them money if they are so willing to change directions so abruptly.

The fact is, WoW (at least in the Vanilla or TBC days) was the last really good product that that Blizzard has produced. Say what you will about D3 or SC2, but neither were anywhere near what they could, or should, have been.

There's plenty of places to play WoW in it's various incarnations these days. If someone doesn't think that the $15 a month price is worth it, just wait a month or so after release, there will be a thing which shall not be mentioned up with the latest expansion for free.

Personally I encourage trying out those first. If you like the expansion, then don't be an asshole and pay the $15 a month to Blizzard and play to your heart's content.

I do envy console people right now. The PC beta was way to short for my taste and i really want to give the game another spin, especially with some extra polish.

For my reflections on the PC "the Crew" beta here but to sum it up it is a game that had a rough start with me but has since grown on me.

But not so much that i will get a new XB1 and a HD tv for it. =P

It's only fair, really. The PC has had two tests so far, and now so will the consoles. Personally, I don't know why they haven't just thrown up the console servers as well as the PC server and had an ongoing test of every system over the last few months. I think a traditional closed beta would have benefited them a lot more than these weekend testing sessions.

This is utterly gratuitous, there appears to be no plot, context or purpose to the game whatsoever.

Where the likes of GTA have a tongue-in-cheek, absurdist edge to them and the violence is the sort of excessive cartoon violence you find in a Schwarzenegger movie; this game strikes me as more of a mass murder simulator.  I fail to see the point of this game.

So, after seeing one short trailer you already know that there is no plot, context or purpose to the game? I'm sure they showed everything there is to this game in one two minute trailer, just like all announcement trailers for games do.

Even if it is just a murder simulator, so what? The developers wanted to make this kind of game, and with all the controversy surrounding it a lot of people are going to want to play it. The point of the game is to make the developers money, and I'm sure it will.

I don't see what the big deal is? We see this kind of stuff in movies all the time, and we've seen it in video games before. Getting a close up of blowing someone's head off, or stabbing them to death, in this isometric game is just horrible, but chopping people's heads off in Age of Conan is just fine?

We MMO players commit mass genocide like this every day, it might not be as violent or gory, but it's ultimately just as senseless. If someone can't handle a little blood and guts then i don't know what to say... get over it?

I'm sure one of these little guys would be more than enough for WoW, and would most likely fit in your case.

R9-270X ITX

Erich Schaefer, Travis Baldree, space, and it's coming to PS4? My interest is piqued.

I don't know what everyone else is complaining about. Both TL1 and TL2 were fantastic games, especially for their price. I was a little peeved that the Torchlight MMO disappeared into the aether, but what can you do?

I'll definitely be keeping my eye on this. Like TL1 and TL2, it may not be a mind blowing experience or even the best game in it's genre, but I'm willing to be that it will be oozing with good, old fashioned fun.

What good would it really do? A couple of years from the revamp you'd be just as tired of that new content as you are of the current content. In the end it would be a giant waste of time and money.

What your looking for is a dynamic, player driven world, and your never going to find it in WoW. EQN will most likely be your best bet, assuming they pull off everything they're talking about.

Started with WoW back in 2004, so 10 years now. Unless you want to count Diablo II, normally I wouldn't but the definition of "MMO" seems to have changed. If you count D2 then since 2000, so 14 years.

Don't be! Maybe they'll tweak the starter cars to not handle like poop, now!

Handling felt great to me. After tweaking the settings a little I had a blast driving around and racing in hardcore mode.

I expected it to feel much worse considering how much everyone was complaining about it. But, after having a go with it, I don't see what everyone's griping about. It's arcadey, just like they said it would be, and it gets better with better parts, just like they said it would. I don't know, different strokes I guess.

As excited as I am for this game I'm glad they've delayed it. The PS4 beta was in a pretty bad state. Had my PS4 freeze twice and had too many game crashes to count. Other than those very critical bugs it was awesome. I didn't notice any other issues, but those definitely need to be sorted out.

Still as excited for this game as I was when it was first announced. Patiently waiting for the next console beta.

Hasn't the PC version been in closed Beta for a couple months?

There's been a couple of week long closed beta sessions on PC in the past couple of months. This is the first bit of public testing that the consoles have gotten.

Looking forward to it, I hope I get a key. Oddly enough they haven't sent any keys out yet, for some reason they've decided to wait until the test actually begins.

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't think this sounded fun at all? Seems to me like Blizzard made a good call scrapping it.
