Now I veeery rarly visit this side anymore. I just get information for many non MMO games that I dotn care, or that I get my information from another place. When I want news for Fallout 4, I dont come here. I still use the gamelist, but its so annoying, that the MMO list is full of games that are no MMOs, just to get more ads, money and traffic. I'm going to switch to other MMO lists, that really list MMOs or at least for a filter option to filter out non-MMOs of their list. Something that MMORPG still didnt manage to do.

I think, in the end, its always about money and popularity.

Okay, bye now, you won't be missed. Now, can we let this pointless thread die?

Looks pretty sweet. If this were to be included in the Season Pass, it would be enough to get me to log back in. But theres no way im paying more money into the game than I already have.

I don't understand everybody hoping this comes with the season pass. Why should it? Saying you won't pay more money into a game you already own seems a silly thjing to say on an MMO website. We all, well... most of us, repeatedly pay into the MMOs we're playing. Arguments can be made that this isn't an MMO, but it sure can feel like one if you let it.

I guess I just don't understand since I didn't get burnt out. I'm still playing the game and having a blast. It's just gotten better and better content wise and this xpac looks to continue that tradition. If it comes free with the season pass then I'll take it, but I have no problem paying for it. Hell, if another season pass comes with it or after it I'll probably buy that as well.

Is that what that game was ?lol.

I thought it was just some Monster truck madness  game or something,i gave it little attention. It looked more like some CEO grew up with too many dirt bikes and Monster Truck shows .Oh well i am sure there will be a lot of fans of that stuff, i know several people that would like that stuff, just not me.

I could honestly care less about the Motorcycles and the new Drift spec, but the Drag spec and Monster spec tented my pants. I guess it's just the hick in me.

I knew they were going to add more specs and that one of them was a Drift spec, I'd hoped another would be Drag, but I never expected the Monster Trucks. It seems rather odd, but I couldn't be happier.

Now I'm just wondering what it's going to cost. A lot of people on the official forums are hoping it will be free with the Season Pass (i.e. bitching and moaning because they know it wont be), but I don't see Ubi or Ivory giving this much away for free.

Now all I need is for Sony to make a next gen Gran Turismo.

It's coming, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Motorcycles and Dragsters and Monster Trucks, oh my!

Mine's right in my signature. It claims to be an MMO when it's really not. (It easily could be, if they just lifted the 8 player restriction, but then that might bring the engine to it's knees.) It has wonky and sometimes god awful physics. Half of the features and cars the devs either eluded to or outright promised are nowhere to be seen. It gets monthly updates, but every update seems to break as much or more than it fixes. Worst of all, it's published by Ubisoft... the horror!

Given all that, I can certainly understand why most racing fans and MMO fans turned their backs on it. Yet, it's still the best arcade racer to come out since NFSU2, IMO, and I have no problems professing my love for the game. NFS 2015 might be a better game, it definitely has a chance at being higher quality, but that remains to be seen. If it's just NFS Rivals with Underground-like customization thrown on top, then The Crew doesn't have anything to worry about, as long as Ivory stick to their word and keep adding to the game.

If these new games are so great, why don't these new games keep the same population (450K) as "sucky" EQ had?

Because even though there are vastly more people playing MMOs these days there are more MMOs to choose from. People are spread out across many more games than they used to be.

If these new games are so great, why are you a content locust?

Grass is always greener. There's nothing wrong with floating around between a few MMOs, and if something new comes out that I'm interested in I'm not going to pass it up because I think I have to stay in one game for years.

If these new games are so great, why are you not willing to pay $15 per month?

Because they don't require me to, but that doesn't stop a lot of others who do choose the optional subscription if one is available. Why are some people willing to shell out $15 a month on a sub, but bitch and moan about spending $5 in a cash shop?

If these new games are so great, how many games on the list on this site have over 450k active players?

I don't know, does it really matter? Feel free to look through the list yourself and take the time to hunt down the numbers for each game.

It doesn't matter if you think less is better. Are you claiming to be an old school MMORPG veteran, when you are really not? That's what the topic is about.

No, my MMO history is laid out in fairly good detail in my profile. There are a few people on this site, and in this very thread, claiming to be "old school" who, according to their profiles, are the same age as me or just a couple of years older. I find their claims hard to believe. Oddly enough though, they aren't pushing any "dumbing down" agenda. Instead they're claiming that old school is the best thing ever and everything new sucks. I see that a lot around here, people trying to pretend they're part of the old school clique of cool kids on this website, even if they've never played a game that even resembles and old school MMO.

Honestly, you have no more proof that the people your calling posers are lying than I do about the people I just mentioned. This thread is less about calling out posers and more about you feeling some sort of betrayal that someone who did play an old school actually prefers modern MMOs. Get over it.

So I guess what you're saying is that true gamers use google and enjoy old fashioned note taking because the functionality that is missing from the game that should be there, isn't and that makes it "hard"... a pretty odd perspective.

back in vanilla WoW there were hunting quests in Stranglethorn Valley. quest text said "hunt so and so, and don't bother asking me where to find them. finding your prey is half the hunt".

the mobs were not marked on the map.

Then came the casuals.

Ah, the good ol' days, back when you actually had to read quest text and explore. I never even installed a mod until I got to MC, and then it was only because the guild required it. These days, when I go back to Vanilla/TBC WoW, I never even boot up the game without 20 or 30 mods installed. Even though I still remember pretty much every inch of that old world, I can't be asked to actually use my brain for anything, mods will do it for me.

I'll admit that I haven't had a huge amount of experience with the community yet. I've only played 40 or so games, which I don't think is near enough to make any sort of judgement. But, so far, my experience has been pleasant. I've played with a few people who've gotten pretty angry, but no one has been completely hateful or nasty yet. I haven't ahd any of the technical issues your referring to either, not yet anyways.

Hoping to pick up The Escapists and Darkest Dungeon for stupid cheap, keeping an eye on the flash sales.

Well, think about it this way: A game for a console is released as is, and there is no doing anything to the base game, unless the developers decide to update the game themselves. A PC game, you can mod, edit, improve it graphically, and just generally add more content to it than you could with a console game. If you were going to buy a game and you had a PC and a console, and the game was available for both, which system would you buy it for? I think most would say PC. Just right there PC has one up on consoles.

I think the real issue is also that a lot of people seem to believe that building a PC that can run everything maxed out is ridiculously expensive. I built mine for $700 and something, and it can run everything maxed out and most likely will until the next PS and Xbox comes out. Thing is even though $700 is more expensive than a console, I still save so much on PC games because I can get them for way cheaper on other sites. This makes it so in the long run PC gaming is way cheaper because I'm not paying $60 every time for a console game.

Also, Star Citizen is anti-console because it wouldn't even be able to do the things it wants to do gameplay wise if they tried to also make the game for consoles... So, blame that on the crappy capabilities of the consoles, not the developers of Star Citizen being "anti-console."

Mods are always held up as some glorious thing when it comes to PC gaming, but you (and quite a few people) seriously underestimate the amount of people who could care less about mods. Mods don't even come in to play when I'm thinking about purchasing a game. Most people don't buy a game because it looks like a great platform for modders to turn into something else, they buy it because they're interested in what the game itself offers. Mods can be a nice bonus for those who care, but they're hardly a reason to pick up a game.

I bought both Skyrim and GTA5 on my 360 and don't regret it. I'm one of those "weird" people who think the games are just fine as they are. More recently I bought The Crew for my PS4 when I could have easily bought it on PC. Why, you might ask? I prefer to play games on the PS4, the graphics are just fine, the frame rates are just fine and I hate M+K, always have. There are lot of people out there just like me.

Yes, you can get games much cheaper for PC, and it's exactly that reason that AAA developers say they need consoles. They get higher sales from consoles and they get a higher percentage of those sales because the prices don't drop as fast. It's not a lie, it's just common sense.

As far as Star Citizen is concerned, I find it funny that you've drank their "it couldn't be on consoles" kool-aid in a thread you started about devs lying. There's nothing happening in SC that a console couldn't handle, No Man's Sky, while not nearly as graphical, proves that. RSI are just pandering to their PC master race audience to get more and more funding.

Alright, so before I start, I have to add, I have no problem with the PC or consoles. I'm mostly a PC gamer but will most likely get a PS4 eventually since I enjoy JRPGs and Japanese developers seem to ignore the PC like it's an ugly, deformed monstrosity.

My problem with consoles is that they do hold back the capabilities of PC games, especially open-world RPGs (even Pete Hines, the vice president of Bethesda Softworks has talked smack about the PS3, and for more info on that if you're curious:, and the blatant lie that developers use to excuse away the fact that most make these type of games for both the consoles and the PC.

That lie is that without consoles they wouldn't make the money required to make the game to the best of their abilities. The funny part about all of this is that developers seem to forget to mention a crucial factor to players, and that is sale numbers. Guess what? The PC market dominates sales, while the consoles don't even make a dent compared to what PC sales make, and this is with people torrenting games!

So this excuse that developers rely on console sales to make their games, and can't just rely on PC sales is utterly false, but one that doesn't ever seem to be challenged. Why is that? I'm genuinely curious how developers have continued to use this tired excuse even as recent as 2015 where CD Projekt Red stated, and I quote, "If the consoles are not involved there is no Witcher 3" (and may I mention that the Witcher series of games were PC first games at the start, in fact the first game in the series is still only available on the PC, meaning that the most dedicated people for that game series were and definitely still are, PC gamers).

I am sorry, but it seems that many have had the wool pulled over their eyes, but this is an excuse and nothing more. It is about money and it has to do with greed. It's sad to me that in 2015, there really isn't a AAA+ studio that makes games just for PC. There is zero reason for it, and the reason for it that developers would have you believe isn't even true.

Anyways, that's my rant on PC vs. consoles for the day. What are your thoughts on the matter guys? Also, is there a AAA+ studio that makes games just for PC, and I've just somehow missed them? If so, do share!

Total revenue is higher on PC, obviously, as there are far more games available on PC. But, I have a hard time believing that games sell higher on PC than console. I've never seen any numbers to back that assertion up, only speculation fueled by the inability to get any real figures for digital sales. When it comes to AAA development consoles do have to be involved, that's where the money is. On consoles you don't have 100s of thousands or millions of copies being sold for dirt cheap through steam sales and sites like G2A.

As far as PC only AAA devs, not much anymore. MMO devs would have been the safest bet when looking for PC only AAA development, but that's not the case anymore. I think it's pretty telling how well games do on consoles when devs that used to be PC only (with a few exceptions throughout their long history), like Blizzard and Daybreak (SOE), are taking the time to release console ports.

You can call it all a lie, but the fact is that game development is all about making money. There's a large demand for console gaming, whether PC diehards like it or not, and companies would be remiss to not cater to it. We live in a capitalistic world fueled by greed, plain and simple. I wouldn't be surprised to see RSI release a console game in the future. Not Star Citizen, not after all of their anti publisher and anti console hubbub, but something after Star Citizen is out the door and all the things they've said to get funded are mostly forgotten.

My daughter had a Logitech H800 headset she got for Christmas fall apart on her. It was a piece of junk I regret buying. I gave her my Skull Candy Plyr 2 I posted above. They have been great. All the features I mentioned above have not disappointed. It has an auto-off feature after a couple minutes of no input signal to help prolong battery life. The battery life has been very good.

The only gripe I have is that I have to adjust them sometimes to get them comfortable. They're not uncomfortable, but this is where the headset could improve the most.

I'm probably going to get another set or a Plyr 1 to replace it. I looked at various wireless options and that is the only set I could find under $300. The Steelseries Wireless H looks very nice, but not for $150 - $200 more.

I'm currently using a new H600 that I got to replace my old H600 that lasted me 5 years or so now. Shame to hear about the H800 falling apart, I'd read that they weren't near as good as the H600.

I've been eying the Steelseries Wireless H myself They're overly expensive and probably not really worth that price, but from what I've read they probably are the best wireless gaming headset on the market. Still trying to convince myself that I need or want them bad enough to justify the cost.

Man, I can't imagine what it must be like for so many of you. Your all so caught up looking for perfection in the vain hope of reliving whatever you think were your MMO glory days that you can't even let yourselves have any fun. I can't imagine looking around and thinking that everything is not good enough, even the games I remember fondly from those glory days I yearn for. I doubt any of you want my pity, but you have it. The world of gaming must be so confusing and frustrating for you all right now, left with nothing to do but angrily type away on forums seeking validation for your hatred.

Maybe the huge amount of you out there could get together and turn your negativity into something positive? There's got to be some of you who have the required skills to build your perfect MMO. Get proactive, if gaming studios and hopeful 14 year olds wont cater to your interests then cater to them yourselves! I'm sure you guys could all agree on what would make the best MMO, I mean, it's not like your all so picky that you cant find a single game that interests you. I'm sure you guys would have no problem nailing down a set of features that would make all of you happy. Get to it, show all these lazy AAA publishers and indie studios how it's done!

MMOs in mostly the form they were in a decade ago haven't gone anywhere. Some old school gamers just need to stop looking at AAA developers for their games, your a niche and AAA has no interest in you. You need to lower your standards and take a look around at the existing and upcoming games that are aimed at the old school crowd, and stop nitpicking them to death because they aren't exactly what you want or the same "quality" as AAA games. Nobody gets exactly the games we want, every game can always be better and more suited towards an individual, but I'll be damned if the old school crowd doesn't scream louder than everyone else about it.

PC games are cheaper than the console ones,  have been for a long time

If you say so...

Looking at The Witcher 3 on Amazon right now it's $59.99, GOG $59.99, Steam $59.99

No i think you are just ignoring evidence, unless of course in the USA they charge more for PC games, which tbh, i find hard to believe, the prices i quoted are from todays amazon prices for Witcher 3, where indeed, the PC version is £10 cheaper than the console versions, and i doubt whether anyone would question whether amazon is a reputable retailer or not, and since £10 is roughly equivalent to about $14, if anything, prices in the UK are probably higher than in the states anyway.

So yeah, i can see why people would buy from places like G2A etc, hoping to save a bit of money, problem is, its a false economy, as your not saving anything if in the end, you have to buy the game again. Maybe this is also why companies like Amazon, and also Steam for that matter, are often the preferred option when it comes to buying games, and also why EA is trying to improve their own sales through Origin, and GOG has their own platform now too.  So, people need to shop around for the cheapest deals, but at the same time, they need to understand that if a deal is too cheap, it's probably going to involve stolen property.

They must charge more here in the U.S. as the prices I left quoted above aren't pulled from my ass. Those are the current prices for The Witcher 3 on popular U.S. storefronts. I'm not ignoring evidence anymore than anyone else.

In any case, my original point was that a lot of gamers who state that PC gaming is super cheap are talking about sites like G2A, which may or may not be selling fraudulent keys. Meaning that PC gaming may be cheaper in some parts of the world, but it isn't super cheap unless your willing to receive stolen property.

I honestly can't believe that people still use sites like G2A, this isn't the first time we've heard of things like this happening, and it wont be the last. I guess I just don't understand, it's obvious that when a brand new game is selling for 50% cheaper than anywhere else that something is most likely wrong. If people are so desperate for the game as to take that kind of risk why not just pirate it? That's effectively what they're doing by using these sites anyways.

PC games are cheaper than the console ones,  have been for a long time

If you say so...

Looking at The Witcher 3 on Amazon right now it's $59.99, GOG $59.99, Steam $59.99, GameStop.... well, you get the point. I don't want to derail the thread, but it's not any cheaper and isn't going to get any cheaper any time soon, at least not here in the States.

You're just being a contrarian, pc games are routinely 10 dollars cheaper than the console counterpart.  Just because some companies don't do it doesn't mean that its not true, it means some companies are really greedy and think they can charge the higher rate.

Sites that are legit?  Stick to the well known ones like steam, etc to buy your games.  Like others have said if a game is 1/3 the price of every other site don't bite its likely a stolen key.

I'm not being contrary, those aren't just "some sites", those are the sites that 90% of people will buy any game from. Unless a game is on sale, like they are constantly on Steam, and the PS store, and the Xbox store, it's pretty much always the exact same price across all platforms. PC games are not just inherently cheaper than console games in most cases. But whatever, people can think what they want. Like I said I don't want to derail the thread, not going to post about it again.

If they're selling a brand new $60 game for $20, then it's safe to assume it's not legit. Regardless of what PC diehards like to think, games are not cheaper on PC, AAA games are all still $60 brand new. If someone manages to get it way cheaper than that there's a pretty good chance that wherever they purchased from uses some pretty shady practices to acquire their keys.

So, how can you know? You can't, really. Just don't be a cheapskate and buy your games from established and reputable retailers.
