Star Trek Online: The Future of Star Trek Online
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/20/08 7:06:14 PM
I've about given up on existing franchises making it in the mmorpg world. marvel died, star wars sucked, star trek and dc online are in limbo. Stargate I have no hope in. Conan is about the only one but it didn't have a strong existing franchise just some nice books and a good flick. |

It's being done by Sony... woe to the people of short memory
General Discussion « The Agency 11/14/07 9:28:30 PM
It's unfortunate. This is a interesting sounding game and one I've wanted to see. But seeing the name Sony on it worries me.

anyone besides me glad a SCI FI MMO is coming out?
General Discussion « Tabula Rasa 4/29/07 1:27:03 AM
Most of the other sci fi games are ship based only. Only Anarchy Online and SWG were the only that were really character based (there may be small company ones I never heard of). And out of these on AO is what i'd call sucessful.

I don't care so much about on time (though with funcom I dont have too many worries.) It's more important that it's released when its ready.

Hmm the years id already figured out. Father is weird doesn't really show up on the contest paragraph.
<quote>With Garriot invovled you expected something more than suckage? He's not had a solid game since he stopped prentending to be Lord British. It's sad really. He has this huge opinion of his 'creative vision' meanwhile everyone's laughing at him</quote> I would say he hasn't made many good games at the last years of being lord british either. Getting killed in UO must have changed him ;) This game does have some buzz. It and Conan from all the current mmorpg are the ones most anticipated, from what i've seen. This contest is hard to locate on the main tabula page. It's more for the long time or "early" fans. The big advert push will come later. City of Heroes did the same if I remember right. |

Did working with the class beastmaster help them realize the right time to shoot a lame horse?

Well I guess transformers will sue them. The case will be thrown out. (Just cause it looks and acts like the truck doesn't make it optimus). And then in a year they buddy up with cryptic and announce the Transformers MMORPG to be made by them.

Originally posted by Der_DeSI thought the same thing at first. But then Optimus is based off of a very generic 80's semi. Why a generic 80's semi appears in COH/V is a different question. I can't quite read the license plate on it. |

Now if only SOE would auction off Star Wars Galaxies so that another company could do it justice.

World of Warcraft: Editorial: Delaying the Balance
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/28/06 1:59:27 AM
I don't why you think WOW is the most repetitive mmorpg game there is in the last 15 years. SWG is infinitely more repetitive than this game ever has been. Even City of Heroes which I love repeats same type of missions and settings over and over.
When you get down to it games are as repetitive as you make them. Diablo 2 could be seen as just clicking over and over and doing nothing else. Only Adventure games of old like Kings Quest and Longest Journey escape this. Heck life itself is horribly repetitive. PVP wise I might almost agree with you. Some classes just suck at PVP while others seem overly strong in it. It would take a drastic change to alter this as it is now. Perhaps BC is half the change. Who knows Blizzard doesn't let anyone know till their games are released. If you don't like it don't play it and quit moaning. If you like it then play it. |

World of Warcraft: Editorial: The Burning Crusade
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/20/06 10:10:58 PM
You're right except that they haven't given up on hero classes they stated that. They very much have implied that more is to come. That even at lev 70 people won't be strong enough to face Arthas.
I personally don't see the great need to change stuff. Do you want massive changes that alienate people like the things that happened to SWG (not that it was a great game to begin with). Mostly though its hard to speak of what you haven't played. |

MMORPG.COM News: BioWare Making MMORPG in Austin
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/23/06 11:51:36 AM
This is interesting news but I wish they'd say what genre their game will be. Is it sword and sorcery, futuristic, modern day? The only news that is given is the bad news of SOE folk being involved. Maybe SWG is getting cancelled and they're making a new star wars mmorpg?
