then join us!

we'll have fun; seems to be lots of kiddies in this game and I look forward to their eTears when <PV> goes on our killing sprees :)

Pax Veritas

Pax Veritas, meaning “True Peace” in Latin is a Republic guild with worldwide membership focused on open world PVP and endgame. Founded in 2003 on the Chilastra server in Star Wars Galaxies. Our members also played on the Bleeding Hollow server in WOW. Known for seamless integration and effortless cooperation, the venerable guild Pax Veritas dominated the rebel landscape on the Star Wars Galaxies Chilastra server and will bring the same to SW:TOR as defenders of the Galactic Republic.

We currently only have members from Chilastra but players that have never played a MMO or never played SWG are welcome.

Members: 33

7 Jedi Knights
4 Troopers
6 Jedi Consular
5 Smuggler
11 Undecided

Code Of Conduct

Most guilds have about 30 paragraphs on the subject, I will keep ours short and sweet. Don't do anything that would violate the terms of service on the forums or in game. When it comes to being on Vent, no guild infighting or drama. Meaning no screaming at others cause you get killed in PVP, you didn't get healed in a raid, or someone just aggroed a bunch of adds.

My ears have feelings too and yelling just leads to more yelling. If theres an issue it can be worked out, players can be educated on how to play, and sometimes people just make mistakes.

Operations

Based on how many people we have and classes, the guild will be split up in groups of 16 to 20 members depending on what max operation size will be. Our goal is to ensure that the entire guild gets to experience end game content and not get left out. We also have members that are willing to be floaters, meaning if you can't make a scheduled operation one of the floaters can take your spot.

What do we do when a Operation is 8 man? If max is 16 then your raid group will split in two and both groups will run the 8 man.

PVP

PVP is what I like to call guild family time, its when we all get together in a single channel in vent and go on a world PVP killing spree and have some great laughs. If you don't know your profession very well we can teach you to become better. We have plans on making empire characters for this reason, kinda like how football teams play each other in preseason to make themselves a better team. We used this method in other games and it helped players greatly.

Rivals

We were a very hated guild on our server so we have more than enough rivals, possibly we can get your guild in an allied guild once we find them. We are only accepting guilds from Chilastra as rivals.

Allies

We are open to any allies, two of our rival guilds have 60+ members each so we would prefer to ally large Republic guilds (50+).

If you apply to Pax Veritas Please include a little about yourself and what kind of experience you have.

You really do believe that you are objective?  Nothing to say, I've the same background. Jedi pre patch 9 on SWG, I like Eve, but to be honnest your message is too subjective to be helpful. It's not because your mom tells you that you are an objective person that you really are.

I will not advice anyone to buy this game before march and the graphic revamp. I don't want to disguss my guildmates, I know that even if they play only one day to what is online currently, they'll never come back. We all have heard enough lies coming from $o€ to know how careful we should be with developper promises.

The one thing which is alarming is that on SWG, the devs were only promising battlefields, a GCW rewamp, but not a patches promising to fix  terrible performances . What if the patch doesn't come in March? Most of the players who bought the game are simply not able to run it on their computers! The minimum requirement written on their site is fraudulent. LOL is it really playable with 512mo of ram? WIth 8giga i've problems...

Agreed. Failed thread, failed user.

I've read your posts as well;fortunately I am polite enough to not comment on your level of fail

ya know, there was a time in my SWG time that I thought it was the right of a paying player to b1tch and moan about the game but then I realized they were negatively influencing people from buying or rejoining the game which in turn made my experience worse. I put my background and gaming likes in the first post so you knew where I was coming from. The people b1tching about, although not saying it explicitly, are make it clear that they dont enjoy a challenge and need their hands held throughout the game. For them I suggest they check out TOR

turning off shadows worked wonders for me... i've never run an MMO with shadows anyway...

other than lag, which you can still play through, all the complaints have either been resolved or are simply a complaint about play-style. . . there aren't tons of 'quests' yet and there is open PVP - if you want to quest in a vacuum, then perhaps this game is not for you - it has never been marketed as anything but what it is.

in an MMO with factions, there has to be SOME PvE - especially in the beginning. You have to get experience/skill/battle points SOMEHOW, right? As much as I like Eve, the skill point-over-time systems isnt very engaging - you arent actively participating in obtaining skills points; you're just traveling to and purchasing books.

In any game, no matter how "sandboxy" it is, there has to be SOME pve element

so far. my biggest complaint in this game is having to listen to all the whiners in chat - if you dont like the game, log out!

so i am neither a fanboi nor a hater; just an MMO player whos been around the block a few times. My favorite mmo was pre-nge SWG; second favorite is Eve. I hate questing and I hate being locked into a certain play-style / combat role. For the longest time in SWG I was a Pistoleer/Master Architect and I had a blast.

Anyway, I've played just about every MMO that's been released since 2003 and none of them have stuck for all the same reason - there was but one way to play and the quests lead you the entire way.

So that tells you what kind of player I am and what type of game I am looking for.

---------------------

Pros

  • You can use any weapon; you're just going to be better at using the ones you invest your BPs (battle points) into.
  • I can put my battle / skill points anywhere - If i want to be a crafter with a little bit of combat, i can do it.
  • You can attack ANYTHING and ANYONE - but there are repercussions. I REALLY like that you have to consciously hold down the control key in order to attack an NPC or Player that is not an enemy. This will prevent people from whining later when the repercussions don't go their way.
  • Aiming for combat - I get so tired of Tabbing targets and just mashing keys - you actually have to do something in this game ot be effective in combat.
  • PvE isnot the only  choice - I dont like to PvE; I only want to PvE in order to get something (faction, credits, gear).
  • PvP is NOT a choice
  • Great tech/GM support
Cons

  • Limited customizations in character creation
  • Can't do keymap from options screen (i HIGHLY suggest a game pad for this - i am using the nostromo n52)
  • Laggy- reminds me of being in corellia in early days of SWG; or restuss in later days of SWG
  • Loading Screen takes FOR-EV-ER
  • Controls are a little wonky but use traditional WASD movements. I get a little cornfused  with my Alt and Tab key but that is a leftover from SWG where Alt does what tab does here...
** Sorry i have not got into crafting yet so cannot comment on that aspect of the game **

Basically, the cons aren't REAL cons - these are growing pains. I expect lag in a newbie area of a game released less than 24 hours ago. I expect that my old-man mind and fingers are going to need some time to get used to new controls. What I DO think they need to do is work on the character creation - players like to highly customize their toons; it helps us connect to the world.

As for support, I gotta say, MS is doing great! THey resolved their initial issues and have superb in game support. I mentioned something in chat about not being able to attack an NPC and a GM showed up a few mintues later to tell me what I was doing wrong (not holding down CTRL on a "white" con NPC)

Overall, this game is NOT going to be for everyone - it is not going to be for the SWG players who hated the TEF system and it isnt going to be for the Eve players who raged over their new mining Hulk being destroyed. Like the old SWG and Eve, ER isnt a magical world where your equipment doenst decay without insurance and other players are prevented from attacking you my unknown forces. This is "real world" where your choices actually matter! As long as those that enjoy these "riskier" games are in for the long haul and are understanding of MMO release woes, this game will thrive.

See ya in game

And this game might just be the one :)

thanks for this post, Lobo... it's tough to wade through the crap in the other threads to get good information from the bashing. As an old SWG-er I have high hopes that game is somewhat similar to early-SWG where the content was all player driven.  The roadmap presented by masthead seems to make sense too - we'll have a few months to get "good" so when the other content comes out, we'll be ready.

SWG failed when they tried to cater to the MMO-clone carebear crowd. Eve continues to work b/c they never did cater to that crowd and continue to hold true to their intent regardless of the rants from podded miners.

Like SWG, the community is what will make this game successful. Based on the other threads and the rants from the hand-hold crowd, I feel ER will be a place for me.

definitely disappointing to read this; i been waiting for this release. just wondering though - for those that played SWG at release, it too was considered rough. would you have stuck with SWG if it wasnt star wars?

hell yes, because it was an awesome game to begin with, you could have put any sci-fi skin on it and it would have rocked.

aww come now, we were blinded by blasters and wookie hair :)

well from what i hear it has been worked on concurrently - who knows though?

do I sense some sarcasm, tux?

:)

for those that continue to play, content is content. Realizing what you can control and cannot can be liberating.

I'm just glad it is on schedule - now they can move on to GCW

The new update has cool art - but needs some more content aside from escort missions and collections.

I do give them kudos for the art AND making the new updater playable by ALL (including < lvl 10) - There is a full page add in the new book for SWG so perhaps it will attract some new players. Afterall, 90% of the 'fun' in this game is teh community

here are some more art assets:

we have 12 servers down and only 13 to go and once again this shows $OE and every gamer out there who is right. right now if pre-cu was still running $OE would be opening more servers due to more and more people wanting to get away from the boring level based games and want a game like swg pre-cu.

and mark my words bioware best be watching. if they think us vets are going to roll over for them cuz they think tor looks nice think again.

lol your four years of hard work posting harsh words about SOE is finally paying off!!

four years of posting the truth about $OE

four years of telling gamers everywhere to stay away from $OE

four years of $OE making themselfs look bad with stupid unwanted ideas and content

i wonder if we will even see the zombie patch now. i don't think we will.

and after 4 yrs what has it gotten you? game is still running. you WILL see the zombies all they did was close the underpopulated servers. i'm still happy :)

i dont think that anyone believes SWG is pulling in hoardes of new players -  I do come across new players every week or so - but for those of us who have remained in game, the FCTS is a success. It has improved the gameplay of those that got to move to new servers and it improved the gameplay of those of us on populated servers by giving us new players to play with.

Why not shut down unused servers?

You vets may want to take notice in case you ever plan on coming back:

STAR WARS GALAXIES™ SERVER CLOSURE F.A.Q.

Which servers will be closing?

The following 12 servers will be closing on Thursday, October 15 2009:

- Corbantis

- Europe-Infinity

- Intrepid

- Kauri

- Kettemoor

- Lowca

- Naritus

- Scylla

- Tarquinas

- Tempest

- Valcyn

- Wanderhome

When will these 12 servers be closed?

These servers will be closing on Thursday, October 15, 2009, at 4:40 PM Pacific Time.

Why are you closing these 12 Star Wars Galaxies Servers?

The Free Character Transfer Service launched earlier this year with the intention of allowing players to transfer to servers with more active communities, creating a more vibrant and memorable Star Wars Galaxies gaming experience. The Free Character Transfer Service was a phenomenal success, leaving the less active servers in an undesirable position. In order to help streamline the current and new user experience, we have made the decision to close the less active servers and focus on the thriving Star Wars Galaxies servers.

Can I move my characters off of these servers?

Yes, you can move any character from the 12 identified servers up until Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 4:59 PM PT. Please see http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/freects/ for terms and conditions.

Will I be charged to move my characters from these servers?

No. If you take advantage of the Free Character Transfer Service before Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 5:00 PM PT, you will not be charged to transfer your characters to one of the 13 destination servers including:

- Ahazi

- Bloodfin

- Bria

- Chilastra

- Eclipse

- Europe-Chimaera

- Europe-FarStar

- Flurry

- Gorath

- Radiant

- Shadowfire

- Starsider

- Sunrunner

Where can I find out more information on the Free Character Transfer Service?

http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/freects/

What if my account is inactive/closed but I want to move my characters off of these servers?

You must reactivate your account by visiting the www.station.sony.com and entering a valid credit card or Game Time card. Once your account is active, paid, and in good standing you will be able to transfer your character using the Free Character Transfer Service through October 15, 2009.

What happens if I am not able to transfer my characters from these servers before October 15th 2009, can I move my characters after October 15th 2009?

Beginning October 16th, 2009 at 12:01 AM PT you will be able to contact Customer Support and for the standard Character Transfer fee of $50.00 you will be able to schedule a transfer for your character, eligible structures and inventory.

Please be aware that the Character Transfer Service from closed servers does not guarantee that all inventory items will be transferred. Due to the unique nature of moving a character from a closed server, the Character Transfer Service may take additional time to process.

For more information on the Character Transfer Service visit: https://store.station.sony.com/cts/...ertransfers.jsp

What if I don’t want to change servers?

Unfortunately, if you’re on a server that’s slated to be closed you will have to make the move in order to continue playing Star Wars Galaxies.

I like playing the game by myself and don’t care how many players are on my particular server at a given time. Can you just leave me be and let me keep playing?

Sorry, but in an effort to improve the gameplay experience for everyone, all characters on the identified servers must be moved. We encourage everyone to take advantage of the Free Character Transfer Service before October 15, 2009 so that you can move your character at no charge.

Does this mean you’re shutting down Galaxies?

No, not at all. We have lots of new content and updates planned for Galaxies and remain committed to making the game an enjoyable and engrossing experience. The server closure is an effort to improve the gameplay experience for all of our players.
