OP gave the game a chance and turned out to like it. This is how I believe you need to walk into this game. You cannot jump into WAR expecting it to be WoW 2. |

If you were honestly wondering how the VG:SOH game play was like and considering playin it then maybe a key would be spared. Anyways good luck with messing around in EQ2 until WAR releases. |

I do not think the servers are dead, but that can be because I play on the most populated server, Seradon. The Vanguard server forums are pretty populated if that says anything for server population. Only reason I can think of as to why you would say the server is dead can be that you were on the PVP server. Seradon always has people blabbering away on general chat and this is on Kojan, the supposedly lowest pop. continent. |

I also play on Seradon and the general chat on Kojan, supposedly the least populated area in the game, is always (prime time) full of people chatting away. |

I have played a Warrior to level 10 and am now currently playing a Dread Knight, have only gotten him to level 5.
I as of this moment do not know which class I prefer. I really like my warrior but am also enjoying the Dread Knight very much. I want the class I stick with to have tanking capabilities but also when needed be able to DPS. I understand that these are melee heavy damage soakers, and I am not expecting their potential DPS to be exactly leet status but I want it to be respectable.
I am not looking for a which class is better per say response, but I am looking for someone, if you have experience with the class, to provide some feed back on the play style, tanking capabilities, dpsing capabilities, and your general experience with the class. Already it seems as though the Dread Knight would be more of a DOT with Aggro over time type class, compared the the warriors strictly melee oriented you hate me when I hit you type style. Any feed back would be great guys. |

I have made it to level 7 today and began my adventures as a diplomat.
I have spent over 3-4 hours today playing the quests for diplomacy and leveling that up, currently sitting on level 4.
100 people? maybe the pvp server? |

lol! I was just going to make a very similar post before I left for work.
I had 6 hours last night at 10 PM so thought might as well leave the launcher running to install it. I wake up this morning thinking I am going to log on real quick to see how the character creation is like, something to leave me looking forward to tonight when I can immerse myself fully into the game and. . .
Still need 15 hours to finish patching... WTF!
I told my GF to not even bother starting her account up, use a free trial to patch the updates to the game first... that might take a whole day in itself
EDIT: I have just restarted it, it should not start over but it does verify what files it already has to know where to start downloading. That might be the case OP. |

Ok folks Hello again, My GF and I both have a copy of the game and are currently debating on what we should be. She has decided that she wants to be an elf of some sort either half or high so I will follow suite. Anyways After reviewing the different classes together She out of Psioncist and Blood Mage has decided to be a Blood Mage.
I had originally wanted to be either a Blood Mage or a Necromancer and since she is going to be a BMG I have decided not to. After reviewing the Necro I realized that a lot of what describes them resembles the play style of my warlock on WoW so I have decided not to be a Necro. I am thinking I might be a Psioncist but not really sure, as I read more guides each class seems very detailed compared to the simplicity I was used to.
IN SHORT: Any suggestions on a class that would duo well with a Blood Mage? I prefer being ranged but any suggestions will do.
As always thanks in advance guys.

I have noticed in the past couple if weeks the popularity of V:SOH to raise. I myself was not interested in it, but with all the posts about how it has dramatically improve it is becoming a must see for many people. Those who were disappointed by AoC have also began to take an interest in this game considering that their AoC ready system is also now more then capable of handling the requirements for V:SOH. Can it rise to success? Well if those that are playing decide to stick around and bring their friends in, word of mouth can be a very powerful thing. Especially for a game like V:SOH in which there is no where to go but up.

I just want to thank everyone for their replies thus far. It is really giving me a better feeling for the game and an inside perspective that I for some reason cannot seem to find anywhere else on the web atm. I am liking what I am hearing a lot and have went ahead and ordered a collector's edition for myself and am giving the regular copy I had stashed away to my G/F who seems just as excited to join me. If there are more comments on the game please do post, as each person that is sharing their experience of the game with me I get a better view of Vanguard. I have started researching on the different races and classes and wow. . . dumbfounded. There are just so many I do not even know where to begin digging up information. There is a nice link for the various classes that I will take a look at soon but I am debating on a race is there specifics as to races that excel as different classes? In WoW it did not matter much as gear late game pretty much balanced everything out. Again any help is appreciated and thanks everyone for your contributions. |

I have spent about 3-4 hours on the game so far and am currently sitting at level 8. How is the rest of the game going to play out? Me running around soloing all the quests? Me running solo into instances and being able to own everything in there? |

My only point of reference of how an mmorpg works in its entirety would be WoW. I am not saying I have not played another mmorpg because I have tried quite a few actually, but WoW was the only one in which I have ever reached the level cap and have seen a large chunk of the world.
I am really looking to immerse myself in the game but have not gotten the chance yet. Thank you guys in advance for any help. |
