Shadowrun Online project dead: Good or Bad
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 9/07/07 2:19:45 PM
I agree. The Shadowrun system and universe make a great MMORPG. I'm not sure whose bright idea it was making it an FPS, but I understand that the Vista only game was crap. |

This could be a really good game but there is still so many issues that need to be fixed and content that needs to be added. I hope that this isn't one of those multi-year betas.... |

It apparently used to, but no longer. Gameguard does block keyloggers and bot programs, though. |

Hear, hear! I think a lot of that has to do with a sense of entitlement that a lot of gamers develop. I can't tell you how many times I've heard: "I've been playing this game since it was a closed beta, so I know what I'm talking about!" Okay, grandpa. The fact that you have given a company money to entertain you for several years doesn't mean much to companies that have millions of customers. It's not like you were elected mayor or that anybody cares what you think. MMOs, like any other game, are supposed to be fun. When something stops being fun, I stop playing. No bitching and moaning, no crying over my level 52 Shaman, (yeah, yeah, he's not even 60- I hate instances), I simply find something else to do. |

Just as long as I'm not stuck as a Zergling.... |

Granted, World of Warcraft was the first MMO that I really got into (I did enjoy Ultima Online when it first came out, but I stopped playing after losing my graveyard job at an ISP back in 1997), but I have found one feature that I think should be universal in MMOs: The Auction House. I am trying out Global a few games right now and have begun to hate the "personal store" idea. Players, especially the more immature ones, have no idea how to price anything and the stores are ruled by greed, idiocy, and websites that sell MMO currency. In WoW, I was an AH whore. Sure there were several items that were overpriced and there was always that person(s) who would undercut the market drastically, but I would rather have that then not be able to afford anything at all. So, until 2 Moons, and Global Mu pull their heads out of their asses, I will be "that guy" who affects the market by undercutting everyone else. Seriously, 100,000 of any type of currency is too much for a crappy mace. |

I don't see how the Zerg would be playable. They are a "hive mind" species (like bees). |
There's a section of commands in the Global Mu website ("C" opens character screen which allows you to edit your stats, "V" opens inventory, etc). I just started too and I am having difficulty figuring out what I am supposed to be doing. I don't mind a little grinding and I like that I am getting used to the controls, but where are the quests at? |
Seriously. Everyone here who has actually played Warhammer (with the actual figurines) raise their hands. |

I always felt that being part of any community was helping out the young (newbies). Even in most guilds I had difficulty finding anybody to help out with some of the lvl 50+ instances and I spent a lot of my guild time doing RFC, WC, and SFK runs to help out and teach the newbies how to party. BTW- Is there a MMORPG that is free of Chuck Norris and Leroy Jenkins? |

Amen, brother. You should have seen my "ignore" list when I played WoW. It must've contained half of Malfurion! |

What is the time commitment like? (I stopped playing wow because of the 6 hour instances that I had to do over and over to get all of the stuff) Is the in game advertising well done or is it annoying? |
There's also the bot factor. People can charge outrageous prices in games for crap items because people who buy their gold (sorry, WOW) dont worry about what they spend as much. |
What kind of time commitment can I expect in this game? Can people play it casually or do I need to do the WoW repative 6 hour instances? WIll this game allow me to have a job, RL friends, and a girlfriend? |
So, I quit playing WOW because of the enourmous time commitment. I don't mind having a never ending game or taking a year of casual play to reach a high level but without spending 6 hours going through an instance that I have gone through a million times before with people who don't know how to group so that I can not get my drop. Again. I was looking at this game and MU Online and will be checking them out tomorrow. What I want to know is what kind of time commitment is there in Ryzom? |
