So with all that does this mean that Darkfall is for mums? Of course it isnt. The same can be said about spellborn. Both games are catering to both PvPers and PvErs. That is not a hardcore PvP game for either. A hardcore PvP game would not have any PvE what so ever, everything would be PvP.

Both Darkfall, Spellborn, and even AOC. Oh and WoWhammer are all catering to PvErs and PvPers. All you need to do is read there feature list and the comments the devs make. Just face it all 4 games are trying to cater to everyone. All lean more towards PvP or PvE, but they still offer something for everyone none of them even Darkfall are just taking on PvE or PvP to the game.

Darkfall is not a Hardcore mmo so why call other games for moms when people can easily say the same about Darkfall and back it up with the same logic used to say they are carebear.

edit: quick summary if my point is not clear enough, Both games are offering something for everyone. Darkfall and Spellborn are aimed at gamers who enjoy good PvP, but also do not want to have to focus on just that aspect in the game so they have the choice of good PvE as an alternative. These games are basically sandbox games.

Or have elements of sandbox games, since they both add lineir content to make the world more interesting with all the freedom of choice of a sandbox game although spellborn is not as much of a sandbox as Darkfall due to the levels and classes. Therefore neither is for moms, or hardcore PvPers/PvErs, they are aimed at gamers who like having lots of choices.

You don't have a clue what a hardcore PvPer wants.. what you are explaining is a game similar to FURY... No one is looking for a PvP deathmatch game that only focuses on mindless killing with no consequence

That fact is HardCore PvPers ARE looking for a PvE and PvP combined experience aka a sandbox aka a game like Asheron's Call on the Darktide server - it's not just about killing it's about player owned dungeons and not dungeons (when owned) back up your players with NPCs.. a good PvP game is PvP with PvE on the side.. they have to coexist and not be seperated from each other.. when you seperate the two there is no real conflict

You are right for one thing though Real PvPers will not enjoy darkfall or spellborn (lineage 2 clone)

Out of curiousity: I stopped playing LotRO roughly 2 weeks after Shores of Evendim, for the lack of any sort of challenge whatsoever. I used to play Guardian, had the best available equipment easily, and found Helegrod and all other endgame content to be extremely easy for my tastes.

Has this changed? Is the new content more difficult? I used to play with a very good healer, which probably helped a bit, but all in all I just couldnt find any challenge anywhere. It was just victory after victory even with screwing up.

Now, I am a year-long MMO veteran, and I know this game was made for newcomers and/or genre newbies. But did this change?

Coming from someone who has actually played in the Rift and isn't talking out of his ass I can say that the Rift truely is challenging MUCH more than carn dum and urugarth, the update has been out for quite a while now and only a few raiding guilds(its a 12 man raid) have been able to beat the Balrog

Of course just like a raid in any game once you know how to beat the bosses it's pretty easy

RoK is an amazing expansion especially for new players like myself... I think it's the best starting area in any MMO to date and they really should get a trial out there for those interested.. on the other hand though is the fact that if I leave RoK early to play with the rest of my guild I give up the chance to haev extremely good gear for my level which is unfortunate that it's so uneven over the continents

I have played a lot of MMOs and none have come close to what I experienced in AC (I also played during the shadow wars)

Please explain this depth you speak of, I have a hard time believing the LOTRO gameplay is no where near EQ2s

It could easily be worse than EQ2s but LOTRO has been out for how long? and EQ2 how long? (I am not giving you the info as you should know this)

haha and openedge gets more and more rediculous.. sorry but you are NOT anti-fanboi you are anti-anyone-that-gives-LOTRO-credit

I guess you missed my one post..

I actually said I liked the graphics...the landscapes look great...

Otherwise I cannot help it that...

The game gets boring after level 15, and extreme boredom 30+

The character models look ridiculous actually...of course the clay model versions of EQ2 look funny at times as well...but, feel more detailed and lifelike than the drawn caricatures of LOTRO. (Even WoW with it's stylized look, seems to look better overall for visual quality of character models)

Some of the worst class selections available ...

Clunky animations, dull combat, horrid sound...even though music is cool at times, and other times non-existent or bland...

Aggro is not consistent through combat, sometimes works sometimes not...

Main story quests require grouping to complete storylines, or else you never will feel like you ended the story properly (or you must wait until it turns grey before attempting...)

Taken a loved license and made it bland...period..(Turbine has a good track record for this also...i.e: DDO..)

Now, of course you may call me a liar again..I am unsure...but, this is what I have witnessed, this is what others have confessed on these forums, and on the LOTRO forums, etc..all I know is I am not alone in this...accept that the game is mediocre to a lot of us..

Cheers

I only called you a liar when you told someone that if one were to play solo it would take an extremely long time as you had to kill mobs.. stop stretching what I said you know you lied about it plain and simple...

I feel that the game is most boring for the first 10 levels(on the first play through.. I can't stand the game after the first playthrough but the same goes for any other MMO for me).. the animation is not clunky but the style does take getting used to... the models are clay? You're right EQ2's models are clayish as well but atleast in LOTRO the detail on the armor looks amazing and is much higher res than both EQ2 and WoW.. as much as i like EQ2's graphics the world seems to go together like a fragmented puzzle

Dull combat? Sorry but LOTRO combat is the same as any other MMO just not as flashy with all the smoke and mirrors.. bad sound? Seriously? I'm not even going to argue that but my EAX says otherwise.. you might need a new hearing aid

Aggro isn't consistent? I don't think you know how aggro works then(in lotro taunts are only temporary) because raiding at endgame where aggro control is VERY important there is nothing inconsistant about it

I also wish the game was amazing and the best MMO on the market.. I think they only could've done that if they had classes and races on both sides of the war.. but who knows they have plenty of time to flesh out their game.. EQ2 took a while itself

The bottom line for me is that the meat of LOTRO is not for hardcore players (end game is of course) there are SO many players that play at their own pace and have fun with their friends in the process.. not people who count the quests they need for their next level.. its a much more casual atmosphere.. you and I would call that bland but the game isn't for me...yet

Other than LOTROs story, what good can you say about it? Honestly? Look at the classes and races that it offers for one thing, the classes are restricted to the lore of the game therefore there are ZEEEEEERO magic classes. The game is pretty group heavy (this can be a good or bad thing) and the PvP is dull (again this is due to lore restrictions)

It's a great game for people who play MMOs to enjoy the ride and not to get the coolest gear in the universe...

I agree.. no magic due to lore restrictions (other than lore masters who might aswell be a mage) is boring as hell. I am not one of those players who wanted to enjoy the ride, I think the game is extremely boring at the moment but unlike some people I enjoyed the game until 50 and didn't quit at 30.

As for races I couldn't care less about them in any MMO, they really shouldn't be counted as a feature in any MMO.. LOTRO have all the basic races... as it's the originating story for those races what do you expect?

Yes the PvMP is also dull for me since I do like an open world PvP system(WoW PvP is just as bad)

I asked you to list things to compare LOTRO to as EQ2 has been out for years and LOTRO has been out for 7 months and it is still growing. I am currently playing EQ2 as it is something fresh and new for me and the fact that it is aged appeals to me while I wait for LOTRO to go through the same process

and again.. this game is not group heavy until endgame

If thats what you really think then we already disagree as WoW isn't bad because it's popular.. WoW is bad because it's very boring and it appeals to new MMO players since it is a new genre to them and not because it is good

I beg to differ. Blizzard hit their target audience right on the spot with WoW, not to mention it's success in the development/stable environment. You can hate it all you want (I personally could never get passed 40), but it is good even if it is not for you.

What was their target audience?  People new to the genre that have heard of warcraft in one way or another? Casual gamers?  The majority of WoW players I encounter don't know anything outside of WoW.. they think it was the first MMO ever invented and any MMO created (even before WoWs time) copy's WoW.. Now is the player base any indication of the game? Of Course not but it shows who the game actually appeals to

Directly after launch I had the most fun as I was in the average level spectrum and the open PvP was just plain fun but once everyone and their mother (literally) hit 60 it went downhill from there.

I guess it's good enough for some people but as you may know 90% of the time your first MMO is the best MMO. (Asheron's Call was the best for me)

Can I keep my character?
Once you purchase Everquest II you will log into your account you registered your trial with and register the account key.  Make sure you use the SAME account you used for the trial (same login and password).  Once you have registered the full game you can continue playing where you left off.

You can continue by purchasing a retail box or Direct2Drive digital download or the Station Store.  Doesn't matter which way you buy.

Do I get 30 days free if I buy the game and keep my account?
Yes!

straight from SOE.. any questions?

Why is no one realizing that I did exactly the same thing the OP did and I got my 30 days? Not only that but straight from SOEs FAQ they said you DO get the full 30 days

Zorvan you are using the word account.. the game uses the word subscription not account and the fact is we don't have a subscription until we purchase the game

There is no open PvP in LOTRO it is Player vs Monster Player which is confined to the ettenmoors which is a huge battleground - coming from someone who loves open FFA PvP I can't say its very exciting in LOTRO
is there pvp in all areas or just certain areas?

Just the Ettenmoors (and soon a whole new area too)
Are the classes balenced?

I can't say much about balance as the PvMP is usually large groups against each other and usually the larger group wins
Is there alot of running to keep from losing titles like in EQ2?

I don't know what you mean by this
Is there a good amount of PvP or mostly PvE?

During peak times there are always tons of MPs and Players online going at it daily but not 24/7 as everyone wants to PvP only when there are people on

thanks

That is pretty idiotic... do you know what we're talking about here? Players who have played the 14 day RESTRICTED trial and have decided to buy the retail only to see that there is no 30 day trial for people who played the 14 day.. sorry but common sense tells me the 30 days is still possible for turning it into a real account.. there is no reason a 14 day trial restricted to a crappy island with only being able to talk to people directly around you should cancel out a full 30 days

That is some horse crap... play 14 restricted days now so that you don't get the full 30... wow I really don't like that rule

I was just about to install after buying it so it looks like I'll be opening up a different account instead of happily continuing on my trial I'm actually thinking of sending this back now... I never saw anything explaining this

To be fair though D&DO is not all that different, either is Tabula Rasa.. they both use the formula the OP is talking about

Not sure about D&L or mourning but I know shadowbane was a grind except the endgame was crazy for a while

This is the 2nd thread I've replied to you on(every thread huh? thats a stretch which is what you've been doing on every thread you reply to) ... and don't flatter yourself... when I have the overwhelming urge to correct someone when they lie has nothing to do with who the poster is.. you just seem to be the one person who acts as if they have had their first born eaten by LOTRO

It isn't my fault that you are already on every thread I read and are magically going off topic to lie about LOTRO... Are you being paid to do this? It really seems excessive at this point

In a thread about WoW or EQII you still manage to bring up LOTRO

You're obsessed with hating which would explain the half assed Cheers! you forcefully type at the end of every post - it's pathetic ... we know.. you really really don't like LOTRO ok? Feel better? I happen to think LOTRO and WoW are really boring but you don't see me posting about it on threads that are comparing 2 other games...  I think people are realizing that you hate the game a little TOO much so pull it back a bit will ya
