What an absolute joke of a patch.. this is what they've come up with after skipping last thursdays patch

the DT is broken the HoX has 2 feats that need to be fixed and instead they fixed a spelling error that has been in the game since closed beta

HoX.... the only downside is the amount of people playing them which happens to be.. a lot.. I thought I found the class no one picks instead I found the class everyone picks second to the ranger =X

anyway, it's a glass cannon class to be sure it balances out due to not have any ranged (outside of thrown weapons) and lacking in defense and HP

Try reading the point he was getting at not spewing rubbish out.  There's no risk vs reward atm nothing to attach you to PvP for any reason, couple that with an antiquated 8+ year old re-pop system and equally as antiquated zone in ganking and you have yourself a bad PvP system.  this exact system has been abandoned by just about every other MMO in existence for a reason in FFA PvP games because it's appauling.

but you carry on fanboing your guts out, i find it both amusing and pitiful.  Why can't fanboi's see that just because am IP is great the MMO of the same IP might just have mile deep holes in it.

There is risk vs reward, the risk is fighting over your hunting grounds, the reward is being able to hunt there

This system hasn't been abandoned by ANY MMO in existence.. just because your MMO experience is summed up in the word WoW does not mean you can create your own false facts.
You can't seem to grasp the idea of fighting to survive and is the same reason you need to stay in WoW. This system has only actually been done in UO and AC, there were PvE servers for people like you.. only those who went to the PvE servers didn't post on message boards complaining about how they can't hack it there and want to change it to fit their image.

People like you throw the word fanboy around too often.. many times in place of any real actual arguement - sorry that you are just now finding out what FFA PvP is.. most of us on the server are here because we know what it's about. there needs to be immunity after dying which there will be, there needs to be temp immunity during loading screens.. which there will be. Still tired of the gank squads? Stop being antisocial, get some friends and try again.

So far AOC has probably the worst PVP ruleset ever to grace MMO. Heck , it is even more primitive than Unreal Tournament  deathmach.

Griefer can camp respawn points , quest givers , quest points , loading points - get many sweet kills. And the worse thing players can do to punish you, is to kill you.

Short time after griefing , player is marked RED. Which means whoever kills him , can fully loot his body.

If this system could be implemented in AOC, it would quickly solve all the problems.

But i guess it is above FC programming skills

 

 

 

 

There is a penalty... guilds will form.. people will join said guilds for protection.. griefers will be called out and killed at hunting grounds and quest areas.... what more could you ask for other than looting? Full looting is a stupid idea.. partial looting would be ok except it would benefit the griefer.. the fact that you are even complaining about griefers when you don't lose anything to the in the first place is kind've odd

Get some friends or allies and put the griefers down .. your close minded response to these things are why you need to stay on a PvE server

"get many sweet kills" that doesn't benefit the killer other than making people pissed off enough to group up and deny hunting spots

I'm just curious mark, other than RvR what do YOU consider to be a good PvP system?  In my opinion the basic tools need to be given to the players.. I'm going to say this again - (this is in no way saying I don't think Funcom need to fix some things in PvP so we'll see) Asheron's Call was THE best PvP game I have played and it was completely unintentional by the devs.. they slowly realized what a gem they had and gave the PvP content some support to fix PvP bugs etc but they did not mess with the basic formula that made it great

AoC tries too hard with their rediculous minigames as a main attraction for PvP.. they need to get more involved in the world wide FFA PvP.. as it stands now you do not get any PvP experience when killing in the open world.. this could be because retail isn't live yet but I'm not sure.  I want to see guilds fighting for hunting spots.. fighting for questing spots and all of that.. (seems like it will happen this way)

multiple instances per zone WILL ruin this game for PvP if it turns out to be true...

This is not a small issue. It's not truly an MMO if it has instanced zones like that. Hell, I'm not even a fan of instanced raid dungeons.

AoC's PvP sounds like a fucking WoW clone of Alterac Valley. I'm tired of shit shyte too.

 

PVP IS NOT MEANT TO BE INSTANCED WITH PREDETERMINED NUMBERS!!

 

PvP is random, chaotic, not calculated, or fare. You should be at a disadvantage with skill or numbers or have the advantage.

 

That's the fucking problem with instanced zones.

I'm still going to be buying AoC though... FFA PvP servers are just too fun to pass up and like i said earlier, outside of controlled sieges or minigames there does not seem to be multiple instances in areas outside of tortage

I haven't seen any zoning outside of tortage, lack of a zone command also leads me to believe it is only instanced in the starter area.  If it IS proven to be instance in other areas this will ruin the game.. PvP with groups of people in different instances would be a terrible terrible thing

There is NOTHING wrong with the OP's question... the game shouldn't be sold in stores before the game goes officially live.

The benefit comes from those who got early access and don't feel like downloading the game.. even then selling a game before you can even play it is a retail no-no

Quake 3 WAS the next best thing.. how do you manage to know these games yet escape the reality of their popularity? Q3 was a hit with deathmatchers all over the earth which was their target market in the first place..
Do you have any idea how many games also used modified versions of the Quake 3 engine?

here is one hint: HALF-LIFE

Oh and please don't ever compare Quake to WoW, WoW was a dumbed down version of the MMOs before it which appealed to the lowest common denomonator.. Quake became popular because it's multiplayer was fast paced and exciting... the better players got at the game the more advanced the game became

The thing is the OP is kind've right... there is a certain sillyness to running int someone who is hiding in the middle of a raod in broad daylight...

When they announced everyone could stealth I was under the impression it would have limits so rediculous things like that would not occur..

For those of you saying to pour points into perception are missing the point.. no amount of points is going to reveal a stealthed mage waiting for you to get within range to stun and nuke you to death before you even see him.

It is beta and it needs to be addressed

The game would only be unready if they had no content after level 20, THEY DO.. it would also be unready if they had problems that they simply can't fix.. they DONT
