I was climbing all kinds of obstacles and finding shinnies in the most unlikely places. I love exploring. Finding goodies while doing it is a real bonus.

I'm in for sure. I was glued to the desk for 3 days straight. My wife had flashbacks of the all nighters I used to pull.

I'm expecting the religious beliefs of the developers to be attacked next.

I've been gaming since Half Life was released. My first MMO was EnB. I'm a picky, jaded gamer these days. I rarely finish games and I am highly critical of most. If anyone has been there and done that, it's me. I'm a burnt out PC elitist.

That being said, I had an awesome time with Beta 4! Even though the game rehashes much of what we've experienced over the years, it does it well. I was glued to the desk for 3 days straight and playing into the wee hours. It's not often a game can get me to do that. My wife had flash backs of me pulling all nighters back in the day.

Rift is comparable to other games but has its own personality. This personality makes it fun to play with and appealing to look at. I knew going in that it was going to be a rehash, so my expectations were low. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they managed to pull it all together.

This may not be a game you liked or expected to see. On the flip side, there are many more that got exactly what they wanted. I see nothing wrong with taking good ideas of the past and bringing them all together to deliver everything I love about the genre. They did it in top quality fashion and added a few twists of their own. It's content packed from the start, stable, a great base to work off of and the devs are well ahead of the game. They already have a year or more worth of ideas ready in the waiting. If those ideas bear fruit, players will feel like it's money well spent. It's what they want to see when subscribing. The devs also seem to want to listen to its greatest resource; its players. That right there means a lot to me in this day and age of console ports and quick buck rip-offs. I see potential where others may not. I'll invest in that.

Hit reply; not new thread, nub.

Easiest method? Contact Trion....drrrr

Well stated, arieste. Plain and simple. More than a few times, I had hub locked down and overrun. I'd get on chat and call for help. More than likely, there are many others needing that hub cleaned out as well. 5 or 10 minutes later, here comes the gang...30+ strong. Then it's on. More people come to join in this huge battle. It's over, you get some rewards and the hub is back to normal. I found myself waiting to turn in to follow the players on their trek to the next rampage. Lots of fun! Riftstalkers can even accelerate tears and bring down chaos in an instant. It was cool hanging with folks looking for tears to open up.

I dislike people like you. Had you even of bothered to spend 5 seconds reading the EULA you are required to accept in the closed beta, you'd see that you've agreed to a non disclosure agreement. Way to break that, tool.
Consider your video reported.

What the fuck are you on about? Their was no NDA on Beta4 AFAIK. I don't remember signing one. And why all the righteous anger about a supposed NDA break? Who cares?  I SO dislike people like you.
I bet you were the kid in school that always reminded the teacher about tests and forgotten assignments weren't you.

So, this was a simple task really, pretty lulll that you're incapable of reading. Go to riftgame.com > login to your account > when in look in the bottom right hand corner for "View EULA" (in which you had to agree upon to be in the beta). Once viewing this you will find at 2.2 this:                                                                                              "2.2 Confidentiality Obligation. Recipient shall keep the Confidential Information in confidence and shall not publish, disclose, or otherwise make available, directly or indirectly, any Confidential Information to any third party. However, Recipient may disclose the Confidential Information in accordance with a judicial or governmental order; provided, however, that Recipient shall give Trion reasonable written notice prior to disclosure and shall comply with any applicable protective order or equivalent. ONCE THE COMMERCIAL VERSION OF THE GAME HAS BEEN RELEASED BY TRION TO THE PUBLIC, RECIPIENT’S CONFIDENTIALITY OBLIGATION SHALL CONTINUE ONLY WITH RESPECT TO INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS BETA PROGRAM AND ALL FEEDBACK AND COMMENTS (WHETHER FROM RECIPIENT, ANY OTHER PARTICIPANT, OR FROM TRION EMPLOYEES)."       Reading is very fundamental.

Are you still going on about the NDA? It was lifted in December. There are more than a few posts about this in the Rift forum. A Staff member mentioned ignoring the NDA warning. It was tweeted as well....

http://twitter.com/Riftgame/statuses/17685259017519104

There's an article here mentioning the lift.....

http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/431/feature/4834

The closing message after this past weekend's beta was, now go tell all your friends and guildies. Funny how you insist everyone go and read. All YOU had to do is type 'NDA Lifted' in the Rift forum search box and saved yourself the embarrassment.

Flame bait. ^^

Agreed. The wait will be tough.

meh, i hear people are bored of Cata already. Thankfully Rift isnt WoW and the community is immeasurably better. NEXT

The Rift community was great this past weekend. I felt it was comparable to the Lotro community of yore on Brandywine (pre-f2p).

Both posts are valid in my opinion. This is what WAR should have been. And I love the fact that we are very versatile right from the start.

Also, by starting off 'small', they can cater to the needs of the player base as the need to grow comes about. There may be no need for some time. But we do know what happens when you try to take things away even if the removal is valid.

I don't understand why people keep complaining that this game is fun but becomes boring after repeating the same thing over and over. Isn't that what all mmo's are? Doing the same thing over and over for little or no results. At least with this game they give you a couple of options in what to rinse and repeat. I really do like this game and think that Trion really tried to put a game out there that is unique and fun. They may not have succeeded on all accounts but i think anyone that played this game should be able to see the effort. to simple imply that its best feature is that it works is retarded because that is not its best feature. I find the Rifts are a lot of fun and actually build a sense of community. Quest are linear which if you dont have a ton of time to play the game is nice.I have yet to do any dungeons. The pvp that i have done does seem like WoW BG's which is fine with me being that is what I mostly did in WoW anyways. The  artistry of the game is the best I have ever seen. Just a lot of great details IMO. Though i'm not a fan of the character graphics, kinda eq2ish.  I think anyone that enjoys MMo's should atleast try this game out for themselves and form their own opinion.

Actually your wrong here, you dont have a choice of what to repeat, let say for instance in WoW you role a Dwarf Paladin you go throught you the starting area and the leveling areas where you are. Now your tired with that but you still like dwarfs. But you want to go do the human starting quests and you want to be a warrior. Your going to have new quests becuase your in a starting area nad new quests because youe a warrior.
In rift in that scenarior nothing changes for you, you have to do the exact same quests and areas again.
And make no mistake those rifts get dull after the 20th time you have done them in about 2 hours. Rifts are far far to common.

AFAIK, they increased the occurance of rifts in B4. They ought to be more rare once the game releases.
Only altoholics need several starting areas, other start the game once and stick to the character. <- personal opinion

I have never met a single person my entire life who has ever only had one character in an RPG

Although we've never met, I'm one of those people. I raise my one toon to the max, play the hell out of him, enjoy the game for what it's worth and move on. One toon and one toon only. I just can not stand starting over. I'm the type of person that only plays a game once or only watches a movie once. I hate reruns to. We do exist.

i loved it too,
only thing bothered me was the animation weren't so fluid like WoW , i think they didn't use motion capture.
also the sound effects werent good or missing from characters, hopefully only in beta.
requires high end pc to play this game other wise playing on lower quality makes it look bad too, they will sure miss lots of customer because of this.
PvP is okay, there are two maps available one like warsong and the other arathi basin.que very fast as its cross realm.

You'd be surprised how many people I know with high end rigs that still turn the graphics down on multiplayer games, for example. Not everyone is into eye candy. I was able to run the game on ultra with an E8500 and a 4870. Far from high end. At least Trion provided plenty of options for graphics tweaking.

Talk about being dramatic! I'm as jaded as the next player but Rift was all out fun to play. The game is content rich right out of the gate, stable as hell and has enough variety to satisfy most players. Trion has an incredible base to work with. I think they are far ahead of the game and can get right down to tweaking and expanding from the start.

My god....

http://forums.riftgame.com/showthread.php?14574-%E2%80%9CEnter-the-Rift%E2%80%9D-Beta-Event-Set-for-December-28

LOL...he listed his specs for the hell of it.

As good as the video is, it doesn't do the game justice. Looks great on Ultra.

Great video!

Agreed. A quality MMO that's a ton of fun to play. I purposely plowed through content because I wanted to save the story/NPC chatter for launch.
