AoC is just exploding in sales. To what I've read, pre-orders are up to 800,000. Almost 1 million  subs in the first day of release. Now imagine how the game will expand? Call me a sceptic, but I truly believe this game is The One.

I hope you not serious and do not mean what you said, as i find it sad that people need a new game to be a WOW killer, let WOW be what it is, aprox 10mil enjoy it, why should it be killed ( oh and i aint playing WOW, left  2/3 years ago and only played it for near a year from beta/release)

 

But, like with every new game i do hope that the game will do well, but i never will hope one game will kill another game, as all games are enjoyed by diffferent people.

I have to agree. Why do people want to see the demise of WoW? Both games are what they are. It's as if they can't coexist and one or the other must be stopped. I enjoyed WoW then (a year ago) and I will enjoy AoC now.

Are some of you dense or what? If you post your spec's, then give a run down of how the game performed. Good or bad, it doesn't matter. We can care less what your rig has in it if you haven't played the game yet. And please don't post asking if your rig can run the game. If posters follow the pattern of listing spec's and then stating how the game ran, I'm sure your spec's will be covered in due time. This isn't a tech help thread. It's a spec/performance comparison.

A MMO is designed so you play with others.  Even Wow has lots of group quests that you cannot do solo.

 

  Probably because he feels like it! I get the feeling some people just don't get it, do they? An MMO is designed to be whatever you want it to be. Is this an alien concept for some? If it was meant to be played only with others, there would be no solo content at all to begin with. Now, an online FPS is designed that way. Where's the fun in running around shooting at the sky because no one is around. An MMO can be fun alone because of the live, persistent world where you get to choose when you interact with others or not. The choice alone makes it unique compared to other genres. You're not going to get that in any FPS or RPG now are you? Does the concept of running solo in a persistent world escape some of you? It is fun regardless of what some of you think that experience should be like. It's not up to you to determine how a game should be played by others.

Everybody loves to point out the "multiplayer" in MMORPG, but no one mentions the other letters - RP for Role Playing.

Maybe the OP wants to RP as a loner who specializes in adventuring solo because his character would never want to share his loot with others. Perhaps, his character wants to bring his loot back to the city where he can THEN interact with other players in the form of selling them loot and/or crafted items he has made from his gathered resources.

Remember, there are other "multiplayer" aspects of an MMO besides grouping for adventuring. People who choose to solo in the field often enjoy the social aspects of the game that do not involve combat.

This persons $15 is just as important as yours and he/she deserves an enriching gaming experience (albeit, different from yours) just as much as you do.

Having said all that, I would have to add that I have the best solo experiences with EQ2 and WoW.

 

I have to agree 100%. Teling someone how to play a game and spend their money is ridiculous! Answer the question or GTFO.

The 8800GTX was King along with the Ultra. Today, it makes no sense investing in a G80 core. The G92 core (GT and GTS) is more efficient and runs cooler. The GTS is regarded as a "GTX refresh" due to similar performance in most cases. The GT is a great bang for the buck card but suggesting an SLI setup is crazy. Not all games support it and the ones that do are still flaky at best. Unless you're running some uber resolution on some big ass TV, there is no point. It doesn't scale well at all if you're using a 22" monitor or below. A waste of money. You're better off one kick ass card and call it a day.

I vote for the GTS as best bang for the buck. If you insist on a GT, please make sure to get one that has an after market cooler on it. The stock, single slot cooler is garbage and dumps heat back into the case. If you add a cooler yourself, add that to the cost of the card. That's what makes the GTS attractive. Besides a performance advantage, it has the 2 slot cooler which does a fabulous job compared to the single slot solution.

If I was buying today, I'd get a 9800GTX and call it a day. The price can't be beat for a card we used to pay $500+ for. If $300 is pricey, the next best bet is a GTS G92 which can be had for less that $200 if you have no brand preference. NewEgg has the MSI versions for $180.

Leveled a 25 Sorcerer and was having a very difficult time grouping. I just killed the sub. I had a great time in the month that I played the game. Awesome game BTW! Just not worth all the begging for help.
