Well I'm not re-subbing. I got to level 43 as a Sith Juggernaut on the Vrook Lamar server, and it was a lot of fun..but just in the last week, I am getting kinda bored. I don't really blame the game though, I think it's just because I'm much older than I was when I first joined this site (almost 8 years ago!) and I really have lost much of my interest in MMORPG's. Also, since I was off during Christmas break, I played a LOT. That being said however, the game is not half as bad as all the doomsayer's would have you to believe. It was actually pretty fun, especially with RL friends and stuff. I love Bioware too so I hope the game is a huge success for them. |

Lineage 2: F2P and Goddess of Destruction Q&A

This is actually great news! I played this game a few montsh ago just to see how it was these days, and the graphics were actually awesome. With HDR and the other graphical updates the game does look amazing, environmentally speaking. |

Not just Skyrim, but Saint's Row the Third too! I won't be playing any MMO until TOR is released. And I feel th same way that you do about MMO's. I'm just sick of them. Oh sure, I'll play TOR when it comes out but I am keeping my expectations as low as possible. |

The Secret World: A Sit Down with The Secret World
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/27/11 2:27:25 AM
If you think that their cash shop won't have better skills or items in it, then go play AOC and look at their cash shop. For example, one of the things you can buy in the cash shop, if paying as a ranger, is an upgraded version of a skill called Deft Stabs. You CANNOT get this rank of that skill without buying it.
Honestly, this game looks cool but it IS going to be P2W and P2LookCool. |

WoW has box + sub + cash shop... why cant TSW? Whats the big deal?
General Discussion « The Secret World 9/29/11 5:04:56 AM
I'll tell you exactly why people are upset. Because they are having it at launch, which means that things that should have been in the game are now being moved to the cash shop. |

The Secret World's planned business model
General Discussion « The Secret World 9/29/11 5:02:19 AM
Ugh and I was kind of looking forward to this game, too. But what this means is that they will be taking things out of the game and making them only available with RL money. Oh sure, you will get some points every month for subbing, maybe 30 points or so, so getting that neat pair of pants that cost 400 points will only require you to be subbed for over a year! Woooo awesome! Seriously, this is a dumb move on their part and only the most die-hard fans will end up playing it now. I had to laugh when I was reading the forum for this game, people there are saying that this game will give SW:TOR competition.. That's pretty funny!

How does AoC's 'freemium' model compare to that of DDO, EQ2 and LotrO?

If they had allowed former players to have all classes unlocked, have some of the dungeons like Sanctum and Pyramid of the Ancients without paying for them, and raised the stupidly low 2 gold limit to something like, 15-20 gold, then I probably would have played the game and dumped some coin into it.
FWIW, I DID roll a new character on Deathwish to check it out, and the global chat had some of the most offensive chat I've seen in any game EVER. I vaugely remember what it was about but I rememeb the n-bomb being used frequently.
IMO you should pass on it, if you're a former player. You will be missing too many of the things that you used to sub for, and let's be honest, if you wanted to sub this game before, you already would have. |

@Toolfan and Catriona - Just curious, is this god mode hack responsible for the people that seem to auto-log out when close to death? I can't count how many times I would be attacking someone and then poof, they vanish. And it wasn't their totem either, because they literally disappeared when I was hitting them. Was just curious, because again it happened a lot..and no one can minimze their game and End Process that quickly! |

Originally posted by Catriona85 I have to agree with Catriona here, the red bar spiking HAS been around since day 1. Long before the background downloader was introduced. Which means that it's something that will NEVER go away. |

Originally posted by bongo123 Grats on your new laptop! As for the lag spikes, my guess would be that it's the background downloader that's plaguing you. Try opening your launcher and go to "Options" (or whatever it's called, its been a few months since I played) and on the left side, check off all the content to download. Mark them all and close your Options screen, and see if it starts downloading more files. I would guess that's probably why you're lagging a bunch. Unless you keep seeing your latency bar spike to red. In that case, it's just your ISP! /sarcasm |
|
Originally posted by Catriona85 Yep I remember those, good old red bar lag. That's something that has been around since the game came out, and for them to say it's our ISP is pretty laughable. Other than the red bars, you sometimes get a massive "freeze", where your screen becomes completely frozen and you end up 100m away from where you were when it started. Always loved those too. But I'm sure that according to Funcom, that's just my hardware...my Maximus Formula, QX9650 Extreme CPU, 8 gigs of RAM and eVGA GTX470. |

So, SE decided to release an unfinished game.
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 9/08/10 12:57:12 AM
I have no real problems with the game, but let's be honest people - this IS the game that will we will see at launch. I remember all those Aion betas, where we could play for 3-4 days at a time and then have to wait weeks before playing again. That beta was restricted (level cap) and was the EXACT same game that we had at release. People said the same thing then, "This isn't the whole game" "It's only a beta" etc.
I'm not saying that this is necesarily a bad thing (the game never crashed on me or anything) but stop pretending that there is some miracle path that will happen on release day. |

The game looks great visually, the animations are very well done, but the horribly laggy mouse and overall crap interface have totally killed any desire for me to play it. Plus I don't like a game dictating how much I can progress in the class that I want to play, but let's not get into THAT here.
Whoever plays though, have fun! I hope they fix that mouse issue soon for you. |

So wheres the thread on Arizona's "Show me your papers" law?
Religion & Politics « General Discussion 5/03/10 5:49:36 AM
Originally posted by xpowderx Sarah Palin just called, she wants you to apologize for using the R word. But seriously, you are one to talk about accusing people of throwing out things that they don't understand. Not you personally, but your party. Calling us Socialists, Marxists, Fascists (sometimes, all three at once!) and calling Obama the same. Classic example - the elderly man at a Tea Party rally who had a sign that read, and I quote "Keep your government hands off of my Medicare." Anyways, my opinion on the Arizona Law actually leans towards what the Conservatives think about it. Something NEEDS to be done in Arizona, the crime rate there is breaking 10%. However, this approach could have disastrous results. Police are going to harass a U.S. citizen, and they're going to be sued. It's inevitable. What really needs to be done (and most of my Conservative friends agree with me on this) is to bring some of our troops home (preferably, the 30,000 or so stationed in stupid places like Germany and Japan) and have them actually GUARD our borders. Don't deal with illegal immigrants while they're here, get them while they're COMING here. |

This game is sooo wicked and its only in "beta"
General Discussion « Mortal Online 4/04/10 4:14:53 AM
I'll give my opinion of the "alpha." Yeah, I said it.
Clunky as hell. It feels like you weigh 1000 pounds with the way that you move. SLOW. Lumbering.
I logged in the first time, ran around a bit..graphics looked okay all maxed out. Went to the help menu and was reading about the game and how to do stuff. Hit a key to use mouse lock (z key I think? can't remember) and clicked on an option at the top. Clicked the Z key again and the game totally froze. I mean it hard locked, with green and white fuzzies all over the place. NO it wasn't my computer or anything, no overheating. Just a crappy programming job I guess. I can play Mass Effect 2 for HOURS, minimize the game for 4 hours and come back and play with no crashes. Not a single one.
The animations looked, IMO, absolutely horrible.
The character models, again IMO, looked absolutely horrible.
The sound..uhh..sounded, absolutely horrible. The music was ehh okay, the sound of unsheathing your weapon was okay. The other few sounds I heard really sucked badly though.
I knew a kid in high school once, he weighed about 300 piunds, and even that fat tub of lard could jump higher than your character can in this game.
I think I'll stop here. Sorry, but this game is another Dark and Light. IE - a total ripoff and wouldn't surprise me if they start scamming people's credit card numbers, double charging them, etc. Again, this is all my opinion.
