The AoC player sits in the bar alone. The only problem is, he or she is in an instance of the bar where no one else ever comes in....

VG is an EQ like.

Wow is a copy of EQ. EQ for newbies. For beginners if you prefer.

You start with wow, then you play Lotro, after that, you can start big MMOS : DAOC, Eve, VG etc. (UO AO ...)

never subs because:

easy to explain: preordered the CE (yeah the Collector Edition of AOC so i 'm not a hater I think)

then i 've been in the Beta and discovered the state of the game and most of all the gameplay (can bear the bugs, can wait etc but the gameplay can 't be changed)

SO canceled my preorder. That's all.
Won't play this game because of lot of things: heavily instanced, invisible walls, decapitation isnt' enough for a MMO ok ? Canceled because of the poor IA of the mobs, etc etc etc. Quest boring, nothing more than Wow's BG....

Even Wow is better. Can't bear capture of the flag sorry of the crane, paste copy from Wow but a bad and boring copy. High end pvp = paste copy from Alterac)

Prefer EQ2 to this poor copy, Antonica is more interesting than CL 2 called Wild Lands. (common Lands EQ2 =  Wild lands AOC)

This war AOC against VG becomes boring. But imo both games have nice graphics.

My problem with AOC: full instanced, heavily instanced and if you 're in OT you discover it's only a "cinecitta city" : few houses opened, few places, full of invisible walls.. (yeah tried to explore AOC and it's Impossible) I tried tried but even in EQ2 felt free. In AOC, there 's nothing else to do than quest quest quest again + PK at respawn point (that's FC calls PVP )  And for the end game you'll have to take a ticket and wait for going to battle... for 2H with max 96 players (if AOC' s engine and serv can do that... nobody knows...)

BG are not interesting at all even Wow's BG are better !

The pb of AOC is : most of areas are "false"<

False because you can't go there, you can't swim more than 10 ms, etc etc etc. : nice pictures but liberty 0, immersion 0.

And you can't imagine this before trying the game: when you look at screens you say WAOOO what a huge world, what an incredible world, its the adventure the world of conan himself . Then you start to play and... It-'s the disaster.

You see a coast, (or only the other side of the SAME city LOL)  looks great, you're happy to discover conan's world so you start (dreaming) swimming etc then BAOUM invisible wall..  you think it's a bug so you try from another side... BAOUM another IW...

So you decide to discover the world maybe another city ? I take a boat ? I take a horse ?

AOC = jump (teleport, welcome to Star Trek) from 1 point to another and most of time there's  NOTHING between point A and point B.

Aoc's pbs aren't bugs, or graphics but gameplay and instance.

Even Zelata/wild lands are small. You can't trust me ? I don't care. Wow, lotro, Eq2 are better than this over over over hyped game.  Nothing to do, nothing to discover, nothing to explore, no liberty no choice. And yeah, VG 's graphics are better of course but that's not a problem. Pb is = what you see is not real. You see something you can't go  you can't pass etc. I hope future of mmo won't be aoc like or it's a disaster for players (but a lot of money for Cies).

I just returned and this game is light years ahead of where it was just 6 - 8 months ago. It's like a whole new game. I am as non-vanboi as anyone ever could have been, and yet I am totally thrilled with the game now. The community on Saredon is one of the best I've seen in 12 years of playing mmorpgs.

Mark your words you're not a fanboy, you said you'll never try it again. But now VG works, that 's all.

Thought i'll never come back too. Couldn't have fun with VG before, too many CTD, bugs and hitching...

No i can put all settings to high (15FPS all max) with an 1650 xp ati payed omg maybe 40€

Lotro and VG are the best ones FTM.

- you can discover all areas all houses all castles, there's a lot of cities (impressive !!!) villages etc etc, take your boat, a griffon a wyvern and discover telon by the air, by the see, with a horse, or swim...

In VG you see something : mean a castle a house a moutain etc etc etc etc you can go and explore. I explore everything in VG and it's really nice. Each house each thing and sometimes, you'll discover a quest hidden in a lost castle, ruin or old house.

See and Explore.

VG has been saved by SOE. They worked hard 1 year only to save VG. Imo they saved it.

Tried to play VG many times since 2007 (stopped VG many times)

- release: a DISASTER.

- 3 months after... same

- june 2007: not really fun. Couldn't ctrl my necro's pet, a lot of CTD

- september: not really fun

- then came the GU3: the 1srt big improvement of the game. Played and had fun with VG for the 1srt time for christmas. Event has been fun too Much better than Lotro's ridiculous and poor events

Really cool and fun

- then the GU4 and GU5.

Now i play VG.

SOE gave me 60 days of free subs to EQ2.
I can play EQ2 60 months without paying a $

But i took another month to VG.
that"s all . EQ2 is nice and polished but seems very small when i think about VG. VG is impressive. Imo.

VG is my main MMO ( laptop), EQ2 is actually my reroll MMO   (notebook)

I'm sure i won't take a sub in september for EQ2.
Projects for 2009: probably War + VG.

And a 8800 GTX.

VG is sleeping and waiting for new players. It only needs one more patch (anti hitching code) + a trial.

GM are cool in VG: yesterday they changed suddently chars in Chicken lol, for 10 min. Was in a dungeon and LOL played with a CHICKEN NECRO. Finished the quest ;)

Try it before buying.

I'll never say to someone to buy a mmo. If it s working fine on YOUR computer + you like this game, buy it (suggest to take a CE, you 'll find one for 25€ /30$. Artbook and music are really great)

But before, TRY IT.
(I have no more keys i'm sorry . or maybe u could wait for trial) Never buy a game if you haven't try it before. Never.

Before AOC's beta testing thought it was the best MMO on the market, kind of DAOC + Shadowbane. Arg i'ts not at all.

For ex;Wild Lands aren't huge

they only seems to be ... : you won't need a horse in this game.

Khemi  ? invisible walls everywhere, same for OT, 1/2/3 streets, nothing to discover. Don't even think about  Connall's Valley

Tortage is one of the best places of the game.

The thing with AoC is, bugs aren't the issue.  People understand the bugs.  The problem with AoC is the content as the OP points out several times.

/Agree. FC can fix all the bugs, but can't change the game.

If you 're looking for a pure and great MMORPG, try AO not AOC, or wait for rewamp of AO. Gonna be GREAT for sure. 

1° this game needs more improvements but SOE is making  a good job

2° vg needs more players: let"s wait now for a trial.

jan 2007: piece of crap

juil 2008: good game and you can get it for few bucks.

 Game works better since GU5 : now can say i'm playing VG not beta testing vg. (stopped 3 maybe 4 months the game because was bored by the hitching etc. Came back for GU5, now can say i 'm a fan - not a fanboy: this game needs more and more improvvements, new patches, addons etc and it's my favorite game NOW.)

All mmorpgs needs time: aoc needs time too. If people cant' understand, they have to change their mind or stop the MMOS.

Hope this wont be the same piece of crap than these Eq2 and SWG trials. (EQ2 isle and Swg station OMG )
