Well they did write it completely out of Java, so I'll give them that. *points to quote*

The reason why RS is such a popular game is because unlike most MMORPGs like WoW, you don't always have to be running around doing something. Runescape is like a massively expanded chat room. and people enjoy being able to talk with friends, and they can play the game while doing so.
If it was a single player game, it would die within a matter of weeks, because no one can stand hours of skill leveling without interacting with another player. Likewise, if people just wanted to chat they would talk to their friends via MSN, or join a chatroom where they can have interesting conversations with new people.
Even if the blokes at Jagex towers did decide to make a console version of RS, I am quite sure it wouldn't be an exact replica of the online version. Besides, saying something and actually doing it are two completely different things.

We know this isn't the first time a game gets an update that supports clans/guilds by giving them their own chat channel, but this is something everyone that plays RS has been praying for.
I'm not sure which game was the first to have such an update, but the idea isn't copyrighted, seeing as everyone has had this idea long before it was introduced into any MMORPG, some just beat others into adding it into their own game.

I'm really excited about Planeshift, but I'm not sure if it is better to wait until its status is final; to download and play it or not.
Many people here are saying that the game is still very much in its beginnings and that there's really nothing much to do ingame. Is this true?
I'm highly anticipating this game and I would like to try it out as soon as possible but I'm not sure I can. What do you guys think?

World of Warcraft is not worth 15$ a month if you have a social life.
It's just too expensive for a game ment to be played in your spare time. And you sometimes have to pay additional fees to download extra patches. You mean our 50 bucks and the monthly fee doesn't actually include a finished product?

Give another game a shot if you want, but I suggest taking a break from RS for a couple of months then coming back. You won't believe how much you've missed playing, and you'll never find yourself running out of fun things to do.

I agree, the clan chat is by far one of the best updates I have ever been present for!
It really brought people together. Now, it is impossible to be bored ingame, even if you're playing at an unusual hour (for some random reason) you can just join a clan chat owned by one of the RS fansites and engage in pleasant conversations.
It even got a couple of retired people from my clan to start playing actively again.
Jagex had a good idea for once!

I admit, Runescape's graphics aren't the best, but they did write it completely out of Java, so I'l give them that. Those are some pretty good graphics for something made using that script.
And Runescape's quests are the best in any MMORPG I have played to date.

Also there are many other things to do apart constant fighting, something many online games do not have.

I play RS and I quite enjoy it.
I'm also one of the (few) nice players ingame, always willing to drop whatever I'm doing to help others and guide unexperienced players.
Also, if you are looking for a RS clan to join, I suggest the Paladins of Guthix clan.
I've been in this clan for several months now, and the people are great, very friendly and welcoming, and we value intelligence and maturity over having clicked enough times to get high stats. (But that doesn't mean we're all "noobs", since the majority of the clan is coincidentally high leveled)

I still play RS, and in my opinion, it is a great game, and only an idiot would judge a game soley on its graphics.

True, the F2P version on RS is full of macroers and annoying pre-teens, but it's not all that bad. If you go to the P2P version, you'll see that (most of) the players there are actually quite nice and pleasant to be around.

After all, no game is perfect.
