Whats with all the circle strafing ?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 10/07/08 9:41:55 AM
I play an IB and whenever someone tries to circle strafe me I just pop my moral ability that holds them in place for 10 seconds - cracks me up every time I see them panicking and just spinning around in circles. |

LOL, too true my friend, too true :D |

Eh? I don't know what you both saw when you read Pheace's post but all I saw was an accurate description of the situation! |

I can guarantee you that right now Blizzard has a team of people playing WAR and reporting back with detailed analyses on what's good and what's not. The big wigs will then use this data to try and make WoW better in these areas. Whether they pull it off or not is the key. A bit of healthy competition never harmed anyone and it's this competition that has made the MMORPG industry what it is today. There's no way WAR would be what it is if it hadn't been influenced by WoW in some way. Blizzard trying to implement these great game mechanics into their game will only strive WAR to become bigger and better than it already is. But then of course this works both ways, it's the perfect synergy. |

Very well said - the only thing that remains is who implements said feature better. I only had two gripes with WoW - one was the lack of RvR, the other was the grind to get decent gear. If they can solve the RvR issue, great, that's a step in the right direction. But I don't see them removing the casual gamer killing grind to get that all important PvP gear any time soon. |

You know you could be onto something. Since the games release it must have patched and downloaded a new EXE about 10 times. And this could certainly cause havoc with some firewalls if they're detecting a change, blocking the connection but not reporting or giving the user a chance to update permissions. What firewall are you people using? |

Are you concerned about Destruction owning scenarios?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 9/19/08 8:19:25 PM
During the early days of head start it was an issue, but now that people are spreading out across the realms I've found them to be fairly even. We win some, we lose some. But all in all it entirely depends on teamwork. When everyone spreads out like muppets we get owned. When we stick together we kick ass - as it should be. |

Renown gear seller not selling anymore?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 9/19/08 11:02:16 AM
I had no idea you had to control the keep, thanks. So does anyone fancy taking it back for me? |
|

Well Empire is by far the most popular. Then I'd say it's even between the Dwarfs and Elves. As for the least played class - polls would suggest the White Lion. A very powerful and solid class, but not for those who don't enjoy pet classes. |

So are you people who are able to play better on NA servers going to be playing there gone launch? Personally even if my connection was better to NA I'd stick with EU because of the time difference - and in the hope that things would improve! :) |

Your wrong. This has more to do about combat than the aspects of global pvp in the game. Its only in a game with true open world pvp where the freedom is given to the players to fight for any objective or anyone we got a sandbox pvp game. This game got allredy set objectivs, the variables is much less and the reward is allredy at a vendor to be bought. In a open pvp world the reward could be whatever of many objectives you choose to fight for, objectives made by your allies to reach your own set goal. Here the goal is to advance in rvr rank which will award you new items. The only variable here is sucess or failiur, skill or no skill and rank of items. The open world pvp is restricted to certin zones here which adds towards the carebear layout that has been flurishing latly. Sc will soon be as grindish as wow BG, there is not much diffrent in the objectives of these two, only thing diffrent is classes and layout of combat in this game.
Yes it may become grindish doing the same objective over and over again - but RvR gameplay liniar? Never. There are many ways to customize your classes gameplay through ability's, tactics, morale...and everybody plays differently. |

The linear aspects only apply to PVE. They are virtually non-existent in RvR. I must have done at least 100 scenarios during the OB and not one was ever the same. Different team make-ups, different levels of skill, different tactics - the list goes on. RvR in WAR is one of the most dynamic and diverse aspects I've ever seen in an MMO - I'm truly loving it.

One reason for EU not to play NA

One reason for EU not to play NA
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 9/13/08 10:08:52 AM
I started off playing the NA open beta because GOA still hadn't pulled their finger out. I switched over to the EU beta a couple of days ago.
One thing that was very prominent when playing NA was a very irritating laggy stutter. First I thought it could be my graphics settings, so I toned those down. But after switching back and forth between the two, it became apparent that these stutters were regional. EU played virtually stutter free, NA was irritatingly stuttering all over the place. It had a definite effect on using ability's during RvR. I thought it was just bad coding and it may well be. But the truth of the matter is that at present if you want to play NA because you're fed up with GOA's incompetence, be prepared to embrace the stuttering! |
