Star Wars: The Old Republic: Trooper Progression!
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/29/11 5:15:27 PM
While the combat does look a little dull, it has not detered me from wanting to play the game. Although I had never really considered playing a Trooper, this video certainly perks my interest. I might give this class a try... after my Inquisitor that is. |

Blizzard: "Cross-realm Real ID party system will be premium-based"
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 5/18/11 1:18:13 PM
Originally posted by generals3 I understand what you're saying, but I find it highly unlikely that people would spend hard earned cash just to transfer with a guild. Not saying it doesn't happen, just far less than what you might think, but I will go out on a limb and say that the reasons for server transfers are far more related to real life friends than random guildies.
Dead servers I can understand as well, but WoW has become a lobby game, so does it really matter? Last I played - in January - The game had turned into a "Que for dungeons - sit in town and wait."
I am not trying to justify their acitons, as a consumer I hate the idea and all it really does is prove that Blizzard wants to put their hands in our bank accounts. I am just trying to point out the most likely reason behind Blizzard charging a premium for the service.
If the grouping service were free, people would say, "I am not going to spend 20$ on a server transfer, since the grouping service is the next best thing and its FREE!." |

Blizzard: "Cross-realm Real ID party system will be premium-based"
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 5/18/11 2:41:45 AM
I can understand why people are upset over "premium services" etc., from a p2p game... but...
Blizzard's pay-for server transfers option will become almost null and void.
This is Blizzards way of trying to make their server transfer options still exist.
If playing with friends cross-server were "free", why pay for a server transfer? |

Predict 65% sith 35% jedi players
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 5/16/11 11:49:19 PM
I WANT to be a Miraluka Inquisitor... but it can't happen. (I think?)
So I guess i'm forced to go with a Zabrak or Rattataki... assuming either of them can be an inquisitor. |

Maybe it's just me, but I feel there are way to many rifts and invasions going on at once. They need to nerf the spawn rate of rifts, increase the difficulty of them, and increase the reward substantially. This would make rifts stand out and would entice people to actually WANT to do them later on in levels. They lose their fluff way too early. |

So, after (maybe) seeing the SW jedi vid and playing Rift, how is the proclaimed 'great' year of MMORPGs looking to you so far?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/15/11 12:33:18 PM
Maybe this is off-topic but the guy who was playing the game in 'that vid', made me hate it.
Its players like that who make me love pvp. When I see players like that, its a free kill. A monkey smashing a keyboard and throwing poo around the room could have done a better job.
I understand the game is still in beta/alpha/whatever, but that still doesn't make up for the lack of intelligence and gameplay by the individual.
Not ALL of the gameplay from video games is the video games fault. You get from the game what you put in. Believe it or not, you can actually make a game more fun without doing anything to the game. |

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: What made old skool MMO's harder than modern day MMO's.

What made old skool MMO's harder than modern day MMO's.
Go play EQ classic, say, Project 1999. Role up a Rogue or a Wizard. Start from scratch and never accept anything from anyone. There is your "harder" old skool.
Next question, make it faster. |

All Points Bulletin: Prepping for Open Beta
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/21/11 10:57:06 AM
As much as people complained about the original APB, I thought it was quite entertaining.
Yes, it had its fair share of hackers, but it always brought a smile to my face when I would smoke one.
One of the funnest times I had was smashing in store-fronts and grabbing all the loot with a few friends. Good times. |

I played Allods up to about level 30 and then stopped because of the constant ganking.
I enjoy pvp as much as the next guy, but when someone only has a 1 level difference and they can destroy you, makes this game fail - Hard.
Doesn't matter how good you are, if they out level you, at all (even 1 level), they will kill you in a matter of seconds and there really isn't anything you can do about it. Its ridiculous. |

The video had no music or anything... so since it was in fast foward, I played the Benny Hill theme music. It makes the video so much better.

So I have not played WoW for quite awhile, in fact I hit 85 before the new year and did almost everything I could (aside from raiding) and I canceled my account, so... I am very amused at seeing these emails from "Blizzard" saying that I have been caught trying to sell my account or emails saying I have tried to log in too many times, etc.
So I started to get curious about where these emails are coming from and I am starting to make a list of the countries.
If you right click the email and "view message source", it will actually give you an IP from where the email came from. You can then look up the address from where the email came from by using the IP.
So far I have looked up almost 20 of these email IPs and have found 99% of them coming from Korea and China and I got one today from... wait for it... CROATIA. I was like... wtf?

So... if anyone is ever curious about the email being authentic, just right click the email (do not open it, you can right click it from your inbox) click on "view message source" and about 10 lines down it will give you an IP, copy the IP, go to a website to look up IPs, and view which country it came from.
I find it amusing, its almost like a game! =D

World of Warcraft: GDC 2011 - Cataclysm Post Mortem
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/09/11 7:36:15 AM
Originally posted by retrospectic I understand where you are coming from, but you can always have 5man stuff seem epic on their own. I never understood the need to force players into such a large group to aquire better gear. I have always had 10x the amount of fun doing a 5 man dungeon with people I actually know than having to sit through 4 hours of grueling torture wiping continually because of the 25 people in the raid, only 5 of them actually know what they are doing. The only thing that makes a raid "hard-core" is the gear. I wouldn't mind epic fights for 5 man stuff. Hell, some people would rather raid 25man because it's easier to f*ck off and not care and still suceed. 5man is only casual because that is how Blizzard has made it, not because it HAS to be. |

My experience with quitting MMOs indefinitely, and why I'm back now.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/06/11 3:51:48 PM
This is an interesting point of view.
While I may not have been in your boat, I have taken my own time away from MMO's and instead of playing 24/7 to keep up with other people/players, I play at my own pace when and if I want to play. I find I enjoy the games much more now than ever before.
Kudos to you! |
