The one game you have bought that is worth it!

I agree with the "Chrono Trigger' persons, although if this thread is about PC games, I would say... Mount and Blade: Warband.
If we are still talking about console games though, yea, Chrono Trigger, Shining Force I & II, and Final Fantasy Tactics. |

Also, for myself, $150 is not a lot of money. It's certainly not a fortune. I see it as an investment since I can guarantee that I will play the game for 3-6 months (even if it sucks). Every game I have ever purchased, I play to the end, even if I find that I hate the game. I spent the money on it, so i'm going to get my moneys worth. |

General: XXX: Girl Gamers Go Wild
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 7/16/11 2:24:50 AM
I tend to avoid the female gamers - they tend to be the worst players and then they bitch at you when you point out things they could do to fix the problem. Drama central. I would rather play with a bunch of immature men - at least we get the job done and no one cries about it. Just sayin'.

If you had 300 days to live what mmo would you play?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/12/11 1:14:46 PM
Realistically... I wouldn't play any MMO's if I only had 30 days to live.. but since this is hypothetical...
I would say, Everquest 1.
It popped my MMO cherry, so it holds a special place in my heart. |

But, I am truly happy that I did not have to blow 15$.
I am not sure about the 7 free days thing, as I have literally not played in almost a year. I seem to remember something about 7 free days for having an account with 6 months or more of inactivity. I could be wrong though, as I do not remember where I heard that statement from. |

So i've been getting that itch again. I'm sure many of you know exactly what I mean. Yup, that itch that says "Every game that I try is dull to me - Maybe I should go back to WoW?" So I debate and debate and debate...
Finally, I log into the website and find that I have 7 days free time to claim! WOOOO! Happy days! Joyous wonderment of rainbows and lollipops!
So, I activate my account and I log in and "play" for about 2 hours and find out that it's still the same game that I left about a year ago, if not worse.
Thank you Blizzard for the 7 days of free game time - Thank you for saving me a 15$ subscription to find out that your game is still the same steaming pile of buzzard dung that is has been since Cata came out.
I am sincere here. Thank you, Blizzard, for saving me 15$. |

I've played Eden Eternal up to about lvl 37 or 38, you eventually run out of quests and have to do repeatable quests that give crap for exp. Not to say there are not more quests, but they only get you about 1/4th the way through each level and you have to grind beyond there.
The dungeons are actually kinda fun and I find it refreshing that most dungeons are 3man and a few harder dungeons are 5man. The rewards are actually good too. The boss fights are nothing special, but each boss has a "break point".
Break points add a little something to the game, since everyone can be every class. Break points are basically a weakness. If the boss has a weakness to say, lightning, have someone use lightning attacks over and over until it breaks. When they break, they stunned briefly, but the point is that they have an increased chance of dropping better loot.
Other than that, the game is really nothing very special. It has crafting, but generally by the time you get your stuff crafted, you have out leveled it and can find better from dungeons or random drops.
I give it a 5/10 over all and i've played about 80% of the MMO's on the market.
Conclusion: Try it if you are bored, it might be entertaining for awhile, especially if you have a friend or two, since several dungeons are only 3 man. Other than that, it's not worth your time, there are other/better MMO's out there. |

I'm going to get a lot of flak for this, but I really enjoyed "The Force Unleashed".
I know i'm going to hear a lot of "The force isn't like that" or "it doesn't follow story" or "lore blahblahblah", but you know what? I don't care.
I wanted a game where I went around using the force in extreme ways to demolish everything around me, and "The Force Unleashed" did exactly that and I enjoyed myself. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Do You Really Want a Beta Invite?
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 6/29/11 8:15:17 AM
I sincerely want a beta invite. I have been around the mmo block a few times, and then some. When I test a game, I give actual/usable feedback, unlike what I assume the majority of testers do - mess around for awhile and quit or play hardcore but never actually give any feedback.
Why do so many games launch in such a poor state? Is it the lack of testers feedback or is the lack of gumption from developers? I would like to think its the testers' faults, but I guess I could be wrong. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Arenas and Dungeon Finder?
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 6/29/11 1:32:49 AM
^ This right here. I remember running a Tank/Healer combo with my friend for hours at a time. We were on just about everyone's friends list and eventually were bombarded with people asking for invites everytime we logged on. People behaved and did as we asked, or we kicked them out. Problem is we rarely ever had to kick anyone since we kicked so much butt, many people were amazed that instances could be done so quickly and efficiently. People were actually grateful and understanding. |
