Not sure if this has been announced yet on, but here it is.

Not sure if anyone cares.

I do! I'll get some nostalgia in for awhile.

Really? WoW Clone? Did anyone every think of how stupid that is? WoW was not the first to do the 'typical' mmorpg layout. There were a few games that were successful that came before it., aka Everquest for example. Man people are so dumb.

You are correct HofmeisterM, but you need to take into account that many players started their gaming experience with WoW and can only reference gaming mechanics by what they have used/played - hence the abundant "WoW Clone" comments.

You need to be nicer to these uneducated players.

What is a 'rage timer'?

A Rager Timer is an implemented time after initiation of combat in which the mob you are fighting "goes berserk" or something to that effect and basically increases its damage so much that nothing can survive (typically). This kills everyone who engaged into combat with said mob, ending any chances of every being able to kill said mob.

Basically, you engage the mob and you have X amount of time to kill said mob before it goes Rage mode and kills everyone.

Many developers these days are using this as a way to prevent players from finding ways to kill tough creatures with a low number of players, or even sometimes, solo.

This forces players into sitting around for lengthy periods of time trying to find other players to help with a "raid".

Especially in this case, where the mob is only level 18 and it is hard enough to find 4 people to group together, much less an entire raid of players willing to smash buttons for 5 minutes.

Rage timers could be useful in someways, like a scenario where the area you're fighting the boss is falling apart, and you have to defeat the boss in time in order to escape.

But having rage timers on 80% of the bosses is kind of overkill.  It's like the crutch developers use when they can't think of anything interesting for boss fight mechanics.

This is a video of why I prefer to not have rage timers, if there were rage timers in this game, then footage like that would never exist. Honestly if anyone solo's a boss that takes 8 players to kill, then they deserve to be rewarded for their efforts and ingenuity, not punished.

Thank you Moose!

Finally someone who seems my point of view.

I'm not saying Rage Timers should not exist, but if they do, at least have a reason behind it, other than "You havn't done enough damage yet - now you die."

Far too many mobs have Rage Timers these days and it is rather irritating.

There are games, I believe Vanguard is one, and EQ2 is another (I think) - If the mob you are fighting is far below your level, then the mob does not drop the best items it can - which makes sense in an "anti-farming" view.

In the example I gave for SWTOR - We were only trying to get the achievement for that planet - we were already 4 levels above the mob - it wasn't going to give us anything we wanted.

And not that it matters - but we tried to recruit others to come help out, but everyone is stuck in their "Me against the world" ideals while grinding their way to level 50.

muffins ftw!!! lol what a QQ post... yes we need them for progression reasons.. think back to the early wow days.. without a person suitably geared there would be no point of gear grinding and all that jazz that we came acustom to for serveral years.. no one would raid then or do instances everyone would skip content to go to end game... yes there annoying at times it just means your raid isn't doing the strat to the boss right or ya undergeared.. there lies the points of them really. otherwise you'd have undergeared people in end game content.. taking forever to finish boring for games imo

Or maybe they should fix their failed design of class skills/abilities?

"I have an undergeared class that when played properly, can heal forever. They should make mobs Rage instead of changing how classes are played."

Edit: Also - Whats the problem if a small group would rather spend 20 minutes fighting a mob than a large group spending 5 minutes? Who cares about end game content - did you not even read my example? A lvl 18 raid boss is hardly end game.

I might have a different outlook here than the populous, but I hate Rage Timers. It makes me want to stab someone in the jugular.

What is the purpose behind it? If someone wants to kill something and they can, why would you restrict it by having a Rage Timer?

I can understand if a fight is to be completed in X time. Lets say you have to beat the boss before the princess gets put into the lava by the rope lowering her down. Okay - that would make sense. But just to have a Rage Timer to prevent innovative/bored/skilled players from killing something? That just doesn't seem right.

Anyone have a constructive opinion on this?

For or against, don't matter.

Example: My friend and I are playing SWTOR: We were level 22 at the time and we decided to head back to Drommund Kaas to take on the lvl 18 Raid Boss. Just to see if we could do it. We failed at lvl 19, he just hit too hard to keep up on heals. Here we are, 22 and we engage the mob - about... I don't know... 5+ minutes into the fight, Rage Timer hits and kills us both. So irritating.

Honestly ! Who would actually pay 15 a month for this???

I actually love Turn Based Strategy games and Wakfu does not dissapoint. I played for about as long as I could, but after spending almost a month without seeing another person, I got tired of playing by myself.

Dear **********,

Thank you for sharing your time in Neo Steam and steampunking it up with us for the past two years. We take pride in being in the first Atlus Online title and the last-standing Neo Steam server in the world. It's with deep regret that we must now announce:

Atlus Online will shut down its Neo Steam service on February 8, 2012.

Starting today, you and all your friends will be granted the benefits from all previously run server events in the upcoming months of December and January. That means more EXP, more TP, no death penalties, increased drop rates, unlimited Neo Steam, the works! We will hold nothing back in delivering the best Neo Steam has to offer.

If you still have Neo Steam Gears, you will have access to the Premium Item Shop until January 4, 2012. All unused Gears will revert back to Atlus Crowns, ready for use with all current-and yet-to-be-announced-games.

Citizen of Chrysalis, thank you for your support. Let's celebrate together and go out with a bang!

Respectfully Yours,

Atlus Online

This is part of the Bounty Hunter story line:

1) You almost knock a man out with a pistol whip...

2) You step on his back as he is trying to get back up...

3) You pull out a knife...

4) The screen goes black and you hear the sound of some rather disgusting "knife-to-flesh" noises...

5) You now have someones head to turn in for your quest.

I'm dead serious. You cut a guys head off while he's still alive. If anyone wants to dispute that SWTOR is "kiddy" or "childish", they obviously haven't played that game that much.

Yeah that was a cool quest, the ONLY part I found was alittle " Disturbing " was when you give the head to the guys wife and her reaction is, to say the least, Heartless and disturbing at the same time.

Did you play the Inquisitor at all?

I found "being evil" as an Inquisitor, really easy. Torture a guy? No problem.

When I played the bounty hunter and chose the "evil" options, my own morals and ethics were assaulted. I couldn't believe some of the stuff I was choosing to do, just to be evil. Cut a mans head off while he's still alive and give it to his wife? Uhhh....

Good to hear! I enjoyed the game as well.

I was part of the larger Beta testers and have been "testing" it for the past few months.

I must say that I am a little upset with how people who "hate" it or are "disapointed" with it.

From my understanding, Bioware never put any other impression out there as to what SWTOR would be. Those who are upset about it had some other idea of what they imagined the game to be, rather than accepting what Bioware was making it to be.

To each their own though. I'll be playing SWTOR and those who do not like it can go play something else.

I'll see you on the Battlefield, Aeolron!

I was part of the beta test too, but I only weigh 130 lbs.

I'm 6'5" - I weigh 240lbs.

BUT... I meant "larger' by refering the more permanent testers, not just a weekend warrior like some others.

I won't start by saying, "Like most of you" because I do not actually know what the majority of you feel about it, but I will start with, "Like most of my friends..."

Like most of my friends, I feel WoW has progressively gotten worse with each expansion. While "parts" of particular expansions helped the game, WoW has been headed in the wrong direction. I had been playing since launch and Cata was the last straw for me. I quit roughly a month after Cata released and havn't looked back.

With the Mists of Panda' coming out in the future, I cannot help but wonder if it could be a saving grace for this aged and dragged down game. Yes, 99% of my mind tells me there is no hope for WoW, but that 1%... begs for a glimmer of hope.

Will I be purchasing MoP? Unlikely, especially with the slew of newer MMO's coming to the market, but I have to wonder what some of your thoughts are. But I guess I won't know until that time...

(is there any hope for WoW? I believe Cata was the last nail in the coffin...)

I'm not looking for the "WoW sucks lawlz" reponse. I am truly interested if anyone feels WoW has any hope at all.

Good to hear! I enjoyed the game as well.

Only one mod I want.

I want a mod that lets mobs respawn in cleared dungeons, ruins, caves & Camps at a faster rate.

They dont need to create new creatures, just want these areas to feel like real places like they did in Oblvion.

Clear dungeon  of bandits, come back in a day or so and find undead have moved into the place clear them and the next time its big old rats.

Do that for me Modders and I love u foreva

I approve this message.

Is it "Figher" or supposed to be "Fighter" ?

Nice catch Kalimni!

I didn't even notice :(

I'm not trying to discuss whether or not mounts are good or bad for MMO's. I just want to know what everyone's favorite looking mount is.

I have seen so many mounts, it is hard to believe that there are still new ones coming out in mmo's these days - there must be thousands.

But... I got the idea for this post from a recent interaction with a particular mount recently and I decided to ask everyone what their favorite mount is.

Everquest 2 just released not too long ago, a Sabertoothed Flying Squirrel Mount that stands on its hind legs, at about 6-10 feet tall depending on your character. I'm sorry, but it has got to be the best looking mount I have ever seen to date. Just my opinion though!

What is your favorite and from what game? :D

Took me many a week to beat this game - in fact, it took me several times too. I kept not knowing what to do next and ran out of time. The Kor-Ah (?) would destroy everyone, game over.

Easily one of the best, if not THE best single player space exploration/combat games ever.
