Nah, Perfect world is actually better than Netmarble.  They have super high prices on cash store but the items are not so outrageously overpowered. It's still P2win pretty much in Perfect World  stores but they should take Greed 101 lessons from netmarble. My latest favourie was the cannons made by the cash shop items where you can blow up any ship in just 1 shot... It is the super nuke cannon of the 16th century!

Oh boy more Kill X Orcs and bears quests and 900 "prove your worth to this village" quests

Lotro must have the most boring quests in mmo history

Didn't RoR just come out? It's still being sold at full price too. Turbine is incredibly greedy and scummy

I am sorry but you are completely wrong. It is usually not kill bears but KILL x PIGS

I have been killing pigs for the last 4-5 years and their population still seems to be the same. Every new zone added seems to be bringing more Pigs to kill... The real danger to these lands are not the Orcs goblins etc..it is the PIGS!

I would like to thank the developers for adding new pigs at every new zone, I keep paying $30-40 per expansion so I can have even higher level pigs to kill at different zones. I have to go now and kill even more pigs. I would like to suggest that developers release another expansion $50 called "Rise of the pigs". They really dont have to do much, all they have to do is just level up the pigs 5 more levels, change the color of the skin a little bit and rename the mob from "Rohan Pig" to "Super Pig"....you know, like they do at every expansion :)

I was just about to cheer for this when I saw its the same guys that did the horrible ajgged alliance onlien...another browser game with cash shop!!! yay

I actually reinstalled and played for 2 days after 1 year break. It is good to know that nothing changed :)

Except I was getting more lockboxes and more spam messages saying "XXX got another ship from a lock box! yay"

I tried some of the new missions, and then tried to play some of the old buggy ones I got stuck in, in which I got in stuck again cause it bugged again :)

I also looked at the shop to see if I can buy anything new...Nope, maybe some more new ship designs...

I will definitely come back and try again next year to see what kind of awesome changes are made...

This is going to be awesome! I got maxed up chars on both factions and got nothing to do other than collect lock boxes!

With the addition of Romulans I can get him to max level and then have nothing else to do other than collect lock boxes!

I hope they add some other variaties of lock boxes, Since factions cant even attack each other unless you are in an instanced pvp scenario the Romulan faction will make this game even better than before!

The game feels completely like diablo or torchlight. You get a class and stick to it, no multiclassing which is the special thing about DDO.

Wanna be a DPS fighter? or an evocation wizard? No just stick tot he basic archtypes they give to you...

Most likely other clssses like paladin monk etc will be in the cash shop...

I can't even move and swing my sword, everything roots you in place...

Summary: I agree with the original poster: complete disappointment, If you want D&D go play DDO, much dated but still way better than this

Its not like "oh, someone is about to shoot me, let me use this cash shop invincibility item or click on my double speed run so I can cap the base before anyone" like UWO

Double speed run to cap the base?  UWO has bases to cap?  What are you talking about?

I was comparing it with Planetside 2 vs UWO. Read first paragraph

This is going to be awesome.... I was killing lvl 24 epic kobolds and lvl 23 rats....

Now I can kill lvl 28 epic zombies and lvl 28 super epic goblins.....

Same stuff, just have to pay to get it...

Over 50 and have played almost all the main MMO at least a little.

Unfortunately, I would agree with those describing two threads of evolution in MMORPGs since original UO: as games have gotten more beautiful visually they have gotten dumber.  Apparently the marketing data reveal that the largest target audience wants all gain with no pain.  Furthermore, we have moved from multi-player community focused gaming to single-player.

GW2 is a great example.  By the time you reach 80 you feel no sense of achievement - it has all been a time sink.

Lack of ability to interact with the world around you, lack of real sense of danger, lack of a sense your character is unique - I could go on.  The only rays of light are the Kickstarters out there like Trials of Ascension and Embers of Caurus.  And flickers of life from the big companies like EQ Next (If you are willing to believe the teasers given out by Mr. Smedley).

Bioware and SWTOR have been the biggest disappointment, not because SWTOR is all that bad a game.  It is because it could have been so much more.  Finishing SWTOR doesn't leave you with quite that same dull ache you had coming out from seeing Episode I The Phantom Menace, but that is along the lines of the analogy I am seeking.

This may sound silly, but an early test of any game now for me is : can I sit in that chair?  As you'll recall from UO, you could sit in the chairs and benches around you.  If I go into an MMO, and they have lots of chairs and benches, but my character either cannot sit in them or can only do so using a horrid looking sprawl a la SWTOR - then something is wrong.

If I got a chance to post just one question about EQ Next to Smedley, that would be it:  Mr. Smedley, will our characters be able to sit in chairs? ;)

I am in the same boat.  45 years old here.  Can't stand the games without interactive components, such as a whole room full of barrels and crates and only one is clickable.  Or like when you kill 5 sword wielding bandits and then there is no sword to pick up.  How dumb is that?  The guy just had a sword and now it has magically disappeared.  Worse than that is not being able to jump.

Back on topic though, OP: I don't think that you will find much satisfaction in the games suggested because as you mature and take in certain games and their style, you are less likely to be impressed by games of the same ilk. Our gameplay and game appetite matures through the course of playing and as a result, we find less and less enjoyment out of the look-alikes.

any of you guys remember the old TSR games? pools of radiance? curse of azure bonds? Champions of krynn?

In those games when you killed 10 orcs you had 10 leather armors, 10 swords and 10 daggers to pick from.

When I killed 5 drows I had 5 sets of elf chain mails, 5 drow swords and 5 magical drow rings ....

Now I kill 200 knights in full steel armor and I get 1 leather armor...or 1 piece of wizard robe...

Please don't waste your time with Guild Wars 2.  I've played all the games you have with the exception of Eve - and find Guild Wars 2 to be very shallow.  Vertical progression pretty much halts once you get to level 80.  I like for my character to always get stronger in some way - not just better eye candy.

^^^ agreed

Its good time killer for a few weeks though

Think of these people as little time scammers. Lets buy the rights to this title, get some crowd in. Then sell anything we can before the game collapses.

A good example is the latest event where they sell items that can 1 shot (around 400-500 damage) any ship. Maybe 2-3 shot huge well armored ships. Still, you get my point. This is probably what happened:

Gpotato/netmarble: We are not making a lot of money lately, lets sell these items where it makes the game total P2Win.

but sir, some players will be upset and leave the server...

Gpotato/netmarble: who cares, release the kraken!!!!

(players leave the server, large protest begin...)

Gpotato/netmarble: We are sorry for releasing such unfair items, we will get them off the item shop in a little while, so buy while you still can!!!

Players: YAY! they listened to us, they will not sell these items in the cash shop after a few days when their pockets are full and the pvp is totally ruined....

Whats funny is game rating going higher and higher on this site.... I wonder who is voting?

guess what I just dropped $100 on planetside cause the cash shop doesnt let me Pay2Win. I am just getting more xp and some unlocks, got some skins, that does make my character look cool and thats it.

Its not like "oh, someone is about to shoot me, let me use this cash shop invincibility item or click on my double speed run so I can cap the base before anyone" like UWO

Good thing I saw this coming long time ago...the greed killed the game. I spent hundreds of dollars on other games and 0 on this game. I had hopes, I had dreams but thanx to Gpotato and Netmarble now they are gone. I hope the server closes and some other person gets the rights from KOEI and releases it again...with MORALS and NO GREED this time, then the comunity will flourish and it will become a small but fun game...

(sad and funny  how people do dungeons and no sailing in a sailing game cause of the imbalance....)

I agree the greed that took over the WOT with the golden ammo is not in this game "yet". Anything in the game you can buy with in game cash, which is really great and just like the developers promised.  Its just that the game is based on killing things, doing more damage etc. Objectives mean almost nothing, in the old MW games if you cap or defend the objective you win, it doesnt matter how much damage you dealed. I tagged and spotted things with my light mech, the xp is insignificant compared to hitting the enemy 10-15 times with your assault mech. Thats why if you check out the games its always lots of assaults and maybe 1-2 light med mech with ECM (thats the only way you survive 20 incoming LRM from an assault...

I know its in beta, lots of balance issues. BUt I hope this game ends up smthg more than a lobby game like WOT

I am just happy that i didnt buy the founder pack for this game. This is nothing more than counterstrike FPS with mechs.  There is no dept, no strategy, just get a big assault mech and dish out damage while zerging with your buddies.

I like to play a light/med scout mech, today in a capture base mission I SOLO captured the base, while the other people were fighting with their assault mechs in the middle. I was jus so proud of myself cause I won the game for my team with a LIGHT mech by capturing the base.

Then the team points come up: Assault mechs get 400-500 points for dishing out a lot of damage and I got 21...

Not kidding only 21 pointd for winning the game, my punishment for not playing an assault mech, or one of those mosquito light mechs that make circles and keep spamming lasers using lag to my advantage...

I am also sick of playing the same 4-5 scenarios over and over again, the game was fun for 2 hours and the other 4 hours I wasted on it was frustration. But you can just visit the cash shop to buy a nice big mech with great weapons that gets 30% more xp...

I will not uninstall for another couple weeks cause devs are talking about planet invasions etc, if that feature is not coming then all i can say is this is a BAD version of world of tanks...

I am not touching that game with a 10 feet pole...

First the developer is notorious for the buggy game releases. 1 year after the release I might try it  (when it goes free to play)

Second there is always balancing issues in their games both in oblivion and skyrim magic was way weaker than melee or bow. Just build up resistances and magic hardly damages you not to mention the casters run out of mana. In melee...swing away for 1000+ damage crits. -I didn't play this game yet so I am just assuming based on my knowledge of both oblivion and skyrim.

And both in skyrim and oblivion there is really NOTHING to do other than grind small side quests, or try another character. This will be just another skyrim you eill spend fun few weeks with friends and then wait for the next thing....then again I hope they prove me wrong and make a decent game/product rather than this cash cow to milk the gamers

UWO is far from perfect, but there is nothing in game that you must spend cash on to be competitive and win. The biggest benefit the cash shop ships give you is they allow you to sail higher level ships with lower level requirements.

an old event from when I left the game:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2011/04/08/hoist-the-mainsail-uncharted-waters-online-launches-world-race-challenge

pay to win:

http://uwo.netmarble.com/item/itemDetail.asp?idx=15&sKey1=4&sKey2=1&sKey3=&sKey4=

and back in the day it wasnt 30% , it wass like 50%, they also had the teleport to port scrolls, good times...

Definitely gonna buy a life time subscription after learning out that Cryptic made this game, just like I did to Star trak online...oh wait...

Thats the beauty of GW2 , no monthly fee.

I will most likely take a break to try other games, maybe some other MMO (maybe some old single player games, MMO's tend to get boring after a while...same old grind, different themepark)

I dont do WvW anymore, you know why? What's the point?

I used spend hours so that my server climbs up the ladder and meet stronger and better opponents. I used to defend a castle for hours dying multiple times and paying a lot of repairs so that my faction will control the castle...

Then one day I woke up and asked myself? Whats the point?

As my server goes up the ladder and as me and myguildmates spend many hours and lots of gold on this cause what do we get back? Don't tell me you get more benefits for your server as you get higher points. The benefits are almost negligible. Maybe 2% more crafting xp boost and 2% more gold from monster.

I just spend 4 hours  defending that castle last week, what was the reward for me or my guild? Did my guild get a reward for defending our castle? No, we actually lost a lot of gold buying siege engines and repairing. Maybe we won a little karma but thats it...

Now the biggest catch, what do we do when we go Wvw now? me and coupel friends just hop from one instance to another just capping the supply camps for karma, sometimes we cap undefended castles too, but dont defend it. It all turned into a big zerg around the map capping as many things in a little time and let them get capped by the enemy so u can cap them again.

At one point it was 3 big zergs of 3 servers going clockwise around the battleground just capping everything and not defending so the next group can capture it. Why defend it? whats the reward? Karma farming with a group of opposite faction is much faster, everyone is sarting to do this now...

(edit: before ppl say u get points for defending too, NO, its just a small fraction of what you would get if you were capturing it. and also its still bugged, I can stay inside the castle for hours and maybe get 1 out of 3 or 4 defense rewards)

it was a nice quick summary of the whole xmas event.  I wasnt very impressed with the event, but not that bad either
