Considering that game didn't really die out, I assume they did something to control balance between factions (as I'm sure history had repeated itself in that game as in this game). I would think that they have some experience in how to deal with the balance issues, we'll just have to see how it goes. |

I have a feeling that 700k will be the max this game will get, maybe 800k like AoC did. It will probably keep at a constant base of 300k players in a couple of months, at least that is my prediction. Sorry WoW haters, WotLK will probably overshadow this game. WoW's customer base at this point is at least more than three quarters being long time players. They simply like the way WoW is played. If it's anything like what they did with the BC it will overshadow every other PC launch within a month radius, as history repeats itself... not that WAR isn't a good game, it is just stupid to think that WotLK will help WAR... you guys are thinking as if 1.) people who disliked WotLK are going straight to WAR and 2.) that people won't get bored with WAR and move on to WotLK. It's kind of a bad time and a good time to launch at this period. They probably would have been better off if they waited until Christmas if you ask me... they could easily have made 1 mil subs going that route, especially with a couple more months of bug fixing that they'd get from it(although the game is pretty damn polished as far as launches go). Hell, maybe we'd still have the 4 missing classes and 4 cities. I personally would have liked to see that. |

Drawing your own face? Do you know how expensive it is when you get to over customize every lil polygon of a model? Very..and thats fine and dandy for games like Vanguard and EQ2 which aren't based around large scale combat but if you put 100 or so EQ2 / Vanguard chars on the same screen and even if your computer is above normal it still lags to high hell and back. im so sick of this complaint honestly who the hell knows another players toon by face? no one. Even in EQ2 I only knew who a pesron was by their name all the 'features' people thought ewere so cool were always covered up by armor.
For myself, I don't customize for other people. I customize because it makes the gaming experience more fun for me. I like being able to choose my body type, exactly the way I want my character's face to look, the hair, the "armor" with more then just trophies (or depending on the game, their costume or clothing), all sorts of things. And we're talking about aesthetics, here; not resistances and abilities. But considering that you probably knew what we were talking about, and half of your examples didn't pertain to aesthetics, it sort of helps to prove the point. Also, having more customization really doesn't do much of a difference to a game's performance. It really doesn't... the way sliders function and the way "choose this or that" function is not entirely different, it's just the sliders function gives more utility / versatility. I can easily understand why people would think this, though. |

The lack of customization bugged me at first until I started realizing that, in this game, I'm just a nameless soldier. The only things now that bug me with customization are the lack of different faces and, more importantly, lack of appealing hairstyles. Oh how I would love playing a WP if he didn't have to be bald. But this all falls back on the WAR sort of atmosphere... you aren't suppoesed to be "unique". All this makes me miss CoX and makes me hope CO turns out fantastic. |

...just annoyed by how they implemented animations from a distance? I really don't think this is a game breaking issue and I myself am enjoying this game a good bit, but something that annoyed me the first time I played this game in OB was the fact that, if you see something moving a slight distance away, it moves in little "clips", as in you don't see the full animation. I was hoping that it was simply because it was in beta but it seems to be an in-game addition. Now this is fine and dandy for those that have average computers, and I can understand the performance issues with this in areas with large conflicts with multiple players. But honestly it feels like I'm playing a game from the early 90s. Some of us have more than one processor. It just feels really cruddy to me and I would eventually want the option to see the full animations of characters. I think it's a great limit on system hogging for those that don't have the great computers, but for those of us that do have semi-good computers, it would be nice not having to see things moving in blocks. Am I the only one who's honestly peeved by this? |

I have 5 scrolls of resurrection if anyone wants them, right now I only have two that I can give immediately but am going to have to edit this to add in the three others later. Here they are in link form; just click the link, enter your account info on the blizzard site and you're good to go: https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/resurrect-a-friend-target.html?key=8000121455378395296782584 https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/resurrect-a-friend-target.html?key=1254708503666758057985540 I will add crosses and red colored text to the links that no longer work. Three more will be added soon. |

I probably already posted on this particular thread a while ago, but I want to add my two cents that I like the art style they're going for with this game. Cel-shading can look and perform fantastically... if done right. So far, it looks like crap (at least some of the screens). In some screens you can barely see the character. But in others it looks quite impressive. I'm going to be hoping that it's simply because it's early in the testing and most MMOs don't focus on "final" visuals until late in development (a great example of this is WAR... I have to say that 4-6 months ago the game looked like crap. Now it looks pretty good if you ask me. Cel-shading can work. I'd say at this point just give it some time to breath before you judge the game by it's graphics. At this moment what I'm focusing on is the general direction and ideas the developers are wanting to take this game (as right now, we really can't see much of what they have to offer). I can hope Cryptic can pull it off because they pulled CoX off pretty damn good, and considering this is basically just a CoX2 with a new look (reminds me of the drastic changes from TF to TF2 in it's early days and what it used to look like) it should be even better. |

The one thing I quoted though is something I agree with you about. HA at this point is ridiculous, then again it's been like this for a while. You can't get a decent group unless you've beaten it 8 times before. But if you're new, you will never find a group that has any organization. So it's impossible to get rank for HA unless you already have it. Which makes no sense if you ask me. The only possible way is to do it with a guild, but no guilds do it on a regular basis except for HA specific guilds... which only recruit you if you have rank... which, again, makes no sense. |

Originally posted by vernd Good thing you're obviously an idiot. Every copy of the game comes with 30 days free, this is an MMO standard that has been in place for at least 8 years, probably more.
Nothing to name names for, calm down a little. Yes, every edition comes with a free month, but it requires either 1.) Your credit card information or 2.) Buying a Pre-paid time card. Now, if you buy the paid time card you have no choice but to pay for 2 months worth (with the extra month added on). But, with the credit card information, you are not billed automatically. If you wish, you can cancel your payments before your free month expires and not get billed. I found this a little devious myself, but not a huge issue. Would be nice if I didn't have to give my credit card information but that's the only option I guess (unless you want to blindly pay for two months in hopes that you will be able to enjoy it for three, let alone one month as some people simply won't like this game). I guess the free month for MMOs is taking on a new meaning, now. |

the only thing I can agree with is your opinion of the chat system. You're right, it does suck. Then again, I'd prefer the chat being broken rather then something that actually matters like a main feature or a class or a huge group of abilities. So far it's pretty smooth of a launch when it comes to technical issues, at least through my findings. |

I'd vote real time if it was ever perfectly implemented in an MMO. But sadly I haven't really seen any MMOs that have made real time combat function properly. The closest I think was AoC, at least for melee combat. They still failed in the sense that people could charge up their super attacks and failed in the sense that they didn't use real time combat for ranged types (other then rangers, getting a 25% damage buff if they chose to do so). They were smart enough to realize that from a range it gives far too much of an advantage to melee types. |

Seriously what's the appeal of the CE, or at least the bonuses that are worth an extra $30 bucks? It's bad enough that I found out I was forced to subscribe for at least a month to play. |

Same findings here. Then again, I think that is how a "utility" (able to do everything yourself) class is supposed to be able to play. Because they can't perform a specific action better than any other class, in group pairings they are mediocre at best because they can't cause significant heals or significant damage, just mediocre of both at once. But 1 on 1 they should be a very tough class to fight. |

Nope, I think exactly the opposite. Gives more players the option of playing isolated (at least as much as they can in an MMO) or if they want the option to play with many people if you join a populated server. It also gives the option to not have to wait in a queue, or be forced to play on a specific allegiance. |

Yep, I think one of the biggest screw ups with SWGs was the fact that they offered other classes and the jedi as a class you had to earn. People are going to want to play jedis in a Star Wars video game. I think what would make more sense for the game would be that everyone is a jedi but performs specific roles. A healing jedi uses powers of the force to heal his teammates and a blaster to fight off jedis from a range (of course, guiding / altering the fire with the force to make it more jedi-esque). An aggresive jedi uses double-bladed sabers and just rushes in chopping people apart. And a focused jedi of the force uses his force from a range, blowing crap up with it's mind, while using a single lightsaber mixed with agressive force to fend off foes who decide to get too close. You could make jedis fit any role if you wanted. The only class other then the jedi that even vaguely interested me in Pre-NGE SWG was the bounty hunter. Maybe he could be an exception... |
