I remember the Wizardy series having an element of si-fi as well, I wonder if this new game will also have si-fi in it as well? |

MMORPG.com ranking system is EVIL - here's why!
Site Suggestions « General Discussion 6/10/11 10:51:19 PM
How about a reputation system?
I've always like the idea* of the Steam rep+ button, I think we should have this on top of what's already here, only here it should run a little differently, as in...
1) You only get as many points as you have stars per week and only one star per poster maybe given in a row, per thread, sort of thing.
2) There should also be a rep- which works the same way. - (I’ve even heard that Facebook is getting a Dis-like button)
Adding this will let us know who to take a bit more seriously and who is well really just a troll.
Just a thought.
* I like the idea of it not the way steam actually uses it.
P.S. How do I setup the auto -login again? :D

Any retail box game that needs Steam will have the steam label on it, usually on the back where the requirements are, check the box requirements first before you buy and ask the store staff as well if you’re in doubt.
Been there myself, no one to blame but ones self.

I've come full circle with steam, in the days of 56k modems, it was the devil and was spat upon on when the name was mentioned, ..now a few years later, with a better pc and a much faster internet connection, it an angel to me with nearly 200 games in my steam library all up to date and most bought below the $10 or $20 budget limit, I luv steam, if there’s a game that I want to play with my friends, I don't badger them to buy it, I just buy it for them,(these friends are local friend, not internet friends) when Global agenda came out on steam for $7.50au I just bought them all copies, we still play it today,( our agency is called MISFITZ) same went for red orchestra, Counterstrike, best value ever, I luv the steam specials, even if I pay $50 for a game pack and we play it only for two or three hours, I’ve got my money’s worth, cheaper than going to the movies for two hours.
Playing steam off line, yes of course you can play your games offline, Provided it’s an offline game, just go click Steam in the top left corner of the steam browser and click Go offline..
As for games requiring online registration, well I still had to do it for MechWarrior 2 and 3 in the day, far as I’m concerned people who are complaining about online rego, are the ones who want a hard disc version so they can give it there mates for free and let them put on a no-cd.exe or fixed exe so they don’t have to pay, I believe that little trick is called piracy, just like the wild west of old, there putting up barb wire and are closing in on the cattle rustlers,( like it or not it’s happening)
As for product tracking it’s been around a very very long time, true on a smaller scale done on paper, in ink by hand, how else do you think the retailer knew what to restock and what was going to be dead stock, same thing is still happening today, just on a much bigger scale, you knew it was always going to happen, you always knew time wouldn’t and couldn’t stand still, hell you never know maybe one day your grand kids will have Star Trek style replicators and Holo-decks and guess what, you most likely will need ID to use them.

Playing any MMO instead of watching the Royal wedding.

1) The Royals use to.. Or still do own the country.
2) When they agreed to signing the Magna Carta, (which let the British people rule themselves, instead of the Royals), yes they became no more than a figure heads, that and the invention of public radio.
3) The only real thing the Britts have left to give the world is there past, ...that and Doctor Who.

last good first-person fantasy RPG that's not Elder Scrolls or M&M or a mmorpg?

Also when you go into 1st person mode, you can look down and see your body.
Yes you can play all the way through in 1st person.

Man, I've seen and used some really nicely thought out controls in games and I've dealt with some really bad controls in games, but this game takes the WTF were they thinking award for very bad game controls, game looks nice thou, I might try it again latter, ...when they work out a normal set of game controls or even add in some joystick controls. |

Considering how many actual 1st person fantasy games there are, it's not surprising that posters are also including games which are also 3rd person, a lot of which also do allow you to go into 1st person mode, add in the fact the OP ask to exclude the Elderscrolls set and Might & magic games out of this thread plus any mmorpg's, you can see why were limited to adding 3rd person rpgs as well.

Very much enjoying it, the horse riding is a bit more realistic than the elder scrolls horses, ( you actually have to spur the horse on to move it and it will throw you off if you abuse it too much, also has inventory space as well))) the combat is very fun and hard, it's easier than the gothic set to play but harder than elder scrolls, Acradia and Divinity II, I luv the fact that some caves and dungeons are totally pitch black, forcing you to use a torch to see by I think it's a well-rounded mix of all the games I listed, but I'm still playing, the single play game is free roam, watch out for the baboons they throw dirt ..I hope, at you,
As for the multiplayer side, it starts by you entering a central hub town, with shops and so forth, ( not like DDO at all) then you create a game/adventure and enter, ether by yourself or with your friend and other players can join in as well ,( can be password locked) play though that level to unlock the next level, been doing it solo for now while I wait till the rest of my gaming group gets it, I did find that most players spoke German, but when I asked if there were any English players I got back a few, " Yar we speak English!" replies" I feel happy with my $50Au spent better than the $50 I spent on Rift,( but that’s another story)
Hope that helps.
P.S. Please do not expect any of these games that I have listed to play like any mmorpg game
edited for spell checking.

Try these, I'm, Playing Gothic 1, -( I missed it the first time round it was released) Played Gothic 2, took about 3mnths of play, best game ever in my books, still keep seeing Kings Scroll plants in my garden) Playing Gothic 3 (CPT1.74 + Q4 +CM2.2*), ( played when it first came out and re started when the all the patches came out again) - still playing, gets the same vote from me as Gothic 2, as I'm sure G3: FG will. Gothis 3: Forgotten Gods Enhanced Edtion, ( just awaiting me to finish Gothic 3 (1.74 + Q4 +CM2.2) Played Arcadia - ( But it's NOT gothic 4 ...game) which was very pretty and a quick fun play) Playing - Risen - ( which should have been Gothic 4 ), and looking forwards to Risen 2 Playing - TwoWorlds II, - ( very much like Gothic 3 crossed with Elderscrolls 4, plus with coop multiplay side as well, which is sepatrate from singleplay side of game ) - ( sorry I bypassed playing TW1, but I do own it)) Currently also playing Divinty II - Dragon Kight Saga, it's a fun romp!) also played thru and totally enjoyed Fable Lost chapters, Never played Fable 2, ( Stupid consoles! ) looking forwards to Fable 3, ( Hurray back to PC! ) I also Played, Arcadia - ( The, but it's NOT Gothic 4 game) which was very pretty and a quick fun play ) So to sum up; Gothic set followed by Risen. followed by Two Worlds II. and All can be found on Steam at a cheap price except for Risen.
*(CPT1.74 + Q4 +CM2.2*) = ( Community patch Team 1.74 patch + Quest 4 addon, + Content Mod 2.2 ) - you must patch this up your self, info on how to do it can be found on the Steam forums. |

I don't think of those type of games anymore as,"WoW Clones!"
I think of them as," WOW Clowns" as in," WoW you really are a Clown if you think you can fool me with that bad excuse of a game, like I can't see it's nuth'n but a money pit, shove it up your ass, you’re not getting a cent from me!"
...it's either that or go crazy watching this debate go on and on and on.......etc.
I mean we all get it, Bach didn't rip off Led zeppelin and Led Zeppelin didn’t copy Jet or whoever.
I personally believe that the term WoW clone is mainly used by those people where World of Warcraft was there first mmorpg and even there first multi-play and even for some there first ever computer game, these people are the ones who think of WoW as the first ever of all time, only latter on do they realize there was and still are whole genre of mmorpg games and communities which have come before and after WoW, I like to think of these people as Vault dwellers who finally found the door out or got kick out and now roam the wastelands, the only life they have known is the vault so anything new in their life they find or come across, can only be compared to life in the vault.
Just a thought.
