Interesting review.

But it is a review, *not* a preview!

Um.. it's not a review and it is a preview according to Bill Murphy who posted just that a few posts back in this thread, the full review will be posted in a week or two.

They want to play something like Guild Wars or Diablo where you have social hubs and instanced questing areas. They want an experience that is quick to get into and rewards them constantly for doing nothing like all the ribbons you get in BF3. They don't want to explore vast worlds, have a challenge or do any world content. They certainlly are not interested in the idea of a virtual seamless world like what MMOs tried to offer in the past.

For me an MMO has to have a persistent world that can have a MASSIVE amount of players in any one area. That is the basis of the gameplay because if Planetside 2 only offered 64 player fights and then a social hub to visit it wouldn't be an MMO. Yet we have games these days calling themselves MMOs and they lack any of this.

Every MMO I've ever loved playing has been ruined by all the whiners on the forums. The problem is the developers listen to them, give them what they want and patch by patch we slowly lose the MMO and are just left with a multiplayer game.

It's happening and happened to SWTOR already...

People are already asking for fast travel every, the ability to just warp to any planet from your location. They're already asking for faster vehicles because they hate the travel times which in SWTOR are so small as it is. In beta they added the fleets which basically took everyone out of the worlds and put them in a social hub where they just stay there. Most people now just sit there get groups for flashpoints and battlegrounds and level up on that stuff like what happened to WoW. The worlds have no one in them because these people playing do not want to play an MMO, they just want to play Guild Wars.

We have these amazing cities in SWTOR with no one in them because of that fleet station and it has ruined the MMO in that game. I at least want people to be in those cities and not the fleet station which shouldn't even be in the game in the first place.

What is happening to world PVP now? Well it barely exists outside of the PVP planets and oh look the population cap on them is getting shrunk already. There is even talk about just turning them into bigger battlegrounds like AV. The players on Ilum don't want a world PVP experience, they just want to exploit and farm the game until they ruin it and the developers take out world PVP altogether like what happened in WoW.

Every MMO this has happened to and the last one I truely loved to play (SWG) it happened to that too. Forums whiners slowly got that game dumbed down over time to the point it was ruined well before the CU or the NGE. The CU was the straw and the NGE was just he final Nail, but the truth is that game was well and truely going down the shitter by early 2004.

SWTOR has made me realise that no one wants to play MMOs anymore and I have no interest in carrying on with the genre that clearly died out many years ago. What it has turned into today is all thanx to the casual crowd that WoW brought it and they moaned until they killed that game off too. Mythic had the right idea in not having any forums and the only dveeloper that has managed to keep their MMO true to their vision is CCP, so credit to them for that. I'd watch out though it probably wont be too long before it becomes class and loot based lol.

When I read this, it was with the voice of Sheldon Copper* in my head reading it aloud.

* (from the TV show," Big bang theory" )

....."Shut up Sheldon!"

Yes I would, I've shelled out more money for titles that were supposed to be triple, “A” games and turned out to be shit, I’ve even paid out even more money for crappy takeaway food, this looks at least half fun and I luved Freespace and Descent back in the day, so yes, I would rather put my money in with some inde dev and give them half a chance, then give...( well you know the rest of this sentence.)

Merry Christmas to all the staff at mmorpg.com, hope you all have a great Christmas and happy New Year, thanks for all your efforts and for putting up with us all

..or at least just me.

and A Merry christmas & happy new year to all the members as well.

Now the threatening bit, "See you all next year!'

Here is a thought or two, i don't think we will be adventuring into these old lands anytime soon or ever for that matter, think of all the work that would have to go into making this happen in a DLC, that would basicly require the remake of not one game but two games.

I think it's more likly going to be for dragon riding, think about it, if you could ride dragons in Skyrim and you flew to the edge of the known world, what would you see off in the distance?

there are plenty of fictional reasons why dragons could not fly to these places and at the sametime it would look pretty cheap if you could not get a glimps of them from a distance.

so my theroy is, it's all for dragon riding in some future un-spoken of DLC/Mod.

Still it would be nice to go back and see these places.

It never fails to astound me how people get all up in arms and are amazed that a company wants to make money....

It's not the companies fault that pay2win exists, its our fault ,the gamers fault. Because we pay. For every whiner who complains about pay2win and not touching a certain game, there is someone who will support the game by buying something. And yes, yo uare SUPPORTING them. When you use cash shops, you give money to the company who can then make the game better.

Or you can play for free and whine on forums about how th egame goes downhill and how you felt you are entitled to more without paying a cent.

It is not the drug dealer's fault...

...I love this particular analogy...

...it is not the drug dealer's fault.  If people did not buy the drugs, there would not be drug dealers.  It is the fault of the buyers, not the dealers.

If we shot drug dealers in the head on TV, there would be fewer drug dealers...regardless of demand for the product.

So which came first the chicken or the egg?

i love the current WOT pay model. it keeps all the whinny little kids and people who want everything for free out of the game.

Totally agree, also far as I'm concerned, those that complain about gold ammo killing them off are just lousy at the game and need someone else to blame than admit their own inability to play the game well.

Hope that helps.

that's a really poor interview considering Diablo three is a much much much more in-depth version of that game. It's like trying to compare an SUV to a small truck. Obviously Diablo three is and have a lot more features and if anybody thinks torchlight to will end up being better than Diablo three they're incredibly delusional.

It think you are feeling nerves’ about competition for your favourite game, ...yes?

Maybe you are in denial ..yes,

this lashing out and making outrageous claims, before the race is won so to speak is just speculations.

So SWTOR ganked the gankers from ganking low levels and now the gankers are crying foul and whining, lol the irony.

I'd rather Allods online over champions anyday, just say'n.

I liked the graphics, i didn't even mind the standard questing, but when a game like Perfectworld can run rings around a triple AAA game like Aion with better flight then something is very wrong, it's like the dev's put the whole flying thing as an afterthought, invisible walls everywhere, very limited flight time, no flying quests or monsters to fight, it's just wrong, I remember seeing the first ad's for Aion and it was the main thing about the game was flying and yet... sorry but this game is not worthy of my $15 a month.

Luv'ed the comics, thought the tv show was great, can't wait to try the game.

Think I'll stick to my paws and run free, that's just lame.

Count me in, glad to be in, find me under the same name, I own over 231 games on steam alone, bound to find something play, yes Brink is one of them. :)

Atm i'm into Allods, World of Tanks, Deus ex HR,( finding it boring thou, nuth'n new) luving Allods & World of Tanks, just tried Aion,( boring) and doing a bit of WoW in between, looking forwards to BF3, Red Orcestra 2 and Space Marine 40K and hopefully something new in the MMORPG market,( sooner than latter this decade) :)

No no no, this isn't right that just to reasonable i mean what next devlopers will start to listern to us and make games that we can all agree on, no no no this is just to good to be true, nup i don't beleive it,

...really a good game at a reasonable price with alomst everything we could want in a game?

I decided to try world of tanks with a friend.   We got in the game and decided we would team kill each other once, so we did and laughed about it in chat, next thing you know, my buddy is banned for a whole day.   I was very shocked that they would allow team killing and then suspend your account for 24 hours for it.   So naturally I team klled three times in a row to see if it was just a glitch or something....    It appears it wasnt, they can actually ban you for team killing, taking away days of playtime....    If a game makes team killing a banable offenesee, all I got to say is develop it so it doesnt allow it....

Wow....    just WOW....

I'm starting even question if they are even a legitament gaming company and feel a little scared now that I entred all my personal data, thankfully it wasnt a credit card.

You didn't just get banned for team killing each other you got banned for disrespecting and being inconsiderate of the other players,(on both sides) when you decided that you would take over that game and make it your very own personal playground.

I agree with a lot of other posters here in this thread when they say that this was not your first time at team killing, to get banned for a day or more you would have had to been team killing already before that.

Friendly fire is a in game hazard, very much the same way the rocks and houses are ingame, it's in there on purpose and there are rules about it, which I found by doing a quick Google search http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/forum-29/announcement-26-world-of-tanks-game-rules/ please take note of section 4 of the world of tank rules;

4. Inappropriate conduct in game

The following actions are prohibited in game:

4.01. Intentionally damaging vehicles belonging to a player on the same team (team damage).
4.02. Intentionally destroying vehicles belonging to a player on the same team (team kill).
4.03. Intentionally blocking (blocking from front and rear) vehicles belonging to a player on the same team.
4.04. Intentionally propping (blocking on one side, where the other side of a user's vehicle touches a fixed indestructible obstacle, preventing free movement.) vehicles belonging to a player on the same team.

Also I will draw your attention to the top of the WoT rules page where it reads;

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
BY INSTALLING, COPYING, OR OTHERWISE USING OUR GAME(S) OR SERVICE(S) IN ANY MANNER, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS OF THESE RULES.

IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH OUR RULES FOR WORLD OF TANKS, PLEASE DO NOT PROCEED WITH THE REGISTRATION PROCESS AND LEAVE OUR SITES IMMEDIATELY AND DO NOT ACCESS OR USE OUR WEBSITE(S), GAME(S), OR SERVICE(S).

This game was really fun till you hit the low 20's....then you are forced to go to the PvP area to continue leveling...unfortunately, at that point it turns into the usual griefer gankfest where lvl 50's are hanging around making it very difficult to do anything.  I gave up on it after a week of not being able to level.

But again, really a lot of fun till you hit that low 20's level!!!!

dude you really dont know what your talking about. A ... the level cap is 47 not 50. B. you can buy emblems to prevent  higher level players from ganking you,  C. you really only have to worry about  pvp if you attack a member or npc of the opposite faction, or someone puts up a ware banner, and the place is called asee teph its mainly a pvp area anyways,. D my conclusion of what you said makes me believe you never played this game or maybe heard about through word of mouth

I think a lot of posters on this thread have never played this game and are just jumping on the," hate any F2P mmorpg bandwagon" and just blowing facts out of there asses, Allods seems to be there next target as it gains a bit more interest from new potential players.
