Skill based combat (video)
General Discussion « The Chronicles of Spellborn 11/08/07 12:43:38 PM
My original impression when they first posted this video on the tcos website was that it was shot at the same time as the 500 player stress test. Mabye I happened to see the video and read the stress test article at the same time and mistakeningly came to this conclusion. Judging by the general response of some of the other posters the two instances are entirely unrelated, but it is much more impressive to look at from my point of view. |

I feel that I, as an American, can forgive minor bugs as easily as any European. Besides, I think Vanguard is a poor example. It was far from minor in any way. Losing all of your gear for no reason is certainly not minor. Intermittent character rollbacks for no reason isnt either. I have other things in my mind that I won't explain because I think these two are rather potent. It's fine, that you, as a person believe what you said is true, but if you were representing any sort of business, I would feel severely insulted by your statement and would likely avoid providing any of my business to that company. |

Release date in Dec. for US!

Originally posted by Pietoro Whoops! Not according to the most current FAQ in the tcos forums. I don't believe I have ever seen them state that there will be no simultaneous launch. According to my info, they have refused to disclose an absolute decision on the subject and have stated several times that they are still aiming for a simultaneous launch. If you take some time to read through the discussions on the home forums you should be able to find several more up-to-date statements from the community manager reflecting this. I should also add that the community manager seem to be quite optimistic on getting a U.S. publisher. Unfortunately for us, optimism doesn't exactly predict the future. We can only hope. http://www.tcos.com/sbforum/viewtopic.php?t=11051&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 |

Originally posted by bloodlich I agree with you on this. Until I got drag, chasing runners was more like me hoping they made a wrong turn. As long as you land your blows, one run of your CA's should be enough burst damage to kill any other class. I miss the old days when you could chain stun though, ahhh those were the sweet days indeed. Until you ran into a mezzing class when you had low resists. |

Originally posted by Ladred For starters, I said near launch, not at launch. And as a matter of fact I am indeed correct. How recently have you began playing this game? How long have you experienced it on a pvp server? I have played on Nagafen since it's launch, and more extensively than I would care to admit. I vividly recall picking on enemies that I knew could not fight back because they were mentored. I have been doing my research on this since the launch of Nagafen, how long have you been doing yours? For closure, I never said it was fair or unfair, and it is far from broken because it works exactly how it's supposed to. You are not allowed to fight because you are still severely overpowered for your level when you are mentored. This was implemented to prevent mentored higher levels from beating the crap out of the true lower levels, to keep the fights fair for them. Instead of them being defensless you are now defensless. There was a simple solution for people who wished to mentor, do it in an instance or take the risk. I do agree however, it would be nice to defend yourself. I highly suggest that before going on the offensive you take the time to understand the posts that upset you and make sure you aren't reacting to something that there is no reason to react to, particularly with an "I'm superior" attitude. |

Hahaha, wow I got screwed on my racial then. Half elf invis, lasted for like 5 minutes, you could not move, and had a very long reuse timer. |

Originally posted by whitedelight I joined the Vanguard open beta three days from launch, the problems I went through just trying to get the client downloaded from them was hell enough. I was a bit taken back when I saw the state of the game at T-3 days from launch. Regardless I stuck with it for a couple months and moved on. Did you also get the feeling the game took a step backwards from beta to launch? |

Originally posted by shadout00 Eh, Monks are a little different from the Bruiser from what I understood. Bruisers had several abilities focusing on damage and tended to have higher, high end damage on their skills than monks. Monks seemed to have a few more abilities for defensive purposes than the bruisers. As a bruiser, the only class that truly gave me grief were the swashies. Only a couple of the highly skilled, very well equipped monks on the server ever posed a significant threat. Also, provided the game still has stun immunities after being stunned like it did when I played it kind of defeats the purpose of having so many stuns, unless you are target hopping. Monks are far from bad however, as they have very similar skills to the bruiser, except for their unique high end abilties. I have heard people say they are better tanks than bruisers, although I think that would depend on the player. I have been considering coming back to EQ2 and monk is one of the classes I would like to play. About your gig against stealth classes though, the racial ability probably has a good length reuse timer on it, and likely, has only a short duration. There should be super cheap totems you can buy that last for 15 minutes, ones that see stealth, and ones that see invis. The totems are probably far more effective. |

Thinking about playing again. Is anything different?

Originally posted by Loben Hey what was your name? Coercer was one of those less common classes for max level, I'm sure I saw you around. My character was Tiifa on the Freeport side if you care to know. I've also been considering going back to EQ2, atleast until one of these newer games gets release. I'm somewhat curious on the state of the game myself. |

Originally posted by shadout00 I completely agree with this statement. It's not an exploit it is a purposeful game mechanic. Whether or not people agree with it's purpose is the key element. I'm a bit curious why it is suddenly a problem though, when it has been like this since an update a short while after the pvp server launches. |
