It seems fishy to me as well.  Many of the negative reviews "sound" almost the same.

He failed to mention Guild Wars 2 or Tera.

I left Rift a few months after launch; it just was not for me.  I've played WoW for many years but did not purchase Cata.  I am waiting for a new MMO to grab my attention.

Yeah lets be concerned with the timeline for those weapons....but tell me,  why concern yourselves with the firearms/flamethrower rant when we have fireballs and necromancy?  If those are believable, I'm sure a bit of steampunk can be squeezed in.

I went ahead and canceled.  I do not have a lvl 50, nor have I tried many instances.  This game lost me around level 30 for some reason.  I had "alt-itis" in the head start and had a few alts. 

I am your average Joe, I am casual during the week, then go all hardcore on the weekend.  I am an older gamer (39) so I do not know if that has anything to do with me vs. Rift.

I do not think there is much that would bring me back.

I miss the dynamics as well.  Ahh....they good old days.

I was pre-order, started with the early start.  I kept re-rolling trying to find the right combo.  I got 2 characters up to the 20's (I am very busy at work and now am a casual player).  What did it for me was the Bard nerf.

I found the game easy to walk away from, the ironic thing was as soon as I canceled, I got hit with another 3 month charge 3 days before it was supposed to.

Hello all.  I am new to the game (17 Warden) and am learning more every day.  I am seeking a kinship that centers around older members (Im 39) and good times.

I am learning that while the game is solo friendly, it gets kicked up a notch with grouping---I can assume that kinships boost that even more.

Hey.  Not to kick over too many old stones, but I ws thinking of returning as well.  The only issue I have is a few years back, I recall some sort of issue with NCsoft saying there were going to delete old characters or change their names to "get the good names" back other players.

Is this true?  If I return, will my scrapper with the cool name be called XBR44**RENAME ?

 Bingo Gold!  This is ironic;  there is a game about being in business that drags you into dumping real funds......and they make money.

Im sorry, but I have to say housing would be part of your paid subscription.  It changes many things and is a selling point for more subscriptions.  However, if there were micro-transactions for decorations, rooms, merchants etc, I think that would be playing it safe both ways.

5: Shaman DAOC...Something about droping AoE disease DoTs that was awesome.  Then tossing a cave bolt.

4: Shadow Priest WoW....Melting faces was just so nice.

3: Engineer Auto Assualt...I know...a weird one.  But that RV/Van could do so much!

2: Animist DAOC...Dropping 'shrooms in front of a keep or on one of the bridges in the BG's was just plain awesome.

1: Bard Eq1....Where "twisting" began.  You could do so much with the Bard.  Heal/Mez/Speed/Haste DD...ah the good old days.

I'm a MMO Vet from UO to EQ...Bla Bla...to WoW.  I've enjoyed myself in the Pre-Trammel days of UO...I have a couple of questions:

1.  Is there skill atrophy?   IE...if you do not use a skill it will eventually decrease.

2.  How long can an un-guilded player last?  Are they targets all the time?

3.  Reagents:  Can they be farmed from the ground or the enviroment?  Or do they just drop from mobs?

4.  Goblins....all I hear about is goblins....are there a variety of starting mobs?  How is the amount of Mobs past the starting area?

5.  Fishing....I recall in UO putting on my floppy hat and catching some food....always looking for PKs...in fishing is there a variety of fish?

I remember the days of the Orc Clan in UO (they wound wear orc helms and armor).  The Orc clan would position themselves along roads or bridges and demand payment for the "Toll".  It was some good times.

I'd like to capture some of the old feelings I had in UO.  It seems DF has some of these traits.  I plan on downloading the game but am a bit hesitant.  Thoughts?  (Please dont bash too much..Ive been following the posts here for some time)

Thats one way to decide the reputation of a gaming company...........see how well it uninstalls.  Manually deleting files from the system files is just plain insane.

Another way is to try to cancel if it a pay per play.

I just went back yesterday.  My house was repo'd, half the items in the vault were gone, I was respec'd back to zero, and the /freexfer command was not working for me.

I have 2 lvl 50's RR8 (or so) and a weaponsmith of almost 1100 (classic server that was the top of the line due to no artifacts).  I had forgotten all the /slash commands, keyboard layouts, UI interface set-ups, and just mildly pissed that my house was gone (I know it had been a while and that happens but I had put alot into the home). We are talking about one of the bigger homes too.....<sigh>

I gave it a shot; failure.  I rolled a new toon (never tried a minotaur); failure.

So, hate to say it:  Time to go once again.  I tried to recapture that special feeling I had, the special connection with crafting and RvR.  It just was not there.

Well, I work quite a bit.  Sometimes, I cannot keep up with my guild with gear and load-outs.  I have a family and a decent job.  I do not see a problem with buying in-game items as long as that allows you to be gear rated average (lower tiered) among equal leveled characters.

I do not agree with in-game currency to be sold for real cash however.
