Originally posted by safwd I see what your saying. I'm going to answer you as an FFA PVP'er ok? You probably wont' like what you hear but this is something that is normal for me. Something I'm just used to and can handle. I can handle logging into a mmorpg as a level 1 and dieing over & over again to a level 70. I know what its like, and I know how to get around it. Doesn't matter what mmorpg it is. If i'm being corpse camped, its something I just accept until I grow in power. It doesn't bother me at all, thus why my kind is a dieing breed. FFA PVP'ers are tough and have great morale. A corpse camp is not something that will break us. Get it? FFA PVP is a dynamic world that is always changing. |

Why don't you become an FFA PVP'er? Are you a carebear? Don't get mad when I ask that, its ok if you are! Hear me out! Are you tired of all the mmorpgs coming out? Are you tired of just grinding for items? Maybe you are an FFA PVP'er at heart. Maybe you've heard of the glory days of old Ultima Online, Meridian 59, Asherons Call Darktide but never got to experience them. These were mmorpgs that had less emphasis on items and more emphasis on player conflict and interaction. More emphasis on player crafting & community. Guilds really mattered in these mmorpgs. Today's mmorpg player will never ever experience the thrill of avenging their friends death in pvp. In todays mmorpg pvp death is meaningless. You'll never experience the joy of returning stolen loot back to a friend. I bet you don't even understand my last sentence. Imagine if another player killed your friend in game and stole all his stuff, but then you go and track his killer down, slay him and bring your friends stolen loot back. It used to be like that LONG ago in the golden age of mmorpgs. Have you baked a cake in game and then poisoned it then give it to a random player who then eats it and then dies a slow death right before your eyes?! OF COURSE NOT, you've never played a real mmorpg before!!! Have you ever stolen from another player where the in game mechanics allowed you to do so? No of course not! You're a carebear you don't know what its like. I don't mean it in a bad way. I really don't you just don't know any better! - Free for all PVP. Kill a player anywhere, anytime for any reason we choose. Think for a minute what kind of world this could be. You could kill in the name of good or evil. You could protect players from harm or CAUSE them harm. Back in the old days if we wanted to make another player shut up we would kill them over & over again and they would simply shut up. Now a days if you want a player to shut up you just put them on an ignore list. Back in the old days if you wanted to claim dominance over another guild, you would kill them over & over & over again and claim dominance over them. Now a days the strength of a guild is determined by how well you can grind a PVE instance. I see a lot of posts now a days of people who are looking for a good mmorpg but can't find one. The problem is these so called mmorpgs that are out now ARE NOT REAL MMORPGS. They are instanced and trick you into grinding for gear. That is not what a mmorpg is all about. Mmorpg's are about players interacting with each other in orderly or chaotic ways. The controversey that stems from that is addicting. I strongly urge you to re-think your play style, ITEMS ARE NOT WHAT MAKE A MMORPG GOOD. Currently the only mmorpgs I Know of that cater to ffa pvp'ers are: |

Programming? .. No.. Network Coding? .. No.. 3D Modeling? .. Nope .. Texturing? .. Nope ... Rigging? .. Nope... Animation? ... Nope ... Client/Server architecture? .. Nope... Math? .. Nope .. Concept Art?... YES..... Concept art is the make or break of any mmorpg, you must capture the imagination of your players. I am currently developing a mmorpg. I have access to a powerful 3D engine with network code capable of handling a large number of players. I know how to 3d model, texture, rig and animate. I have a thorough understanding of client/server architecture and a solid mathematical foundation. The one thing I lack is the creativity & ability to draw an immersive world full of interesting looking characters and scenery. Can you draw? Are you really good? You don't realize how valuable you are. If you would like to see your character drawings turned into a 3D MMORPG please send me a message here and we can chat over IM. Celestis |

Darktide is the one world of Turbine Entertainment's Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game Asheron's Call which allows unrestricted player killing. Two aspects of the gameplay of Asheron's Call, namely the ability to dodge projectiles and powerful healing abilities, allows the outcome of combat between players to be determined by the power of the characters and the skill of the players. The cost of death in player versus player combat can be high, and the threat of attack by another player infuses the world with a constant tension. The history of Darktide has been shaped by strong individual players and player guilds. Prolific player killers quickly gain notoriety, and staunch defender's reputations grow as well. Monarchies which control important locations thrive. The storyline dictated by Turbine's monthly updates is optional, but fighting for survival versus other players unavoidably shapes the experience. |

I 've seen these advertisements for ultima online that the kingdom has been reborn. Did they finally revert back to a server from like 1998-2001 ? Is there actually a classic server to play ? Is this what they mean by kingdom reborn? Cuz after about 2001 ultima online died and turned to crap with the tram split.
