How many of you are canceling your pre-orders?

That video was spot on outrageous. The immersion factor is crazy. I need to follow the NPCs more, I see. They have a whole thing of their own going on and I'm missing out when I don't keep in touch with them, it seems.
Forgot to add....no I did not cancel. I pre-purchased and am very happy with the progress of the game thus far. I'm looking forward to release....very excited about it. |

TERA has been released for over a year (in Korea). GW2 is still in beta. And yet in comparisons.....I'm seeing a lot of GW2>TERA, so I'm anxious to see this kind of comparison article WHEN IT'S ACTUALLY MORE FAIR and at least both games have been released. I haven't played TERA so I can't judge it, but GW2 is going to be my new MMO once it's out....that much I can say. I don't like the graphics of TERA and I don't like them enough that I won't be playing it. That's pretty big hate for the graphics there....or should I say art style. Yes, art style. Eww icky gross. GW2.....ahh soft, beautiful, entrancing. |

I care nothing about "battles" unless they're in the game I'm playing. Battles BETWEEN games are idiotic in my opinion. Everyone likes whatever game they like and MOST adults aren't going to easily be swayed just because some other person doesn't like the same thing. What a waste of time reading this thread is.
This should be in General Discussion because it's not about TERA, it's about BOTH games. Having it here just allows for the TERA fans to claim anyone from GW2 camp is "trolling" because we DARE to comment on a thread where our favorite game is mentioned. But then, the OP has listed that they want to play TERA, so I shouldn't be surprised. General Discussion (not on the TERA boards) is where it belongs.

The Elder Scrolls Online: What the Elder Scrolls Online Means for MMORPGs

I have actually always wanted an Elder Scrolls MMO, but at the same time, it's such a huge task and I have worried that it would get really fouled up if it ever happened. So while I agree with your excitement.....I can't say "already 9000x better than GW2," because I have no idea what they're going to do with this HUGE and GREAT intellectual property. There is such a massive possibility of success and also such an overwhelmingly large potential for failure....failure on a level greater than that of SWTOR, I'm afraid. Let's hope against all hope that that does NOT come to fruition, because this could be the greatest MMO of all time. What could match it if it was well done? Nothing. Earth shattering potential both for making us dance for joy or causing us to cry rivers of bitter tears. |

This was my biggest issue with the BWE. My partner and I got to play together all of 15 minutes in Divinity's Reach the ENTIRE weekend. I was a bit unhappy about that. I hope they fix it, because our whole POINT in buying this game was to have a game to play together again. It's been a long time. SO hoping they fix this. |

I'm just wondering, ya know....for me and my partner and for our guild. I don't know if we even have anyone planning on playing an engineer. |

Thank you for explaining what I was trying to say in an earlier post. For some reason you just can't convince some people that there are NO TANKS, NO HEALERS.....PERIOD. It is about damage mitigation, blocking, stunning, whatever it takes to evade damage, more than it is about healing, which cannot possibly be done enough to outheal the damage. You explained this much more eloquently than I could have. Healing is good, it's just not good enough to make "dedicated healers." They still need to control and support and dps some. Everyone needs to be on their toes and do ALL of those things that they CAN. Standing between the ranged and the mobs though is a good point, BUT....I saw mobs change their aggro for no apparent reason all the time. There really just isn't any aggro management (no taunts, for one) in the manner than most people are used to. |

Guild War 2 Might Cost you more than you think
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 5/03/12 10:28:11 AM
Honestly, I don't have any strong feelings about the cash shop either positive OR negative, but I do have to say to THIS comment.....WoW SHOULD be cheaper to play, it's a freakin' dinosaur. Newer games are eventually going to come with newer prices. That's pretty much how life works with some rare exceptions. Prices go up.

Well not ALL GW2 fans did that, I know for a fact. I played SWTOR and I was a GW2 fan the entire time. The best part of SWTOR to me WAS the class quests or personal stories to use the term GW2 uses. I loved the stories. It's actually all that kept me coming back to the game until I finally got bored and quit. Same with the zones. I know at least THIS GW2 fan had never dogged SWTOR's class line of quests or zones. I enjoyed the game very much until....I just didn't enjoy it any more. The exact same thing I will do with GW2. I think GW2 will last longer for me, but that remains to be seen. I'm not a prophet. |

Guild War 2 Might Cost you more than you think

Did someone just REALLY start a thread to warn adults about a potential recreational expenditure and the dangers of it? Really? Really?
These forums get more absurd every single day. |

Then you had someone at the front that knew how to use their blocks, stuns, de-buffs and damage mitigation, as well as dodging. Does that make them a TANK? No. It makes them someone who knows how to play their profession in an optimized manner. Technically, all professions can take turns one on one with the mobs that are being fought, but they will be doing things like blocking, stunning, de-buffing, etc. not "tanking." There is no aggro management and there is no taunt. You have to use your other skills to mitigate damage and then to do damage. Any profession, PLAYED WELL, can do that. And as far as "healers" go.....the "heals" that elementalists have are probably the best and they cannot POSSIBLY outheal damage. They heal for too little. People will have to heal themselves and not rely on an elementalist to keep them up. Those heals are more a small utility than a traditional full blown heal.

I left mine on double tap of WASD which left me free to dodge in any direction necessary. Personally....I think that's better than having it bound to another single key that makes you dodge in only ONE direction. Just double tap one of the WASD keys. And that's the default set up. I don't know....maybe I'm the only one that liked the default? |

In my opinion..... TERA looks like an anime/manga nightmare. Literally, it looks like something from my nightmares. GW2 is lovely, beautiful, stunning. There is no comparison in my book. As a matter of fact, the graphical TURN OFF of TERA is what keeps me from playing it. I can't stand to look at it. GW2, on the other hand, is just beautifully dreamlike. The cities are the most amazing cities I have seen in any game and many of the landscapes were breathtaking.
I want to look at more screenies! Anyone else take any during BWE? I have to admit that I did not. I was too busy paying attention to dodging and about 60 spells (elementalist). Fun times, fun times. :)

I you hate GW2 for some inexplicable reason.....why not just be honest and say so instead of making up an elaborate fabrication?
I certainly didn't cancel my pre-order, since I pre-purchased and the game exceeded my expectations. |

I have it too....."GW2 Effect" or as I'd rather call it "Any Game I'm Anxiously Waiting On Effect." I need a game to play between now and GW2 release, but the old fall backs just don't sound good to me any more. I'm done with SWTOR. WoW might be okay, but I don't know....I've tried that a few times since I left and I always end up disgusted and logging out and deleting it, although maybe pandas might....who am I kidding....just no. EQ2 maybe? I don't know, not even THAT oldie but goodie sounds good now. :( Does anyone have a SERIOUS suggestion as to a game that MIGHT be original enough to hold my attention between now and GW2 release? It needs to be a game I can buy online and I'm not sure that pay to play or free to play really matters to me. Even LotRO sounds blah. Is DCUO any good...it's one I've never played....or STO? TERA just rubs me the wrong way, I hate the graphic style of it and the animations. Just an opinion, nothing more, nothing less. Is there ANYTHING out that warrants a look or that I haven't already played into the ground? Maybe it's time to buy Skyrim? I have D3 pre-ordered at Gamestop, but I'm not sure I want it anymore. Seems to me that they've taken all the Diablo out of it.
/sigh
I have "gamer's depression" me thinks. |

Why the odds are heavily stacked against Guild Wars 2 success
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 5/01/12 2:31:50 PM
Threads are really getting smaller since I started blocking people. I think I will enjoy this site much more in the future. I love it when people can be objective and see both the flaws and achievements in a game, but even the outright fanatics are better than the constant Negative Nellys who never have a positive word to say. Who needs that in their recreational reading material? lol The odds are stacked for GW2 alright. And I know some people that will be very pissed if the game has even a modicum of success. C'est la vie. |
