Last time I asked them, at the Games Convention in Leipzig, there is no final decision on this matter yet. Considering all focus on story and character progression in Aion, I would say that there's definitely a chance for roleplaying servers showing up. We'll just have to wait and see. |

That was a really good hands-on report, which will surely shed some light on this game for many MMO gamers out there. The article can be found here http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/253/feature/2212 |

There's been no official word from NCsoft about a Collector's Edition yet, but it seem likely that one is on its way considering their past releases. Personally, I'm mostly looking forward to a soundtrack cd and perhaps an in-game item. :) |

I'm sorry, the picture belongs to that particular fansite, and it's not in my interest to place it somewhere else. As Roxianna noted however, there's no particular feature to disable the sounds of the wings. My guess is that it counts as Overall Volume. |

Here's a screenshot of the Sound Options menu in the game, courtesy of AionSource.

Korea will start their Open Beta by the end of this year, while EU/NA will experience 'Preview Events' early next year. It's simply too early to decide on a final release date yet, as NCsoft is still working on the various beta phases. They intend to stall the release until the game is finished, though speculation says early 2009. The localisation is progressing well according to the EU offices, and the EU/NA release shouldn't come long after the Korean. |

Originally posted by Zorvan Just to follow up on this question, it's just as mike470 said, I try to stay as informed as possible about the development of Aion, and report to the best of my abilities based on that knowledge. I've spend these last few days at the Leipzig GC 08, to learn more about the specifics of the gameplay mechanics. The NCsoft people are very open about their title, and I've had the opportunity to play the game, albeit at lower levels.
Originally posted by Craynlon I didn't mean that the Asian market expects the grind per se (though they've certainly been less hostile about it), but that our market expects everything from Asia to follow the same pattern. Aion isn't following that pattern, it simply doesn't play that way. Anyway, my next article will be more specific, and touch more on the actual gameplay. I'm happy for the comments though.

MMOs can't survive with this level of complaining!
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/18/08 7:49:19 AM
As long as a game is released in a finished state, and is fun to play, it will always survive, because the trolls won't have anyone to complain too. We'll all be too busy playing. ;) |

Yes, that was very impressive. Must've been part of some kind of competition of sorts, since they use the official logotype? Anyways, *Clap clap* |

According to NCsoft themselves it only affected a few teams working on unannounced projects, and the developers working on bringing Dungeon Runners to the consoles. Aions community teams should be on the safe side of things. ;) |

As someone said earlier in this thread, it's not the Q2 report that will look bad, but the ones after. They've had strong box sales, and quite a lot of people have probably been paying at least one additional month after the retail free month was over, just to hang in there. ;) |

I admit that I haven't played much Perfect World, but from what I've seen, Aion is playing in a different league. The Character Creation IS a lot more in-depth than that of Perfect World (I've had the privilege to get some hands-on experience with both), and I don't believe the latter focuses as much on end-game PvP guild-battles, as Aion do with "The Abyss". The whole PvPvE aspect, not to mention the Stigma system, surely aren't found in PW either. We will have to wait for the final judgement on release day. I give you that, PW could probably best be described as an "Aion light", so no wonder that you've seen some similarities. |

Aion: Preview Events in Lieu of Open Beta Test

The Korean closed beta had a very lightweight NDA, where information pretty much poured out by itself, so I don't think it's a matter of hiding the game. I would instead argue that it's an administrative decision, though my guess is as good as yours. |

Could be, but there's no official word on that yet. |

Ayase why don't you answer the question about possible micropayments in Aion?

There has not been any indication of this coming to Europe/US though, and there should be no need to worry about someting like that at these early stages. Ayase and the rest of the NCsoft EU/US crew are well aware of what we western players think of such systems. You do realise ncsoft opened up a micro payment system using something they call NCoin and that the first game to use this micropayment system was a free game called Exteel, a scifi third person shooter where you command a huge mech...developed for the US... So im sorry your comment about ncsoft "knowing what EU/US want" in regards to this payment system is complete speculation on your part.
You do realise that for a non-subscription game, micro-transactions are critical for its survival? Aion is in another league... but you're right, I have no facts, so it's all speculation on my part. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I did know about the NCoin deal though. |

What wings do you think are cooler looking for Asmodians
General Discussion « Aion 7/28/08 8:48:55 AM
Yes, we're finally able to make small, cute, cuddle-friendly little death angels, just as feathery as the Elyos!
Naa, just kidding, I'm not gonna try and take away the coolness from the Asmodians (is that even possible?). As someone mentioned, the new wings makes more sense to the lore, and from before the Asmodians were revealed, I think these wings were the ones people were expecting and hoping for anyways. Perhaps Aions dev team were simply too ambitious, when all we wanted was some darker colours? |

In what way was this surprising to you, and exactly what are you dissatisfied over? That they put in levels? That they put in quests? As far as I'm concerned, I prefer quests over traditional grinding. You can at least try to give AoC credit for the things it does right. |
