my wife calls my computer her enemy, so what you complaining about?

Doubtful, Sony still has tight reins on the technology and there's not much demand. As soon as we get better internet technology in a few years, we won't be using optical disks of any kind.

It certainly seems to me that Sony is dropping the ball on blu ray. It should have been much bigger by now. I am doubtful about PC games going blu-ray as it seems easier to download it digitally. But I don't agree that we won't ever use optical disks - or rather at least there will always be some need for physical storage that you can bring with you, especially considering the policing of the Internet and the fight against downloading. If the music/film industry succeeds in barring users who download stuff from using the Internet, then there is even more need of offline storage.

Too bad for the movie/music industry that some time in the future a complete music and film library can be stored in something of the size of a fingernail. ... Police that!

After reading all the reports and official release it seems more like FC is moving that 20% staff from Oslo to the much cheaper Montreal, which on top offers to return 30someting% back in salaries to the companies locating there.

FC offered a relocation package to the staff members affected by this cuts (no word on if to all of them or how many) and is actively hiring in the recently set Montreal studio.

60 people are potentially losing their job in Oslo and potentially receiving the option to relocate to Montreal, Montreal is gonna have a TSW focus according to the GD, so it's no wonder it has little impact on other FC projects and developments.

TSW, however is facing a potential big loss of workforce (they had stated 100 people working on the title in their financial report for the past quarter) and of those 60 people being either let go to rehire in Montreal or that will be relocated there (eventually) should be mostly TSW development crew and some administrative positions.

Sucks for TSW, if you ask me, the "delay" itself is meaningless as no date has been given for anything in regards to that game, but having to make this kind of adjustment in the middle of production can't be fun.

With the kind of incentives the city of Montreal is giving to companies to locate there i can't blame anyone willing to do it.

good points

Good news!

But too bad if TSW is delayed..

The game was awesome! A real epic.

But o my God it was PAINFUL to dock the flights !!

If only it had a lot more money behind it.

Unfortunately many of the great concept games made by smaller / indie developers seems to suffer from this problem.

Mortal Online, Fallen Earth, Darkfall to mention a few ...

I hope Earthrise is not next. I love the idea of indie developers and the games they try to make, but that doesn't mean I will play games with 1990s graphics or pay monthly fees to beta test or pay for something with no pve or no pvp content.

I want the complete package... lol

Wow I didn't know mmorpg.com had so many self-proclaimed moderators these days. At least in the FFXIV part of the forum. But maybe I missed the part of the forum rules where it said four threads pr. day was disallowed?!?!?

That aside, to the OP, I think your idea is very valid. The idea of having more content for your character to do and more progression etc. But one has to wonder about how it would work since the two games skills and detailswise will probably not be alike.

Also it would be time-travel, no? Aren't the two games taking place a long time apart? Next is how to approximate the characters looks since the character creator is bound to be vastly different.

So I don't think it is easy to versionize each character across games. And a potential pandora's box for developers. One more thing to add would be new and old server technology that would have to inter-mesh.

Anyways have a nice day!

The character creation system is great and lots to fun. Creating your character is more enjoyable than actually playing the character.

Your character looks good when you create it but once you start playing the graphics change to a comic style with black outlines. This art-style is awful. When you zoom out your character looks like it's blurry. It was so horrible I actually canceled my subscription.

Guess I'll have to play Warhammer while I wait for Aion to be released.

Seriously. Horrible gfx...

I love the art style and art creator. I only tried the beta for two levels due to vacation, but what is truly holding me back is the gameplay and lack of thoughts going in to the open skill system...

It is pure speculation at this point

How could anyone compare these games? the space setting?

Eve's been around six years, It's evolved for six years. While Sto is in what alpha?

What do you do? Wake up one day and go "These games are Sci-fi, Lets make a VS thread!!!!" with no real thought behind it?

As a oldschool Trekker I look forward to STO but to even consider putting this game in the same sentence as EvE is crazy talk.

I don't hate Aion. I just don't care about it!

aye, but the developers of JGE are aware of it, if they weren't it wouldve already been released and wouldve already flopped.

You think waiting helps? With Black Prophecy looming. EVE going FPS integration? WoW with a new expansion. AoC expansion.

And later FFXIV, GW II, SW ToR, The Secret World, etc. etc.

They can wait as long as they want, but the market is still over-saturated the next five years at least.

There are tons of f2p games coming out too and they increase in quality all the time..

Yeah definitely. You only get one shot. Releasing a product early is the only certain way to fail these days, judging by many recent releases. If you want the game to fail, lobbying for an early release is your best bet.

I never lobby for early releases. Ever!

Why are the story of quests in Text anyway, that is simply dumb.

If I wanted to read text I'd go borrow a book from the library, not sit on my chair looking at 24' monitor while playing a >3D< game that could do so much more than just produce simple text as an excuse for 'story'. Disgusting.

The developers should use the technology over books to their advantage. Why make an e-book when you could create epic cutscenes and dialogue to tell the story instead?

oh I do agree and feel SW:Tor might be that change. Still not convinced about the game in a MMORPG sense, but am becoming more intrested in it pure in a gamers sense.

I am waiting on a Milo type of interaction within this genre, though we might see it first in singleplayer games. Check link if unknown with Milo.

Don't forget tech is still taking baby steps.

I for one don't mind reading. But for God's sake let's have some more sandbox mmos...

DCU looks like a complete failture to me.

I was in the Closed Beta. All I can say is that is looking very good! And Im very anxious about the Campaign Map stuff, because is going to be the core of this game.

I wouldn't mind try it out for a weekend..

NC Soft are not exactly mmo rookies... I am sure they are ready to crack out new servers when needed, but no reason to overextend by day one...

Look sick !  But i've seen great videos before that turned to be nothing but fake.  Will have to wait and see if gameplay is actually like that.

At least it looks pretty fresh compared to most new mmos recently...

Definitely on my watch list!
