I was never irritated in a game than i became in EVE...

So whats it all about. After one year  i decided to give EVE a new shot. Im still on my 14 days trial - day 3. Start was fun and i like the game. Then i got  into Jita system where i had to fill missions. And gg here... i lost 2 Merlin shiips due to extreme lags. Afterwards i couldnt log on this char at all or taking extreme times (some 5 - 10 minutes) to get even online. I was so pissed so i created a new char which i could log on easily and opened a petition (not answered still yeat after 48 hours).

My friend (playing eve for few years alread) said that mistake was on my side definitley so i reinstalled the game , changed my firewall and tried to smooth traffic.. well whatever it takes to have a fun play.

Afterwards i read on the general chat stuff about Jita (too much traffic goes there etc.). Well ... how the  hell im as rookie supposed to know that? And why they put newbie missions in that extremley laggy system? And why they dont fix it all? Guess they know about it for some time already...

So after 1 hours of horrible tries i jumped out of Jita and could be able to start chatting, use my ship again (thx to my friend who sent me some money otherwise i would quit for good). So i got advice from the rookie volunteer program helpers.. "find another agent" so iafter lots of questions i found a new agent..

Now guess what.. the new agent sending me on new mission to Jita.. gg CCP.

I play only wow beside my EVE trial now.. never happened that i got my ticket open for more than 24 hours. Usualy GM answers within few hours with some advice / statement. Nothing happened in EVE.

Well im going to stil ltry plaing / looking for new agents etc. but... this has made a very bad impression on me and i wanted to share this experience with you.

well... ive read ALOT about Vanguard, SOE etc. I dont care about the past, who done what etc.

I decided to purchase the game some 1 week ago. And my feelings are contoversial about the game. Few things i think are worth to be mentioned about the game.

Crafting: very lovley, unique, fun and puts on you really pressure sometimes.

10/10

Performance: man i was so afraid of this. I dont have a crappy PC i think - i run most of games with 80 FPS+ (core2duo, 4GBRAM, 7800GTS). But Vanguard made me worry. I would enjoy the game much more if i woudlnt lag with every second move i made. I think its the game killer nr. 1 still in my opinion. Sometimes it runs really smooth but overall simply lags. Also i cant alt-tab for somereason without the game needs to be closed and restarted.

4/10

Graphics: Dunno what are the guys were so impressed about. Some locations are really very nice (i like the gnomes city inside the mountains) but overall nothing revolutionary really. Many of todays singleplayers games have much better graphics i think.

7/10

Classes / Characters: Very strong side of Vanguard. I like the character creation / options of classes and races. In my opinion this is what EQ 2 needs to become a perfect game in my eyes. I play Necromancer in VG and it would be really entertaining if theere wil lbe no lag in the game.

9/10

Diplomacy, quests etc.: Diplomacy is unique and i found it fun. Quests like many ppl said nothing diff. from WoW or EQ2 (and i sont think its a shame).

8/10

Bugs fixing: for me i oculd see bugs all over the place and its pretty annoying. Merchant standing in the air middle of his tent, need to dismiss my pet so often because he simple doesnt listen when i push his icons after zoning / teleporting / swimming and many other similar stuff makes you wonder.. HOW THE HELL THEY DIDNT FIX THIS BASIC STUFF ALREADY. I mean havent they noticed it? havent anyone reported it? I dont have any logic explanation to this other than they are simply not working enough on the game.

4/10

Overall if you ask wether i would spend 46 USD again in this game. I would tell you no sorry and on 80% im not going to prolong my account further. Not because its not good. But because other available options in the market areuch better at last. I would love to build my own house and craft my boat in an MMO.. but sorry i dont want to suffer in my play i want to enjoy it!

WoW's PvE raids + WAR's pvp sieges= 1 happy custumer (if it lives up to expectations). Sure I'm not going to be the only one either :)

i can only agre.  my though is that WoW is going  to take even more triumphs of  WAR still before its launch.

WAR should have been here already :(

just let me say this, when WAR comes out, i won't be surprised if other game companies(blizzard, nc soft, etc.) lose some major cash, i heard the beta test is better than Wow.

I would be suprised if it does happen actualy. Mythic trying hard but i dont think they have managed to generate as much hype as WoW managed to do at its start.

To me life of a good mmorpg game only last 5 yrs then its time to move on to another new game.  So alot of ppl are tire of  EQ2, WoW, EVE, UO, DAOC,  etc.

Agree in some way. Change is always needed. I think the titans batlle now (WoW vs upcming WAR) will show how much this theory can be applied to large community numbers. WoW came with innovation in the last 2 years but i dont see them as drastic imrpovements to keep me playing this game for another  2 years even.

I'll play the game regardless but voted "bad thing". Currently I'm subscribed to 6 different forums in order to stay on top of any new developments that happen wit the game. Quite frankly that's a pain in the ass. I'd rather have one site I can go to every day to see if there is something new and exciting going on. It's certainly not a game breaker for me but official forums are just part of good customer service in my opinion.

I can only agree with you Deathstiny.

Central forums are simply a need. In WoW there so many rumors going around about every future aspect of game. Only when a "blue" post comes out then its 100% confirmed/rejected. And yes i dont want to browse xx forums to find out this.

WAR is very PVE centric title, regardless of what others might have misinformed you. It is nothing like Shadowbane or UO, etc. Next, PVE'ers want balance just as much as PVPers.

May i ask how did you come to this conclusion. As far as i seen in official presentation most of talk is about PvP hype of WAR. i never heard so far that this game is to address PvE players. Even the expectaions from WoW community for example are towards PvP in WAR not PvE.

First of all never say never, right?  Secondly, the PVP in this game will probably evolve as most MMOs have, servers will be heavy on both end of the spectrum. Mythic will end up developing patches that will have plenty of PvE in it. The WAR players will have plenty of PvE as well as some pretty cool RvR gameplay. If anything the market will jock WAR just for trying some "new" things.  DOAC players wont feel like its all that new or ingenous, but to the rest of the gaming population(WoW refugees) it will be a very welcome change of pace.

Well can you imagine how much work is behind any pve content. I doubt that Warhammer wil come with as descent PvE content as WoW did (except for the leveling period maybe).

There was a really good interview with the CEO of Guild Cafe given recently on Gamasutra. He made a very good point as I see it on why Official Forums aren't really that beneficial.

www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php

To what degree do you think developers and publishers rely on outside community with MMOs?

Originally, it was more about trying to control the community by creating some in-house forums run by overworked moderators. Now it is about engaging in conversations with your players and prospective customers. Those conversations happen everywhere—on outside forums, on blogs, on places like GuildCafe. The in-house forums are a tiny minority of very dedicated players; to really grok your community you need to go outside your walls and interact with people.

Official forums are and always have been the vocal minority of a player base. To really understand your community, you need to visit these fan operated sites as more of your community uses those far more than they use any kind of official forum. Mythic has just decided that the vocal minority isn't what they want to focus on. They've also said if you don't want to play their game because they don't have official forums, that also is alright with them.

The whole aspect of a lower monthly payment with the lack of official forums is flawed. What it allows them to do is hire another programmer, or another artist, or put that money into a different system that can be of a greater benefit than some website a tiny minority of the playerbase will post on that ends up with no real discussion of any true value.

Good point BUT imo you have to learn mixing both ways. WoW can be again a good example.

IMO it's great!

less whine you  say?

Depends on game quality after all. WoW was and still big experiment about how far can PvE attract new players while keeping current ones paying. So i gueess we can only wait and see.

Bad thing imo.
