This is just bunch of speculations and personal opinions. I like Wii, someone likes PS3 while some like Xbox...none of MMO games i played doesnt have non instanced world like WoW, or at least it doesnt look like its instance, no loading times when you walk from are to area.

Players who think WoW is boring are usualy players who like more "solo" playing. WoW become more guild and friends depending. Solo players get bored soon because there is not much to do...

4 hours later they released another wave of alpha invites...FIFO stile like first time...

and...saying that you are in closed alpha is clear breaking of NDA ... cccc

im sure that after two weeks kids who tought "ooo a free game" will give up when they realise their character will be reseted 20 times, they will have to download daily patches, they will have limited area to play in etc...+ client crashes and who knows what

They may reach a number like EvE has now but it will take some time (as it took for EvE).

The success or fail of WAR, the expansion of WoW (whatever it's called), Aion and the rest of the incoming games will hurt or help DF's numbers.  For example, imo, AoC ended up helping DF more than hurting it.

DF is a niche game but if WAR, for example, is a success, some people that could had played DF will be playing WAR until they get burned of it.  The same for the rest of games.

But I do think they can sell 50k copies in the first 6 months even if the other incoming games are a succeed.

i think that Darkfall idea and concept sounds soo good that it will never loose fanbase...even if he dont release video this month, even if he doesnt releae game this or next year.

Darkfall forums have 200 - 300 visitors in allmost every given moment...not even AOC have that much visitors haha

mmorpg.com have that much visitors sometimes...

i must say im impressed...alltho it confuses me what all those people do..i posted several posts etc but beating dead horse over and over...no new info to analise haha

i cant go over fact that they dont wana show more ingame clips (longer than 10 seconds) showing AI, random spot and gameplay...for that you need 1 minute...no mather do you need to teleport from one location to another or whatever...

they use to and they would always say beta they had to put a stop to it when they merged with aventurine ..

Well Fallen Earth Developers posted more than 1 hour of ingame videos and clips + tons of pictures. They are in development for 5 years so its not much different than darkfall development but Aventurine didnt give 5% of data about Darkfall how much Icarus studios posted data about Fallen Earth.
 

I would really like to see Darkfall release with all features i just dont understand developers...you must admit that is something strange.

Its not like Icarus dont want their game to be polished, they are still in developement but they talk to their fanbase ... Aventurine doesnt comunicate in any way.

Anyway, noone force them to say when release date will be, noone force them to say when beta will be...i mean its not like they have gun pointed to their heads so they have to say it...and breaking all promises till now reminds me to Funcom...as bad example

Alltho i would really like to see Darkfall released i dont understand developers.

Firstly, darkfall isnt only game that was in development for long. Fallen Earth, Tabula Rasa...bouth of them were (are) in loong development...but you got alot of materials (not screen shots but actual gameplay)

Fallen Earth is lately on my mind because it will hit beta in few months and soon release (i hope), by that time you have about 30 minutes of actual gameplay shown on youtube, + several diferent clips showing game mechanics and models....while from Darkfall you have 3x10 second clip

Darkfall developers should learn to comunicate with fanbase!!!!

this issue should be approached from seveal sides:

A - If game dont get released > vaporware

B - if game do release but developers dont implement all features promised but they are written on box:
- in this scenario game would start with maybe 100 000 players, but since developers are slow and they lack of comunication game would flop with maybe 20 000 - 30 000 players

C - game get released but without all features and players know that:
- again it would start with less numbers, maybe like 50 000 leaving only hardcore players at end

D - game get released with all features:
- that would be best possible scenario, wih 100 000 sold games at start and in next 6-8 months maybe 50 000 more

Best possible scenario what is (im sure) only imagination is to make DX9 game with nice GFX and all promised fatures, great customer support and updates coming frequently...that would get Darkfall to 250 000 player base, and maybe more!

Anyway i belive if we see day that Darkfall get released number of players would be somewhere arround 250 000.

Since its too hardcore game for carebears i think it wont hurt major population of WoW/AOC/WAR players but it will fill in gap for people who want something more hardcore.

numbers in poll doesnt mean anything because some of visitors of that forum arent fans they are fanatics.
