Imagine you owned the company... then remember the goal of your business is probably to make money... if people will pay it... how can you justify to your stockholders that even though people would pay $60 you thought it would be better to charge $20 ... having said that... diable3 doesn't have the replay value (for many reasons, like low lvl cap) so i bet people won't be paying $60 to buy (lease really, cause you don't own if if you have to log in to their servers, eh) diablo 4 ... blah |

Well... if they take anothe 12 years before diablo 4, my resentment my subside enough for me to concider buying it... but i doubt it...
to offer no offline mode (their lame ass attempt of drm) for this kind of game is unforgivable... especially now that I "own" the game and just want to play all by myself, with no other peeps, no auction house, no achievments... blah blah blah...
and where are all the customization options? i haven't played beta, but in the 2 mins i've been able to get into the game today... it seems insanly cookie cutter (especially for a non mmo game...)...
good god... there must be some good stuff hiding in this thing yet... |

wait is not over yet!!! still can't log in to my single player game! In the future, i will go out of my way to support companies that destroy their games witht their DRM crap... |
|
|
But for sure... they could of made it so you could still play in single player without logging in, and still get the benifits of online play (someone mentioned, less cheaters...) ...
this sets such a bad precidient :( |

I played if for the first time this month. I was pretty surprised how much i liked it. I can see where many would hate it, but if you're looking fo something different, and a bit slower paced combat than your normal mmorpg, i think many will like this. Note, my play experience is based of playing with an xbox controller, and alienware laptop with an nvidia GTX 580 video card. / The craziest thing about this game is actually trying to pay for it... they really make you jump through some hoops to give them your money... (puts a bad taste in your mouth right from the get go)...
Havign said that, what i hate most is that with tall the running around you have to do , the environment feels very small to me... like all navigation from one area to another feels like i'm running through a tunnel or something... the terrain does't allow a lot of deviation. The other annoying thing is the slight "menu lag" when i do anything... it seems like every little thing you do must have to hit the server to see if it's OK before proceeding...
just my 2 cents... |

i played rfit for a month perhaps when it first came out... i liked it..
i cancelled my swtor account and downloaded the free trial for rift... its great! the world feels so much more alive, and the classing system allows so much variation... can't remember why i left... i'll have to do a search and see what the critics don't like... seems awesome to me!

30 sith assasin - then canceled sub I was underwhelmed with the "graphics" (art style or whatever you want to call it). from the beginning... but for me the gameworld felt closterphobic and dead ... lifeless ... I can't put my finger on it. and for me personally, i felt like i ws spending way too much time surrounded by walls or "invisible" walls. they just failed to create a world that i wanted to "explore" and/or "iive in". best of luck to the rest of you... i thought the story and voice acting were extemely well done and interesting, but just not enough ...
-- no immersion (for me at least) |

I dont' believe there is any lvl 30 pvp gear... i'm still in the lvl 20 stuff... next stuff doesn't appears till lvel 40... so yes you can just pvp... but... from 20 on, you'll be wearing worse and worse gear compared to others... but if you do class quests i think that might be enough. personally, i cancelled my account today...
world just feels dead |

What makes current MMOG gameplay so dull and boring
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/30/11 9:34:55 AM
Maps are the problem, lol!
Personally, i hate games with crappy maps now a days, but way way way back, when i first played Asheroon's Call, there was no map. I had no idea how big the world was, what was out there, how far the next town was. I'll never forget that first time i ventured out to explore and made it to the next town, and then mistakenly bound there. All the mobs where then way to high. Everytime i tried to backt to my starting village i died and dropped more armor. Before I knew it, i was naked and begging for an escort as night settled in. I'll never forget that escorted run back ... best hour or so of gamming in my life. I can't remember if we had a rador back then, but nasty scary mobs kept crawling out of everywhere, and i was only 1 or 2 hits from dead. My escort would try to engage and just kept screaming at me to not stop... run run run!!!! I think my heart reate must of been 180! maybe it's only because it was my first mmorpg, or because i was only 20 ish at the time... but man! that was some funness :)
I also use to enjoy the social aspect of SWG (pre nge of course :)). Setting up a camp in the middle of nowhere would draw passing travels to come watch the dansers around the campfire... those were the days... :) |

If you had 30 days house rest and a time machine, what MMO would you play?

Why all the bitching about Eve's Online shop and non about AOC. It appears to me that you can now purchase a lot more than just vaniity items.... Armor , weapons, and more....
