The comming of WAR: how do you think it will change WoW?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 9/06/07 12:04:38 AM
The statement wasn't made about a country it was made about asians and there are many asians living in the west, south, north, and east.
Besides I think it's a little hypocritical claiming that asian countries like grinding when proportionaly more americans play grinding games compared to the total population. http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats2.htm
just look at the internet penetration rate, more people use the internet proportionaly than in any other area of the world. now look at asia http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats3.htm
So you see that if you did a statistical analysis the probability of more people playing games online in this country proportionaly to other countries is much greater. It's comparing a 13 percent penetration rate to a 69 percent penetration rate. There is basicly no room there for any form of statistical error that would lead to the conclusion otherwise, but there still is a small small chance that I could be wrong.

The comming of WAR: how do you think it will change WoW?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 9/05/07 9:13:45 PM
I like the idea of competition which will improve wow because I am a fan of the game and if it had more pvp I would play it more religiously.
To be honest however I don't see war taking more then a couple thousand subscribers, as in 20-40,000 tops because that's ruffly the percentage of people who play wow now that could actually run the game on there computers. Remember most people who play wow are playing on labtops that they got for college or on old systems that they have back home, and considering that 90 percent of people who play wow are under 40 but older than 17 it seems to me that most simply won't even be able to play it. Now this doesn't mean they won't buy it, I remember I bought games before i knew about computer hardware that didn't work, but it means that it will probably piss them off if they have to run it in sub standard settings. Why play a game on a rig that is optimized for osmething more powerful when you can play a game optimized for your own rig. It just looks better. And yes the graphics in WAR are better objectively but how they will look with all the settings down is anyways guess. VG looked great with settings all maxed out but when you put it on default or medium the game looks worse than wow in my opinion and I believe that other people feel this way too. I don't mean to be a graphics stickler but when the graphics look bad, as in designed badly not high res in this case, I just can't play because I feel that there's another game out there that isn't necessarily prettier but more ergonomic to my eyes. I guess I just have ocd when i see a random artifact or something on the screen in an offbeat res that's supposed to be part of the avatar screen or something. Know what i mean? Just my opinion. |

Just extending his analogy and thought process. Based on his complaint that stealth isn't realistic, he would ultimately conclude that a game in itself is not realistic and must therefore cease to play since he also wants stealth to cease existing. |

It's pretty strait forward if I were you I would go warrior, mage, then priest. Ofcourse a priest can be an offensive spell caster and a healer depending on how you spec. A warrior gets boring fast and a mage might satisfy your casting needs. If you want to cast and attack well then pic a hybrid class like a druid or shaman, warriors get no magic what so ever.
If your goign to pvp at all start on a pvp server you won't actually start fighting in world pvp till later on so there's no point in leveling twice.
Best of luck. |

I say wow, get in before it's too late and new and better games come out...EQ2 and and COV are something of the past. |

Originally posted by bonobotheory What exactly do you mean by wow was marketed towards a different audience than most other mmorpgs? How so? Please explain, I mean the advertizements are in the same magazines as they were always and i haven't seen any wow commercials with 14 year olds in it so why would you say that wow is marketed to a different demographic oh say than lineage II or everquest II? Please explain because I played EQII i'm in my mid 20's and I feel that wow is catered to the same demographic. |

What is the point of these posts? To claim that wow has a worse playerbase then any other game is absurd since every game has just about had the same players in it. Look at EQ2. Everyone whose played EQ2 or mostly everyone has played wow and were part of the same playerbase they now critisize. It's insulting to humanity to make these ignorant statements and it makes absolutely no sense what so ever. I play EQ2, vanguard, wow and of all the games i enjoy wow the most, not because it has the best combat system but because i can actually play it, meaing when i push attack, I attack. IN vg, eq2 and anything else I just have to time everything right according to latency and its a dog fest that gives you carpal tunnel in the long run. But the reason i mentioned i play all these games is beause I have a right to speak up and tell you that the community right now in VG is by far the worst ever. Go into a pvp or pve server and listen to the public channels. In wow when you call someone a nI*g*r you get banned but in these other games nothing happens and that's why the communities are worse, not beause of the playerbase, since hte same players in wow would say the same crap if they could.
Everyone is human, everyone's iq is between the ranges of 100-200, and everyone has two arms and two legs unless they've lost them some how. What makes 100,000 people from random places different than another cohort 100,000 people from random places. Absolutely nothing because the sample is still from planet earth..

I play a stealther cause i like to roleplay a thief or rogue...lol wtf does this have to do with pvp mechanics? No offesne but now i know why I never played warhammer the board game, cause its a lame fantasy game that triees to be different than the rest. Which it fails at miserably by the way WOW will not lose many subscriptions to warhammer. Warhammer is a game that will only appeal to people between the ages 22-30 firstmost, second it is a game that will be a simplified version of DAOC. |

No stealth? Come on are they serious, they are trying to be inovative by removing one of the most integral parts of 1/3 of all players gaming style?
IT doesnt make sense, wasn't there stealth in WAR?
What about the assassin? where is the assasin? |

Sauron is nothing compared toe hLich King. The Lich King is entirely original..WTF are you talking about? Name me one game with a Lich King like the one that's going to be in wow.
Also, no offense but I consider wow more orginal than lotr. Lotr was a synergy of christianity and traditional folk mythology. I can't stand noobs who read lotr and then its the be all end of all of all fantasy. IT's not, its a book written by a christian man that symbolises the wars going on during that time, or that's what he said he wrote it about.
Yes he borrows from folklore like all tehse games too and before tolkien people were telling stores along the same lines. The imagination will do this, and always has, since the begining of man. Stop reducing schemas over things an dstart learning that trolling is rediculous in nature and aw aste of your own time. |

Vanguard: Too early to go back?
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 8/17/07 12:14:54 PM
Yeah but in vanguard you can get coin from killing players. With all the gold farmers and twinks I find it actually very lucrative to pk and gank jigs in vanguard. Also I am burnt out on daoc as i played it for three years. |
