GamerDNA launches way to discover games that fit your tastes Dean Takahashi | December 15th, 2008

As I read the artical I was some what interested in finding games that fit my gaming style etc.

The site looks promising, but time will tell if this is just another way to generate income. I must admit I like the look an feel of the site.

No hate intended, if you visit the site an try the game all will be revealed. As they say the proof is in the pudding.

I just tried SigmaStorm, Could the advertising staff here in mmorpg refrain from advertising LAME RETRO GAMES? I try to be very open minded when I look at a game but this one took the cake, the cake pan and the oven it was made in. When I say retro game think about a mix of pong an a old turn based mmo or possible  a mud. If you dare to take a looks see here is the link: www.sigmastorm2.com

Warning: This game could be hazardus to your gaming experance.

Don't say I did not warn you.

p.s. Dont let the game intro fool you like it did me.

Seems to me that if someone is sooo in love with PvP they would play WoW. I can see why  someone that can't play WoW with any success would want another  PvP game. So each to their own. In my fantasy game there would be a balance of the different gaming styles. More important is the fact we are all gamers and it would be nice if we just learn to be considerate of others choices. IF we were all the same we would be clones........ How boring that would get?

Break down of play styles:

PvP: Aka Adrenalin rush, Like any other addiction over time it takes more to get the same rush.

PvE: Aka  Some adrenalin rushs, like PvP it requires some thought  and research to be good at it.

( This includes players that like to craft , mine etc. )  The point of this is we all play games to enjoy them not to become player haters. Here is some food for thought... If Dev's took crafting etc out of the game and you had to pay what ever for ingame items. there would be no way to talk a npc into a lower price for a given item. Maybe thats is what you want a streight up hard core PvP game where you do not get dropped items from player kills.  Few ways to make the required gold to buy items with and no way to make them.  Ummmm that could be the next wave of PvP f2p games. becareful what you wish for........

Thanks grunty , ever have one of those days where you see something an tou realize what it is but nothing else clicks in?  I knew it was a fps but I did not think about this site bing for mmorpg's  ( hits self in forehead.. doh )

so basicly this is just a filler in the game list, unless someone explains how to use a blackhole server to play it.

America Army. I looked for it on the games list.. no luck , I was also unable to locate cost to play on the game site.

I see alot of good ideals here, now where are those dev's when we need them?  har har har.

Well at least we know what we would like to see in a game. It would be nice if some dev's took a look at this post... Mean while keep those ideals coming, who knows we might get a visit from santa.

Best wishs for the up coming holidays to all

Could this become a serious challenger to EVE online? As I scanned the ss I was pleasently surprised to see another decently looking space based game. I was disappointed to see it is p2p instead of a micro system. ( f2p ) This may be a game to test play for those that are bored with the f2p grinds.

Today I seen a CNN news cast that stated that Dell will soon be charging  a fee for asking for and using   English speaking tech support here in the U.S.A.  That's right folks you will now be stuck with the tech support from India.  Is this a thinly veiled attempt to force Dell users into using under qualified people as tech support.  ( Under qualified: Can not speak understandable English )

Personally I never cared for a Dell even though they bought out Alien Ware. This move was viewed by some as a sweep away of the competition to the XPS system, on the other hand it was viewed as a way to improve the xps. Sad to see such a cool looking cool looking laptop slip into history. So if you are thinking of buying a new computer keep in mind it will cost you to buy a Dell one way or another.   Is their product so well made that tech support is not that important?

Dell users please render your opinion

I ran through the list a few games drew my attention. Like AA, is that a f2p or p2p game?

It would be of great help if this info was included with the game discription. Thank you for posting this list.

your wait is just about over soon you will have a chance to join the cb testers in playing this interesting game.

Being a cb tester I am bound by my agreement  with the game providers not to disclose a lot of things. But I will try to drop you a few hints here an there.  My first impressions: Decent graphics, I expect there will be some improvements in this area. GUI has a familiar look to it, with a standard control key set. Game play is interesting and somewhat complex  from the discovery point of view. ( now how do I do this or that? )

I expect that a lot of things will change in the ob and I am looking forward to playing it. Hope to see you there even if it is for a look see. So drop in an give it a run, we would love to hear about what you think.

 Thanks for spotting my typo.

Next Gen game, ummmm

The trend seems to be goal oriented i.e. grind to level a char. personally I like crafting and marketing.  Part of the problem I see in some of the f2p games is the lack of a immersive story line and environment.

I think a sandbox approch is a good start... Maybe toss in hidden easter eggs that change location when found by a player.  Players like to feel like they have accomplished something. ( once I realized that f2p games are just a grind for my cash I got bored trying to level my chars, can anyone say lack of interesting content? ) Npc evolution would be good to.

Lets try some imaging:  you and your guild mates go out into the wilderness you slay some monsters, collect items to build a town with player run shops etc. When the town gets to a given size it comes under attack by a hoard of npc monsters, or another guild, maybe a combonation of both. Is your guild storng enough to fend off the attack? will your town be taken over by the opposition? will it be bruned to the gouund? or just looted?

This leads us the to a open structure type of game, ( for every action there is a equal an opposit reaction. ) Say there are some starter npc stores with the basic items swords tools etc. It would be up to a player to pursue skills in order to make more advanced items. This opens the market up to crafters etc. Please no compersions to other games, the purpose of this is to get some fresh thinging going.

Please check the poll

Seems there is a proliferation of of hack an slash grind games on the net these days. After going through several games of this genre. (some in beta) I have just gotten plan ole bored .  So much so I have pulled out my ps2 from storage and started looking at a stack of purchased games yet to be played. some of them not so appealing now.  Something is lacking and I can't seem to put my finger on it. Mind you I have played RS, Wurm online, 12sky, 2Moons, LastChaos and EVE to name a few. I found EVE to be interesting but economics forced a change in my gaming habits. So now I am wondering the net in search of something new. I searched the listings here on mmorpg an surfed the net some. To my dismay I find few games that have moved away from the ole hack an slash as a main stay for player entertainment.

I love to test  new games inspite of massive lag when the servers are under stress testing. But I have yet to find a game that seems to have a more balanced approch to the story baseline.  CNN had a brief informitive news filler on 12/7/08. It provided some stats on online gaming. 25% of online gamers are over the age of 50, 45% of online gamers are betwen the ages of 20 to 50. ( do not quote me on this last part ) What does this mean? It means that when a person gets a taste of a game they like they remain a gamer for life. So maybe it might be wise to keep this in mind when developing a game.

I downloaded this game got my acc hooked up. I played for about 6 hours and could not figure out how to complete the first quest. At first the game was unresponsive to the controls or extremly laggy. No it is not my isp (cable at 2 mb) nor my hp DV9317. (I played EVE on it ) The game does have nice graphics and would really benifit from some form of player support via forums. To me the game had the feel of an open beta. So if you are looking for something to tinker with this would be a good game.

Are you tired of the same ole grind of hack and slash games? Are you looking for something that will challange your intellect?

Wellll your search is over, you Are looking at a thinking persons game now. Eve is not for everyone it is a game that requires a lot of thought and has a challanging learning curve.Using the in game tutorials a player walked through the controls and game play.

After I played on the 14 day free trial,  ( I do think that it should be extended to a 30 day free trial so a player can really get a good feel for the game. )

what you can expect

If you tried space cowboy forget it, this game is nothing like it. Eve is a skills based game no more trying to get that next level just to learn a skill. What your toons abilities are is totaly up to you, no more mindless grinding for days to level up to get a skill just to find out that it is a limited skill. Each skill contributes to the over all skills base. Thats right, you are in full control of your Character.
There are many places to explore and many things to do. You can mine astroids, hunt space pirates, join in epic space battles to take over a new solar system. With the proper skills you can even build your very own space station.

Do you have what it takes to build the next space empire?

Give the trial account a try, after all it is free!

I recently downloaded this game and played it for sometime. I found the games controls difficult to master.

There seems to be a lack of gamer community and game sages to help new players. I was informed that the game has been out for awhile.  I did not get a set date for the next up date. Last reported update Dec 18, 2006

It would be very hard to recommend this game at this time. the game seems to be on hold for  improvements. I'll wait for a while to see if things improve.

Liked the flying aspect of the game, open voice chat with team options etc would be a good improvement.

Hear Ye Hear ye Recently LastChaos updated their game with a fee of in game gold to the egeha map. To the dismay of many players. The cost started out as 10 mil and the hue and cry against it brought a end to it temporary. And for a time the egeha map was free. As of 8/6/07 the fee was brought back at 5 mil, the community once again spoke and the Fee was reduced to 800k. Many reasons were given for this fee. None of which seemed to be right to the players.  All of which only served to alienate  a large number of the players. Which left the game. Currently players that spoke up against this fee are being ingnored in the shoutbox. The players were not given a vote regarding this fee and the fee has only served to encourage boters and scammers.

Players stores prices now reflect
how the fee has change the game. Don't get me wrong folks Lastchaos was a great game untill the players lost their voice. If you dont mind scamers boters and the like. Then by all means check it out. Personally I will use my game knowladge to make the best of this awkward situation. If you are just courious read the forums they will tell the story in more detal.

Might want to take a good look at 2moons at first it is a challange to master the controls but just as fun as LastChaos was. Mind you my dear readers I loved LastChaos even when the servers crashed and I would loose items or gold on a server reset,  but alass LastChaos has lost sight of the Amercian player's will to unite and stand together as a gaming community. But we all know  how to support a game or leave one to die a tragic death

update: as of this writting the servers for LastChoas have once again crashed poor LC

Well I tried to get an account ( see my earlier post )  It failed to work properly.

I ask for Help here in the forums and got no reply.

I can not recommend this game to no one.
